Jurassic Park Movie Marathon Day One

The 11 folks who stayed the night last night got up fairly early 8am and began making our Jurassic breakfast. Olivia had brought some dinosaur cookie cutters so Chris made dino shaped biscuits for our biscuits and gravy.

After breakfast a group of us went out to play Extreme Bocce Ball (a weekend tradition). I played for about an hour before going inside to prep for the party. With some help we moved all my furniture around and got ready for the screening. I went to help Jes who was making these really cool looking hard boiled eggs, they looked dino eggs. I also brought out all the snacks and veggie platters. Speaking of veggie platter, Chris made me eat a piece of raw broccoli. I actually gagged a few time before chewing it and getting it down. It wasn't so much the taste as it we the texture.

Our first guests of the day arrived Kevin and Doug Rusley, but Doug just started working at Magic Mountain so he had to leave for a few hours. Robert didn't sleep so well the night before so he went into my room to take a nap. Jes was finishing up her lunch, this really yummy pulled beef sandwiches. Jen hooked up her Rock Band but only had a mic and drum set so we played with that for a while, Robert heard the music and couldn't help but join in on the fun.

One o'clock came and Kim arrived just in time for lunch and the beginning of our first movie Jurassic Park part 1. About a half hour into the movie Will arrived, then Jennifer and Matt.

There was a great moment when the young girl is eating Jello and sees a Velocaraptor  and starts shaking. Well Chris had this great idea and made a huge amount of green jello so we could re-enact it when it happened on screen and we did just that.. it was pretty EPIC!!!!

After the first movie we took a break. While on this break I went outside and Kim asked if my outdoor fireplace worked. I said yes but I had never used it in the 2 1/2 years that I've been here. She asked if we had wood and I did have several large trunk pieces but they needed to be cut down, but I told her it was hard and a workout but she said she was up for the challenge. Somehow poor Robert got pulled into trying to cut some wood as well. So Kim and Robert both tried to cut down these trunks and though they did manage to get some chucks off it was just too much effort so I told her we'd just go buy some wood when we went out to get dinner.

We headed back in as they had started Jurassic Park part 2. This time the chatter around the room was loud and you could barely hear the movie :( Once that was over we took another break and my new best bud Robert and I staged a play fight (which was later turned into a gif that can see here http://picasion.com/i/1xEhO ) I ordered some pizza for dinner so Chris, Aaron, Robert and I headed out to pick it up. While we were out we also got some firewood and Chris picked up some coconut rum. We got back with dinner and the drinks were flowing. Chris set up a round of coconut rum shots and I have so say it was very tasty. While we enjoyed our pizza dinner we started Jurassic Park III.

Once the movie was over Jennifer and Matt L had to call it a night and said their final goodbyes to Chris. The party then moved out back where Kim was starting a fire in my outdoor fireplace. She's a pro and had it going in no time. We then gathered around the fire and started a "In Never" drinking game. Learned loads of new things about my friends but like last time never remember it all (need to take notes next time :) Like yesterday with Chris and his wine glass there was an incident tonight. First let me explain that I haven't worked on my back deck since I bought the house and there is a set of stairs that were slowly falling apart. And tonight there was just one to many steps taking on those broken stairs and down went poor Dallas. He was alright but the stairs complete crumbled under him. I was so drunk and felt horrible.. just glad he didn't hurt himself.

Normally our parties go to about 3am but not this time.. around 1am folks were getting tired and Robert, Will and I called it a night and crashed in my room.. soon after everyone was sleeping.

This was a fun day... 3 enjoyable movies (though part 1 is my favorite followed by 3 then 2), learned some intimate details about my friends, got to spend some awesome time with my best bud Chris (who's leaving us soon :( ) and got to know my other best bud Robert a little bit better. Good times all around and this weekend is only half over.

Jurassic Park Movie Weekend Begins Early

These early Friday arrivals started off with my friend Jes who drove down from the San Francisco area but they have become an extra day of AWESOME. Today I had the most pre-guests then I've ever had before. It stated with my best bud Robert arriving around 3ish. He needed to go to the post office so I drove him to the Santa Clarita station. After that I was hungry so we headed to Taco Bell to pick up a quick bite to eat. When we got back to my place my buddy Rupert was already inside my house (he remembered where my spare key was).  So the three of us shared in our Taco Bell yummies before playing a few games of Yahtzee. As we were listening to music the three of us started dancing. Loopin (Rupert) was trying to teach Rob and I some moves. Rob picked them up pretty good.. me on the other hand not so much.

My best bud Chris soon arrived with steaks and wine and we got the party started. Chris is a master chief when it comes to grilling steaks. So he grilled up some steaks while I poured us some wine. An hour later our bellies were full and we were feeling great.

Next to arrive were Aaron and Dallas who joined in the fun as we all did a shot of Rumple Minze, which is this extremely yummy peppermint schnapps. We didn't really play any games or watch TV we just sat around and chatted.. it was pretty great.

Jen was next to arrived followed closely by Anthony and Jennifer C. We were only waiting on two more people but they were arriving after midnight.  I was feeling great (in other words, drunk) and finally got a "present" I have been wanting for while now and then it kind of got out of hand and soon everyone was giving me "presents" and it was AWESOME!!

One weird thing happened, Chris was drinking his wine when he bit down on the glass and broke it off in his mouth. He didn't cut himself but he did chip a tooth.

Jennifer had brought some games so many of the folks sat down to play a new game called 7 Wonders. I was way to drunk to play so I sat around watching and chatting with Robert (who was also not playing). BTW. drunk Chris and Jennifer tied for the win. Jen was the biggest loser :)

Around 12:30am our final two guests arrived, Jes and Olivia and this completed my early arrivals. Robert and I were exhausted so we went to bed at 1am while the others stayed awake another half hour before calling it a night.

I have to say this will be a night to remember, great friends, great food and great "presents" :)

Thanks to Robert, Rupert, Chris, Aaron, Dallas, Jen, Anthony, Jennifer, Jes and Olivia for making this kickoff of the Jurassic Park movie marathon the best yet!!!

Geeks! The Musical!

My former boyfriend Tom is a writer and has written some fantastic stuff in the past but tonight I drove down to Hollywood to watch his latest piece. Geeks! The Musical! and I have to say this is his best yet.

Here's a quick synopsis of the musical; Geeks! The Musical! follows the adventures of a gaggle of geeks through a comic book/Sci-Fi Convention. Will the geek boy find true love and a mint copy of Batman '92?? Will the artist and Goth girl sell their avant-garde comic? Will the has-been sci-fi actor get cast in the remake of his old TV show? These questions and more will be answered as they sing, dance, and debate whether Batman could beat Spider-Man in a fight! Be square, be there!

This is a fantastic and super entertaining show. Of course if you have gone to Comic Con before you'll be a few more of the jokes but this really is a Musical for everyone. The stories are great and the song are catchy. Soon as it was over I wished I could have purchased the soundtrack.

It's only playing three weeks (Thursday - Saturday) March 1st - March 17th. So as of this blog you only have one more weekend to go. They are hoping to extend or find another location as the previous shows have sold out. If you live in the Los Angeles Area it's definitely a must see. Check out more info and tickets at http://geeksthemusical.com

I'll keep you posted on extensions as well as the possibility of it moving to New York for a run.

More Podcasts

Today I spent the majority of the day editing my next Alien Nation Podcast #3. Recording with my brother is fantastic. We have some great chemistry and our conversation just flows which makes it much easier to edit. The next episode comes out on Saturday March 10th. The podcast itself is still trying to find it's audience. If you know of your are a fan of Alien Nation be sure to let them know about the podcast. We're currently getting about 100 downloads a month. Would love to see it more downloads as I know there are a lot of fans out there. But I guess it's only been a few months. Like my MASH podcast it will take a while for the audience to find it.

A Healthier Me - Day 45

Well I was sick a few weeks ago and stopped working out and haven't really started back up yet.. I have been doing alot more hiking and walking around Disneyland, but really want to get back into my routine of working out 5 days a week.

But it is Monday I still weight myself every Monday and though I haven't been working out regularly I am down to 201.5. Only 1.5 pounds away from my first goal. I did want to accomplish that before March 1st and that didn't happen but I'm actually happy what I have done since mid January.

I have been trying to eat better, which has been a struggle but the scale doesn't lie. I'm not working out but still losing weight so my eating must be getting better. It's still a struggle and I know it will be for a while but in time I hope there comes a time when eating healthy and working out are like second  nature... until then the fight goes on.

A Day of Awesome

After one of the best days spent at Disneyland with Chris, Jen and Robert. Chris and I had lots of awesome planned for today. So even though we got home around 1:30am we were both up around 7:30 and made some biscuits and gravys for breakfast.

After breakfast we headed out to Hollywood were we first had to pick up some tickets from my friend Tony for the Once Upon A Time Paleyfest panel today at 1pm. My buddy live on Beachwood wish is the street that if standing your on it.. it gives you the best view of the Hollywood sign. Chris mentioned that he had never really seen the sign so this was perfect. After we got the ticket we found a spot where I could get a picture of him standing in front of the Hollywood sign.

We then headed out to Beverly Hills where the event was taking place. It didn't start until 1pm but doors opened at noon and the was a general seating so you had to get there fairly early to get a decent seat. We arrived around 11:30 and there was already a huge line and it was so hot standing there we were happy when they finally opened the doors just after noon.

We entered the theater and it was packed, but we did manage to find some seats in the center section about 10 rows from the front. Both Chris and I were very happy with the seats. The show got started and the two executive producers came out and informed us that we would be seeing tonight's episode now and then in addition we'd see the first 10 minutes of next weeks episode. It was great seeing an episode of one of my favorite TV series on the big screen and it was a fantastic episode and the first 10 minutes of next weeks episode was great. After the screening the moderator came out and introduced the guests Edward Kitsis, Creator/Executive Producer, Adam Horowitz, Creator/Executive Producer, Steve Pearlman, Executive Producer,   Ginnifer Goodwin, “Mary Margaret Blanchard / Snow White”, Jennifer Morrison, “Emma Swan”, Robert Carlyle, “Mr. Gold / Rumplestiltskin”, Lana Parrilla, “Regina Mills / Evil Queen”, Josh Dallas, “David Nolan / Prince Charming” and Raphael Sbarge, “Archie Hopper / Jiminy Cricket” The panel was FANTASTIC.. entertaining, funny, informative and a few spoilers. One the panel was over hundreds of people rushed the stage where the cast was sticking around signing autographs. I asked Chris if he was up for battle the crowds to see if we could get any but we agreed that it wasn't worth it so we headed out back to the car.

After the panel we headed to a local and well known Mexican restaurant El Coyote in Hollywood. We had some extremely yummy Mexican food.. Chris was adventurous and went with Ostrich enchiladas and I went with something safe, cheese enchilada and chicken tamale.

After dinner we headed back to my place and then went for a hike at Vasquez Rocks. We actually had a great hike but had to cut it short because it was near sunset and the park closes then.. and as we were heading back we could hear the authorities saying that the park is closed and when we got back to the car we were the second to last car there.

Once we got back to my place it was around 7pm and Chris packed up his stuff and said his goodbyes.

This was the perfect way to end a perfect weekend. It started Friday with Steak and Wine, then Saturday at Disneyland and finally Sunday which was full of awesome.. wish all my weekends were this epic. Thanks to Jen, Robert and especially Chris who spent the entire 3 days hanging with me. Can't wait for next weekend.
