Today was my nephew Kenobi's 3rd birthday party, his actual birthday was a few weeks ago. My brother and sister-in-law went all out and was having a big party. I got there a few hours early to hang out with my family and to help set up.
My brother rented this huge blow up water slide. Kenobi loves the water and he totally loved this. Of course as soon as it was ready I got in to cool down my feet and soon I heard Kenobi say.. Unk.. Unk and lifting his arms telling me he wanted to get in. We changed him into his swim trunks and started to slid. We were having a blast until our 15 or so slid and I snagged my left hand ring finger on the side of the slide as I was going down and hear a pop.. at first I thought I broke it but then realized that I dislocated it, it was twisted and when I went to bend it, it bent at an angle.
I quickly iced it down which didn't really help as the base of my finger and knuckle area quickly swelled up. After icing it for an hour or so I asked my brother if he had any kind of medical tape so I could tape the bad finger to the finger next to it. My brother just moved and couldn't find anything. So I asked my Dad and he had some gauze tubing stuff so I used that and then used packing tape. My friend Timmy suggested putting something ridge in there to keep me from bending it.. so we ventured into the garage and after a bit of digging we found a paint stirrer.. so we through that in there before taping it all up. It may have looked funny but it did the trick. It kept me from hitting it and being in pain.
I spent the rest of the party watching my nephew play in the water. I wasn't in pain but a bit of discomfort. One of my favorite moments was when a friend of the family gave Kenobi this animatronic dinosaur.. this thing was AWESOME.. I would love to have one of these thing. Kenobi's reaction was priceless..
I left around 6pm. Dropped off my buddy Timmy at his place, grabbed a burrito from my favorite Mexican place Miguel Jr's and then drove home. I took some Advil to help with swelling. I got various advice from wrapping it, which I did to going to emergency and having xrays done. I didn't feel it was that bad but will see how I feel tomorrow.

Not As Planned
Well today didn't go quite as planned. My buddy Sebastian and his girlfriend Amanda came over yesterday (read yesterday's blog), we were going to continue to log my toy collection but first we were going to go on a hike at Vasquez Rocks. We got up, ate breakfast and started to get ready when Sebastian got extremely sick and was out (not literally) for half the day.
We cancelled our hike and inventorying my toys. Instead we hung out at my place and just chilled. He was feeling a bit better around two so we headed out to Chill's for a celebratory lunch, for my new job. We got back and they headed home.
I spent the rest of the day blogging and working on podcasts.
So the day didn't go as planned but it was fun none the less just hanging with friends.

Organizing my Toys
Today my buddy Sebastian and his girlfriend Amanda came over, they are planning a two day hang out at my place. Sebastian and I are really into Star Trek and a few weeks ago I showed him some of my collection of action figures and ships and such. I mentioned that I really would love to organize and inventory my entire collection. He was excited to help so we planned this two day event.
I have about 40 plastic containers, extra large to medium size that contain my entire collection of geeky goodness. We grabbed four of the medium size totes and got to work. We had a process, I would take them out and dust/clean them, I'd pass them to Amanda who would take a picture of them and then pass them to Sebastian who would enter all the information in the excel spreed sheet that I created. We did this over and over for about an hour before we finished our first box.
We took a break and had lunch then did another box and another and finally our fourth box. After our fourth we were done. It doesn't sound like much we we logged about a hundred figures in those boxes.
We knew it would take more then two days to get everything logged.. well at the speed were going it's going to take about 10 days of doing four or five boxes a day. So this will be an on going process.. but it's going to be so great when it's complete and I have a complete listing of my collectibles.
After this I made some spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and we chatted for a bit.
We moved on to a movie, none of us had seen Despicable Me. I got a screener but never watched it. I heard it was good and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was a sweet story and of course I loved Agnes the little girl who just loved Unicorns (He's sooooo fluffy!!!!)
We finished the night with a viewing of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Neither Amanda nor Sebastian had seen this movie and really wanted to see it..
We finally went to bed around 1:30am and after watching a Simpsons episode I fell asleep around 2am.

I Got A Job!!!!!
Today while I organized my toy collection I got call, well actually missed a call from a person I interviewed with a few weeks back. When I noticed the message a few hours later I took a listen and he said to call him back ASAP as he might have a job for me. I then noticed that I got an email from the woman who I interviewed with as well asking me to call her ASAP. So I called the guy and let him a message and then called the woman. She was on the other line and said she would like to make me an offer on the position that I interviewed for and was denied a few weeks back.. I was surprised but happy. This is the job that, after the interview, I swore I was going to get.. we all just clicked. So I was shocked when I got the call and they decided to go with someone else.
So I waited for this call, it sounded like she was going to call me as soon as she got off the other line. Two hours pass and still nothing, then I get a call and it's the guy that I left the message with, he says that the post supervisor job that I interviewed with has opened up again, I won't go into details but I told him that I already contacted "the woman" and I'm waiting for her to call me back with an offer. He gave me the low down on what he's looking for and it sounded once again that I'd be a perfect match. He said he would talk with this woman and she would call me back. So I wait.. and wait until around 7pm I get a call from this woman and she makes me an offer. It's not what I asked for or what I was making at MTV but it's close and I'm very happy to accept it... so I officially got the job.
I start on Monday, it's located in the Santa Monica area (that's a bummer, but doable), the gig last 10 weeks with the possibility of going over a bit. Not my longest gig, but it's 10 weeks of work that I wouldn't have and the money is good so I can save up again. The company is called High Noon Entertainment, they produce shows such as Cake Boss for TLC, VH1’s Tough Love, TLC's Next Great Baker, TLC’s Kitchen Boss, and The Weather Channel's Hurricane Hunters.
The show that I'll be working on is called Guinness World Records Gone Wild, it's a new series for TruTV.
So I'm very excited to be getting back to work. I hope with this new company once this show is over that I have impressed them enough that they will want to keep me around for their next show. I'm sure once I start working I'll be blogging how things are going.. so stay tuned.
Also what made this night even better is that my best friend Chris called me from Montana while at work to congratulate me. He was almost as excited as me.. this is why I love him so much.

Editing Podcasts
I spent the day on and off editing my next MASH 4077 Podcast, I'd work on the podcast for a half hour then go watch an hour or so of recorded TV then work on the podcast again. This went on all day until finally I finished the podcast around 1am. I love getting these things done a few days before they are suppose to be released.

Sebastian, Starships & Steaks
Since I wasn't able to really hang out with my buddy Sebastian yesterday I went down to Burbank to hang out with him for a few hours today. I had a ton of stuff to do; podcasts, yard work, job search but I wanted to see him for a few hours.. well those few hours turned into a seven hour visit... it crazy how time flies when you're having fun.
One thing that Sebastian and I share is the ability to talk about any and everything. He and I are so very different in so many ways but we do share a love for Trek, which is why we really became friends, but then we meet and there is this chemistry between us that allows us to instantly share everything with each other, no matter how private or personal. Anyways got to his place around 11am and we hung out and chatted, then headed to lunch at Outback Steak House, Sebastian didn't have the best experience but I was happy with the my food.
After lunch we headed back to his place and the mailman was there with a large box that Sebastian was dying to get. He was like a kid at Christmas, he couldn't wait to open it. What he got was a Star Trek Enterprise D light up replica.. it was pretty awesome and he was so excited about getting it. He opened the package, and admired (played) with it for the next hour and then we talked Trek for the rest of the day.
I finally left around 5pm and got home around 7pm, by this time I couldn't do any yard work but I did manage to work on the next MASH 4077 podcast episode. Also I tried to do a skype chat, google hangout, and Facebook video chat with my bestie Chris but my internet is so slow that it wouldn't work properly so finally I just gave him a call on the phone and we chatted for a little over an hour. I miss seeing him. We text or chat online via IM almost everyday but it's so different when you get to actually communicate verbally or even better in person. I love talking to him but it also reminds me of how much I am missing him. Regardless it was a fantastic way to end this fun day.

Dinner with a Long Lost Friend
Today I had dinner with my buddy Christopher, Christopher and I have been friends for many, many years but recently for whatever reason we haven't talked or hung out for over nine months. No real reason for not hanging, we didn't have a disagreement, we just stopped talking. Anyways we finally made plans to have dinner at Islands. It was great seeing him and catching up. Both of us have had many changes in our lives since we chatted last. We kind of knew the going ons of each other since we are facebook and twitter friends so we would see each others info but it was great finally sitting down and just chatting. We hung out at Islands for over three hours (kind of felt bad for the waiter).
And as we called it a night we swore that we wouldn't let another nine months pass before we saw each other again. We're both extremely busy but our friendship is something worth making time for.
After hanging with Christopher I was near my buddy Sebastian's place so I thought I would stop by and say hi. When I got there he was actually heading out to pick up his girlfriend so I only got to see him for a few minutes.
It was a fun night

Gamer Girl, Country Boy - Behind the Scenes
Felicia released her new music video that she did with Jason Charles Miller today, called Gamer Girl, Country Boy. I mentioned this shoot a few months back on my blog but couldn't say much... now I can. They shot all of Felicia's rockband stuff in my living room as well as all the outside on the dirt road stuff on my property.
I was excited when Sean Becker (the director) asked me if he could use my place. He previously asked if he could shoot a new Jeff Lewis 5 Minute Comedy Hour at my place (which we actually shot the following weekend). Of course I said yes and was excited to hear this new song. I'm a huge country music fan and I've enjoy Jason's previous songs. I also love Felicia's Guild songs so this was a win win for me. Sean also asked me to find two girls to play in Felicia's band and I got my bestie Jen and my former co-host of Knights of the Guild Podcast Jenni to join us.
The day started early, they had shot all of Jason's stuff yesterday and today was Jason and Felicia's outdoor stuff with the truck and then of course Felicia's rockband group. It was just a handful of crew. They scouted where they were going to shoot outside. I have lots of property and it's fairly recluse but you can see houses in the background and they were trying to avoid it. They picked a spot just off the main road to my place at the top of my property. They shot all of the outdoor stuff during the day. It was hot, very hot and poor pale Felicia had to stay under umbrellas to keep from burning. They shoot from about 10am to 3pm before heading inside to do the rockband sequence. They chose my living room to shoot in. It has the nice fireplace and the wall colors worked for them.
We had to move some furniture around to accommodate for the cameras but once that and lighting was done they were ready to shoot. They did the entire song with everyone playing four or five times then they did close ups of Felicia a few times and then a close up of Jen on drums once. Jason joined in and I mentioned that I could teach them to line dance if they wanted to and then Sean said "why don't you line dance in the background".. it will be so random and awesome. Of course I love line dancing and I never miss an opportunity to get into one of Felicia's shows :) So I lined dance for a few different takes and I think in the end the video turned out pretty great. I loved the song when I first heard it and after hearing over and over again on set I still love it.
