The First Week of My New Job

Well after being out of work for the past two and a half months I was very excited to get back to work.. not for the work but for the money. This new job had some for the same people that I worked with on my previous job so I thought it would be a lot of fun. Well the people are great but things are starting off on shaky ground. I don't office and for that matter I don't even have a desk. We are in a very small building sharing it with another show done by the same production company and they have been there for a few weeks already so they have staked out all the good spots and I'm given the leftovers. So my job of setting up the office has been an hassle. Rooms that are mine still have stuff in them so I really can't do anything. I'm working on a system that is unfamiliar to me so that makes things hard. And I have the EP telling me that all these things need to get done ASAP but I don't have the resources. Anyways I'm glad it's the weekend even though I have to go in on Sunday for a bit. I'm hoping next week will come together a bit better. I get the rest of my rooms and systems and a few more people will start. Oh well it's work.

The Holiday on DVD

I love romantic comedies so when I saw previews to this movie I wanted to see it but I never got a round to, so I rented it first thing when it came out on DVD last week. I finally got to watch it and I was not disappointed. It was a very cute and fun romantic comedy. It was like two romantic comedies in one. Both stories were fun and entertaining. If you're looking for a fun romantic comedy then this movie is for you. Here's a synopsis.

Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women, who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur, mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.

The Dog Walking Dance

Sometimes you have the rouge dogs where the owner defy LA laws and allow their dogs to run leash-less. If we every run into one of those we take immediate action and look for the quickest escape route. Luckily in the few years that we have had Daisy I have only had to kick away one dog that was leash-less and came running at her as the owner screamed for her dog to come back. "They make leash laws for a reason. " I said to the owner but she just said her dog wouldn't hurt a fly and that she can control it. I laughed and told what a good job she is doing as I kicked at her dog a second time. The next time I saw this woman her dog was leash-less but as she saw me he quickly leashed her dog. All in all we have a pretty good group of people with dogs who know the rules of the Dog Walking Dance.

Every morning of everyday I walk the dog first thing after getting up. We live in a neighborhood with quite a few dogs and Daisy being the way she is we try and avoid those dogs. Many of the people do they same so everytime we go out it's like a dance. You start down the sidewalk and if you see another dog walking in the opposite direction one of you will cross the street to avoid the conflict. Then another dog will come towards you so you cross the street again. It's a back and forth kind of thing. Sometimes you run into trouble when you see dogs coming from both directions and there really is no where to go. But for the most part people are well verse in this dance and will stop to allow you to get by them with incident.

"Little" Brother Outing

After canceling last weekend because of my bad back I picked up my "little" and we went to Griffith Park to go hiking. We started on this really cool trail but about 1/3rd of the way on it he started to get freaked out. The trail is covered in trees and you could hear all kinds of things in the bushes. So instead I decided to take him on one of the fire trails.. this is an open trail but kind of windy. We barely got started when he got bored and tired and wanted to head back. So we got a little hiking in. After that we went to Jack in the Box and ate some lunch. It was a fun but short hike.
