Happy New Years Eve

Today Harry and I were invited to a friends for a New Years Eve party. Neither Harry or I are into big groups of people or parties but we thought it would be fun. But at the last minute I wasn't feeling so hot and Harry was having some tooth pain so we decided to stay home and celebrate the new year with just the two of us and Daisy. It was a quiet but nice night.

Happy New Years.. 2009 is going to ROCK!!!!

Star Trek The Tour

Today I started working on editing together some of the video from our wonderful three trip to Long Beach for Star Trek The Tour back in February 08. We took over three hours of video and watching it now brings back such great memories. Harry and I are such geeks.. we had such a wonderful time. If you want to see the videos you can go to my You tube video page and watch them there.. I have a few up now but plan on putting up more as I get them done...

Being Sick and needing Serenity

I've been sick on and off the past few weeks.. it's a cold that just won't leave. Well today it was at it's worse and I was feeling horrible. So I decided to rest on the couch in front of our new 60" big screen TV and watch one of my all time favorite movies Serenity. If you don't know it is, look it up online. It's a movie made from one of the best yet very short lived TV series called Firefly. It's from the wonderful mind of Joss Whedon.

It was exactly what the doctor ordered.. I relaxed, sat back and watched a fantasic movie.

I hope I feel better soon....

Re-Digitizing The Guild

After the lose of my hard drive I had to start re-digitizing the 50+ hours of footage I shot for The Guild BTS. It's a slow process but I should be done in a week or so and I can start cutting together some cool BTS pieces for the DVD. Wish me luck that my drive doesn't crash again.

Dr. Horrible DVD

Today I was finally able to sit down and watch the Dr. Horrible DVD extras and listen to the commentary and I LOVED IT.

First of all if you don't know what this is you can go here and watch it for free.

If you are a Joss Whedon fan then you already know how AWESOME this show is. But what is extra special about this DVD is there is a commentary track that's called Commentary: The Musical and cast and crew sing their commentary while the show is playing.. it's totally cool. There is also a "regular" commentary which is also very fun. There are few BTS pieces and a very cool Evil League of Evil section where fans sent in videos of their characters. Some of them were so cool and interesting.

I know you can watch this show online for free.. but it's worth every penny of the $9.99 to buy the DVD and support such a cool and innovated project.

More Guildie Stuff

Success.. I was finally able to get the three Guild videos uploaded to my You Tube channel. The picture quality is okay but the more important part is listening to the singing. Later in the day I uploaded the videos directly to watchtheguild.com website and the picture quality was 100 times better, you can see them here. All in all I think the videos turned out pretty good... even the one that has me singing on it.

Guildie Stuff

Today I worked on getting The Guild mini wrap party karaoke videos up on you tube for all too see. First of all the clips were too long, you tube has a limit of 10 minutes now so I had to cut them up. I also wanted to have a high enough picture quality but the file couldn't be over 1gig. After lots of attempts and staying up till after 2am I finally gave up and went to bed.. I vowed to work on it the next day.

Dr. Horrible DVD and CD

Today I got my Dr. Horrible Sing Along Blog DVD and CD from Amazon.. I can't wait to sit down and watch/listen to Commentary the Musical and watch all the extras.. The Hammer is my Penis...

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Everyone...

Today Harry, Daisy and I went to my mom and step dads and had Christmas breakfast and opened gifts. Besides my mom and stepdad, my grand mother was there as well as my brother and sister-in-law. Mom and Chuck got me my new podcasting microphone and audio usb mixer... it's very cool.

Around 3pm we headed over to my Dad, who lives with my brother and sister-in-law and we opened a ton of presents and then had a very yummy Christmas Turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

It was a long but fun day.. everyone had a very merry Christmas.

Gift Exchange

Merry Christmas Eve..

Tonight Harry and I exchanged gifts for each other. There weren't many gifts to exchange since our big gift to ourselves was our 60" Big Screen TV.. which we love. We got additional DVD's and clothes. We also opened the gifts that Harry's family had sent up for Xmas. They got us this awesome pet vaccum, Harry Potter A History book, Friends Seasons DVD and a flood light for outback. We videotaped the whole thing so Harry can show his family later. All in all it was a quiet night.

Please Don't Divorce Campaign

My friend Chris sent me this link. It's a photo campaign for folks to post pictures of you, your spouse, husband, wife, kids, family holding signs asking "people" not to divorce my mom's or dad's. There are some amazing pictures and my heart swells with pride to be part of such a loving community. Check it out here.

DVD Screeners

One of the reasons I joined the PGA (Producer's Guild of America) was to get DVD screeners during the award season. Here is what I have gotten so far. The Tale of Despereaux, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Madagascar 2, The Dark Knight, The Wrestler, Gran Torin, Changeling, The Visitor, Rachel Getting Married, Kung Fu Panda, Wall-E, Frost/Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire, Defiance, Bolt, Doubt and Revolutionary Road.

It's all about the Jeep

Today I got up super early 6:30am and dropped off the Jeep to the jeep dealer and then went to the car rental place to pick up my rent-a-car. While there the dealer called and informed me what the problem was. Beside they fact that my dash cluster is bad (which I already knew and it would cost $1200 to fix) there was a bad sensor throttle and to replace it would cost about $260.00. Which was better then the $700 I spent a few months ago and the $2000 I spent a year ago fixing this jeep. Many ask why I keep putting money into this thing and I tell them that I'm still paying on it and I have no choice. Having a jeep is great but I was warned that they could become a money pit.. and that is becoming very true as of late. The good thing is my car would be ready by 10:30am but I was already at work and rented a car so I am going to pick it up tomorrow morning.

The Tales of Despereaux

Today for TV night we watched The Tales of Despereaux. I had gotten the DVD screener that day. This movie is based on a best selling Children's novel.

The movie is cute but there is something missing and I can't put my finger on it. It's not a blockbuster type of movie. The characters are very well done and endearing and I liked the story, but it was just missing something. I enjoyed the way the story was told.. following four different charactera then all coming together at the end. I didn't love it but I will defiantly watch it again, as it's a very cute movie.

A Sad Day for Us Trekkies

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry, has died. She was 76. Roddenberry, an actress who appeared in numerous "Star Trek" TV shows and movies, died Thursday of leukemia at her home in Bel-Air, Calif.

At Roddenberry's side were family friends and her only son, Eugene Roddenberry Jr. Gene Roddenberry died in 1991.

Her romance with Roddenberry earned her the title "The First Lady of Star Trek." A fixture in the "Star Trek" franchise, her roles included Nurse Christine Chapel in the original "Star Trek," Lwaxana Troi in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (Pictured Above) and the voice of the USS Enterprise computer in almost every spin-off of the 1966 cult series. She recently reprised the voice role in the upcoming "Star Trek" film directed by J.J. Abrams.

She was a very kind and sweet lady and always very warm and loving to her fans. This is truly a sad day for us Trekkies.

Could it get any worse.

I must have angered the Gods.. first my 1 TB drive crashes and is broken and I lose a ton of material then when I get in my car this morning and my check engine light comes on and my car starts having some acceleration issues and sounds like wants to die. I manage to get to work and of course it's another crazy day. I finally have some down time and I call the jeep dealer and make an appointment to have my jeep looked at tomorrow morning. I also book a rent a car for a few days not knowing how long the repairs will take. Can't wait for this day to be over... I'm saying that alot lately.

Crazy Day then Crash

Today I had to get up early so I could pack up all of the Christmas stuff we were shipping to Harry's family in Austria and then I had to take it to the post office and ship it off. When I got to the post office I was happy to see that it wasn't too crowded. Only took me about 15 minutes to get to the desk. The box weighted 19 pounds and they told me that there was no guarantee that it would get there by Xmas.. on btw it cost $90 bucks to ship.

I get to work a little late because of the post office and as soon as I get in it's run, run, run.. none stop. I don't think I actually sat down and turned on my computer until around noon. The rest of the day was busy, busy, busy.

Later that night when I was working on The Ready Room podcast my knee hit a cord that was attached to my new 1TB hard drive and it feel about a foot to the carpet. When I picked it up I noticed it was making some rather strange noises and sure enough the drive is damaged and I'm not sure I'll be able to get anything off it. If that is the case I lost 50+ hours of BTS of The Guild that I had digitized and a ton of personal stuff that I had backed up from my computer hard drive. I'm hoping I can at least get the material off the drive.. but things don't look good.

I just want this day to end.

It's all about The Guild

Today was all about The Guild. First of all The Guild released it's 2008 Christmas special which was FANTASTIC. Not only did I capture a tone of BTS footage I was also set decorator and helped with setting up the Christmas stuff behind the actors.. it was a lot of fun.

And then Felicia Day updated her Blog with a post about me and other fellow volunteers for Season Two of The Guild. She said some very sweet things about me. You can read it here.

And lastly, they have started to post BTS photos that I have taken on set while shooting the second season of The Guild.. you can see them here.

The Guild, Stargate and Sickness

Today I woke up still not feeling so hot. It's the kind of sick where it doesn't knock you on your butt so you're able to still do things.. you just feel like crap when doing them.

In the afternoon I finished editing The Guild Wrap Party Highlight Video. I think it turned out pretty good. It runs for 18 + minutes. Now I just have to figure out how to output it so the file size is fairly small and the picture quality is fairly good... wish me luck.

My friend Rico from the Treks in Sci Fi forums posted a very cool Amazon.com deal. They had all 10 seasons of Stargate SG1 on DVD boxset on sale for only $99. I watched this series on and off over the years but it's an on going story and once you fall behind it's hard to catch up. And I have always wanted to start watching this series so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy all ten seasons for such a great price... and though I really shouldn't have .. I bought the boxset. :)

A Cough, Shopping and Dinner

Today I woke up with a sore throat and a bad cough. The cold that was going around finale caught up to me. I feel horrible but we must continue to go Christmas shopping.

Harry and I went of the Fallbrook mall and managed to shop a few hours before we had to get to our friends John and Moises' place for Christmas dinner.

Every year John and Moises have us over for a home made Christmas dinner along with a few friends. This year beside John, Moises, Harry and I were Tom, Ervin, Bruce and Matthew. Moises always makes a wonderful dinner every year and this year was no different. This time around we did your traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Moises is a wonderful chief and we look forward to having dinner with them every year.. you could ask for any more.. Good food with good company.

Xmas and the Guild

Today was a busy day. Got up early so I could start making some Christmas presents for some friends. Every year I like to make a personal gift for family and friends. Being so busy as of late I got a late start and I'm very behind.

In the afternoon I went to my Brothers to visit Dad, brother and sister-in-law. Got to see the sonogram of my new niece/nephew. Only the size of an egg but it was still cool. Harry stayed home to work on his family DVD that he does every year so it was just me which was kind of weird since Harry and I have been together we have always visited my family together. Dad and I went Xmas shopping as I realized that I had many more family members to buy for. We then had some lunch and I headed home.

Once I was home I started to work on The Guild Wrap Party Highlight video. I knew folks were excited to see it so I wanted to get it done ASAP. It was tough as there were alot of people who sang and I knew I had to keep the video fairly short because it was going to be posted on You Tube. I got a good start on it.

BSG and Office Lights

Today a new mini web series for Battlestar Galactica started today. There are going to be 10 episodes. Episode One Right off the bat they outed one of the semi-regular characters as being gay which I thought was very cool and it was done so matter of fact which I liked. I look forward to seeing where this goes and I can't wait for BSG to start back up in Jan. 09.

I also finished putting up my office lights.. now my office is decked out from floor to ceiling in Christmas. I love it.

A Special Guild Shoot

Today was a very special Guild shoot and I was so looking forward to it. I had planned to take a half-day and film this shoot in the morning and come to work mid day. Well things didn't work out as planned. First of all the shoot was way down in Orange and would have take 3 plus hours to get down there by 9am and then it would take hours to get back and if I wanted to work at 1pm I would only be able to stay for an hour or so. Also there was a meeting I had to go to at 11am and since this job pays the bills I couldn't go to this shoot. But I did pass on my camera and tapes to my friend Jared (Gaffer for the Guild) and they said they would get someone to take some footage for me.. so I'll still be able to do a cool BTS about this very special and cool shoot day.

A Shocking Experience

Today I decorated my office at work. I put up all my Xmas items and started to hang lights. I was using a staple gun to hang the lights. As I finished putting up about 400 lights and I was stapling my last staple I hit the cord and put a staple right through the middle and the next thing I knew there was a loud pop and a flash of bright blue light then all 400 lights went out. I short-circuited all five stands and now every light is dead.. luckily I did not get hurt but now I have to go to Target and pick up 400 more lights and try again.

Tuna Grande Take Two

Well since my first set of photos of cast and crew with the large can of Tuna went over so well I took more photos of the crew with the big can of Tuna on the final shoot day for The Guild second season. Here is the link to the photos.

Big Screen TV

Well today our Big Screen 60" TV was delivered. Of course I couldn't wait to get home and open it up. Though it is a Xmas gift for Harry and I from Harry and I there was no way we were going to wait till Christmas to open it.

When I got home I was surprised on how big the box was and after some moving around of furniture I was able to open it and remove it from the box.

It was beautiful, I knew I wasn't going to be able to hook it up HD 1080i because I needed an HDMI cable but I did want to hook it up to my cable. And though it was just 480i the first thing we watched was a MASH episode and OMG the colors were unbelievable. We played around with the screen sizes, as there are about six different ones. I plan on hooking it up HD this weekend when I get the cable but this TV is huge and the colors are beautiful. Both Harry and I are very happy with our Xmas present.

Closing our Ebay Store

Well after a year and a few months Harry and I decided to close our EBay Store "Federation Outpost". For a year we did okay, didn't make a ton of money but enough to continue it but the past few months we haven't even made enough to cover the costs so it was time to shut it down. Who know if I decide to sell off more of my toys we might re-open it but for now it's best to close it.

Guild Mini Wrap Party

Tonight The Guild cast and crew went out to Dimples (Karaoke Bar) to celebrate the end of the The Guild season two shoot. They are planning a bigger and final wrap party in January when we are actually done with all the editing. But for tonight we all went out for drinks and singing. It was a blast, it's funny seeing folks who you work with let their hair down and rock on with the singing. Everyone had a great time and I have video to prove it. Felicia is going to post some of the video on The Guild You Tube channel soon. And I even got up there twice and sang with several others.. and I didn't have a drop of alcohol, because I was driving. it was a fun night.

The Final Guild Shoot

Today is the final Guild shoot for season two. Of course I had to work but I felt it was important to be there at least half the day as I have been with this gang since the beginning. So I worked from 9am to 3:30pm and then drove over to the location of the final shoot. I managed go hang out and shot a bit more BTS for another four hours before Sean Becker said, "That's a Wrap " for the final time.

It was kind of bitter sweet, on one hand this has taken alot of my weekends and time away from Harry but on the other hand it was great being part of something that I love. I'm a fanboy and always will be. This has been the best experience working with some of the nicest and most talented people in the industry. This wasn't a job for me, I volunteered my time and services because I wanted to be part of something special. Of course my part has just begun. I now have 50 hours of footage to go through and come up with some really cool BTS pieces for DVD.

I may not see everyone on a weekly bases as before but I have made many friends and hope to continue with the friendship once this is over.. and of course there is always SEASON THREE.

Tuna Grande

While on this weekends shoot with The Guild we found this 4 1/2 pound can of Tuna. So of course me being me I had to take a photo of everyone holding the giant can of tuna.. above is Felicia Day. I took tons of pictures of cast and crew with the giant can of tuna.. you can see them on my facebook page. Click Her

Extra, Extra.. I'm an Extra

This weekend (December 6 & 7) shoot was alot of fun. It was for the final few episodes of the second season of The Guild. I had missed Friday so I was really looking forward to this weekend. This was an extra speical weekend as it would be our final shoot weekend and we had alot of extras on set. And another cool thing was I got to be one of the extras as well. So I think by the time this season is over I will have appeared in four episodes. I hate being in front of the camera, that's why I work in post, but I have to say it's fun being an extra.

This was a full weekend, I interviewed extras/fans for a BTS piece, I appeared on camera and meet some really cool Guildies.

Pole Dancing the Wrong Way

It was a long fun weekend and the last hour of the shoot on Sunday I found myself running sideways filming BTS stuff trying to stay behind the camera so I wouldn't ruin the shoot. Well on the second take I was running full out and the next thing I knew I was lying on my back.

What happened was when I was running sideways and so focused on keeping behind the camera I didn't notice the hard metal pole in my path and I ran right into it with my head. The force of the hit knocked me off my feet and the next thing I knew I was lying on my back and having Felicia Day and the crew rush over to me.

Of course I jumped up quickly and shook it off. Felicia kept telling me to sit down but I was okay. I had a headache and was more embarassed then anything.

On a good note my video camera that I was holding was fine, but on a bad note my still camera that was in my pocket was damaged beyond repair.

And another good thing was I was recording the entire time.. I can't wait to see that footage.

Christmas Light Blow Out

Up at 7am on a very cold morning before the Guild shoot fixing the lights on the roof as the entire roof "Merry Christmas" were out. Luckily it was the first strand in the line and once I replaced it the entire worked again.. so now my house is once again decked out in Christmas lights.

Missing a Guild Shoot

Today, Saturday, Sunday and Monday is an extra long weekend shoot for The Guild second season. But since I did a half day yesterday to shot some really cool BTS I couldn't take off work today to be there for the shoot today. This was the first time I wasn't able to make a guild shoot for all of season two and I was bummed out. But since I'm doing the Guild BTS for fun and need my job to actually live I choose to work. And luckily I did.. it was a crazy day at work.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

Guild Shoot or Work?

Today the Guild was doing a practice/rehersal for a really cool and exciting thing that's happening in the last few episodes of Season Two.. of course I can't say much but as I'm doing the BTS of the DVD I knew I had to film it because it was going to be very cool and alot of fun. So I had to choose to take a half day at work and head to Inglewood to film this.

It was a lot of fun and I'm sure it's going to be a really cool part of the BTS for the DVD.

After I went to work for the remaining day. That's one good thing about being boss. :)

TV Night

Well after a few months off we finally started our TV nights again. This time around instead of doing TV series we are doing Scifi/Fantasy movies or anything else geeky. Tonight I got Madagascar 2 dvd screener and since none of us saw it we decided to watch that. It was pretty good, if you liked the first then you'll like this one. It was great to see our friends Tom, John and Moises as it's been a while since we all got together. We have TV/Movie night every Thursday at 7:30pm and starting next week will have our new 60" Big Screen TV... so if you would like to join us please email me.

Big Screen TV

Well we haven't had much luck with Big Screen TV's. My first 45" TV my brother sold to me for $200 and all it needed was a new screen but it cracked while they were moving it. I was assured that it would be easy to find.. well it wasn't and come to find out they don't make that TV or screens anymore so it became a great big piece of plastic.

Our second big screen 50" that my mom bought from a friend for my birthday last year. After a crazy drive from Newport to Reseda the TV was great and worked for a whole five months before it decided to break down. We paid $50 bucks for a guy to come out and say that this is what is wrong and by the way they don't make those parts anymore.. once again we have a great big piece of plastic.

Well today we decided instead of getting "used" TV's since we don' t have the best of luck we went and got a brand spanking new 60" big screen TV. It's actually a Christmas present from Harry and I to Harry and I.

It's a Mitsubishi 60" 1080p DLP HDTV

We were trying to get a LCD or Plasma but with the size we wanted we would have to spend three times the amount we got this TV for. Best Buy was having one of their cyber Monday sales and we got this 60" TV for a great price of $999.99. It should be arriving this Wednesday and the real question is should we wrap it up and open it on Christmas day... yeah right.. :)

World Aids Day

We must continue to fight this horrible disease.

The Guild BTS

After hanging lights, I finished my first behind the scenes piece for the DVD of the second season of The Guild. This first piece is the only piece that will play on MS Video after they air the fourth episode. I think it turned out pretty good and both Felicia (creator) and Kim (producer) enjoyed it, which is what is important. I brought the hard drive with the quicktime of the piece over to Felicia's. We chatted for about 15 minutes and then I was on my way home to try and enjoy the last remaining few hours of my long weekend. All in all a very fun and Christmasy extended weekend.

Christmas Lights

On my last day of my four-day weekend I was able to put up our Christmas lights on our house. I got up early around 8am and started to sort through the stands of lights. I was amazed at how many of the strands were half-out and unusable. Luckily we bought some a few days after Christmas last year so I had some back up lights. So I climbed onto the roof and started to hang lights. Last year I wanted to write Merry Christmas on the roof but didn't have enough lights but this year I had plenty. I am happy with the results and I think I'm going to add a few more lights to the garage and front door area but for the most part it's very Christmasy at our place.

Christmas Shopping

Today Harry and I finally were able to get out and start our Christmas shopping. Well we really started a few weeks ago but only online buying. Today we actually went out to the stores and man were they busy. So many people and a ton of traffic... I think we lasted about four hours before Harry and I looked at each other and said "we are done". Both of us don't like crowds and there were some big crowds. But we did manage to get a bunch of stuff. This year is going to be a lighter year but we enjoy giving and will give what we can... tomorrow I'm putting up Christmas lights.

Christmas Decorating

Well as tradition with me it's the day after Thanksgiving so now I have permission to decorate my house. Today I did the living room and dining room. This is my favorite time of the year and I love putting up as much stuff as I can. Next up are the lights on the house.

Thanksgiving

Today Harry and I went to my Mom's for Thanksgiving. Along with my brother and sister-in-law, grandmother and step dad's sister and boyfriend. Traffic was horrible and it took us nearly 2 hours to get down to Newport Beach. But once there is was a good day and an excellent Turkey dinner.

More Guildie Goodness

Today is the premiere of the Second Season of The Guild.

This season is sponsored by MSN, Sprint and XBox Live. You can watch all of season one (about 40 minutes) and the first episode of season two here.

I have been doing alot of behind the scenes videotaping (as you know if you read my blog on a regular bases) and I'm very proud of being part of The Guild family. Of course most of my work won't be seen until the Season Two DVD comes out but I do have a few things that might be released before hand. I am also taking all the still photos of the BTS and those are starting to show up on the main website www.watchtheguild.com.

Please support this great webseries, Felicia Day (creator/writer/actress) is the sweetest person you can ever met and deserves all the success she gets.

Rock on Guildies!!!!!

3rd Pass on BTS The Guild

Today I was able to cut in the opening credits and tweak some of the audio for my BTS The Guild piece. It looks great, going to send it one more time to Felicia and Kim just in case they want to make any changes. Then on this coming Friday I'll uprez it and output it.. Once BTS piece down.. many more to go. They are so much fun to work on I can't wait to see what else I can come up with.

More DVD Screeners

Over the past few days I have gotten a few more DVD screeners. Of note I got Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda, both we saw in the theater but really enjoyed them. We actually watched Wall-E on Sunday... but today I got The Dark Knight, which is awesome since I haven't been able to get to the movies to see this one. So I'm very excited to sit down this weekend and check it out. I love getting these screeners as this past year I have been so busy and we haven't had many chances to get to the movies so I love getting movies I haven't seen yet.. let's hope I get many more.

Rest and Notes

Today I pretty much rested. I still wasn't felling 100% and I had done some running around and really shouldn't have. I had planned to do some Christmas shopping and get out all our Christmas decorations but once I was on the couch it was hard to get off.

I did get an email from Felicia saying how much she loved my BTS piece and had only one note about adding the show's opening credits to the beginning. Whoo hooo.

Saturday, November 22, 2008

2nd Pass on the BTS The Guild

Today I was finally able to work on the notes that Felicia and Kim gave me and cut in the directors interview as well. After a few hours I am very pleased with the results. I can't really talk about what it is as it's all very top secret but I do know it's a companion piece for Episode 4 of season two.. it will also be an extra on the Season two DVD. Now I get to send it off to Felicia and Kim for final notes.

Picture is of Sean (Director), Me, and Jared (Gaffer) looking tough... well trying to anyways.

Pushing Daisies Cancelled

I was so bummed to hear that ABC in all its wisdom cancelled Pushing Daisies. I guess it's not a surprise as this is a very unique and one of a kind TV series and there is nothing else like it on TV... so of course it had to be cancelled. In it's first season last year it was a modest hit and a fan favorite. Unfortunately the writers strike ended it's first season with only 9 episodes and ABC never repeated it during the break so it disappeared for nine months. The second season has been great it seems the audience never came back. At least we got 13 episodes this season and since the producer said they ended it on a cliffhanger he plans to continue the story via comic book or maybe even a movie.. so Pushing Daisies may be gone from the airwaves, it's not the last will see of this wonderfully whimsical world.

Feeling Better

Today I am feeling better, I had another rough night last night as my body was so achy and I couldn't find a good position to sleep in. I did go into work around noon and that was a mistake. You know how you feel better so you start to do your normal stuff but you really aren't better and should rest... well I made the mistake of thinking I was better.. got home around 5pm and rested the rest of the day..

Food Poisoning

So about 10pm last night I wasn't feeling so hot. I felt as though I was going to throw up and my stomach was being ripped apart. I knew something was wrong and because it came on so fast I realized that it must have been food poisoning. Harry and I had the same dinner (I made Chicken and rice) and he was fine so I'm thinking it was the Jack in the box I had for lunch. All I know is that I was in major pain and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I slept on an off getting up over and over to run to the bathroom thinking I was going to throw up.. well nothing happened. I had taken several baths to sooth my stomach. I had not eaten all day and had no desire too.

Well today I called into work and told them I wasn't coming in as there was no way I was able to stand for more then five minutes. Finally around 10am after another bath I was going to make my self-vomit. I knew that once I got this stuff out of my stomach I would start to feel better. Well I got out of the bath and was about to stick my finger down my throat when it happened. Four times in a row.. I hadn't thrown up in six or seven years and it's such a horrible feeling.

But once it was over I started to feel better and I even had a few spoon full of tomato soup, which my wonderful husband made for me. Slowly I started to feel better.. not great but better.. I hope to feel better tomorrow.

Official Star Trek Movie Trailer

Today Paramount released the new Star Trek trailer in all its HD glory. I had seen a bootleg version of it on Friday but it was like night and day. I watched the trailer six or seven times and downloaded it in HD and watch it frame by frame. This day started off pretty rocky but ended on a high with this fantastic trailer.. and the funny thing is my brother called me and said.. I just saw the trailer.. OMG when are we going to see this.. and if you know my brother he is a huge Star Wars fan and never much of a Star Trek fan so this was a big deal.

You can check out the trailer here.. http://www.startrekmovie.com/

It's Monday

Today I was woken up to the noise of repair crews scrapping the asphalt off of the street in front of our house. Trucks and large machines start to arrive around 5am and they start making very loud noises around 7. I guess it's all for the better as we will be get a new street and this wasn't a total surprised as we were warned but it's still not fun being woken up an hour before you were suppose to get up.

What made it even worse is that I had gotten a call from one of my Loggers over the weekend that they were having problems with the system so I had to get into work extra early anyways to figure out what the problem was.

What a great way to start my week.

Driving to Dads

Today Harry and I went to visit my Dad. At first I wasn't sure we were going to go because of all the fires in the area. We knew freeways were shut down and that traffic might be really bad. So we checked online to see if any of the freeways we take were closed and everything was opened at the moment. I then called Dad to see what it was like out in his area and he said it was blue skies and not a hint of smoke in the area.

So Harry and I got in the jeep and headed over. It was hot in the low 90's and we had to roll down the windows so as we were speeding along we had smoke filled hot air rushed into the jeep. I kept looking around and noticing that everyone around us had their windows rolled up but Harry and I had decided that we would rather have smoky air then be sweaty and hot. As we drove the air got worse and worse. I had never seen it that bad here in southern California. The skies were brown and the air had a brown haze hanging about.

Once we got to Burbank the air was really bad and I started to have breathing problems. I asked if Harry was okay and he said he wasn't having any problems. it was though I was at a high elevation and the oxygen was very thin. I almost turned around and went home as I didn't like the feeling of not being able to breath. But we continued and as we went we would find decent area of light brown skies to really bad areas of dark brown skies.

We saw blue skies as we got to Chino Hills, it was amazing as it just suddenly was blue and there was no smoke as far as the eye could see. When we got to dads in Corona it was a beautiful sunny blue day. It seems the hills kept the smoke back and you would never know there were raging fires just a few miles away. So we spent a very nice "smoke" free day with my Dad, brother and sister-in-law.

Worked on BTS of The Guild

A few days ago I sent my first pass of the Behind the Scenes piece I was working on for The Guild. Yesterday both Felicia and Kim looked at it and gave me some notes. I also interviewed the director for the piece. Now I just need to find some free time to work on my 2nd pass.

Another Guild Shoot / Fires

When I woke up today and took the dog out for her morning walk it was like walking through fog, but it wasn't fog, it was thick black smoke from the surrounding fires. There was ash raining down and if you didn't know better you would have sworn the fire was a block away and not 10 miles up in the hills.

It was another Guild shoot today and I figured since it was at Felicia's house in Hollywood I would be able to escape the smoke and ash... well I was wrong. More fires had started south of Hollywood and combined with the ones raging north of Hollywood there was smoke everywhere. We all did our best and finished shooting. It was another 12-hour day and it was kind of bitter sweet as this was going to be the last day of shooting at Felicia's house as we are starting to wrap up season two of The Guild. Besides the bad air it was another fun shoot.

2 Minutes of New Who

Today in England they premiered the Children in Need special and like past years they had a little clip from Dr. Who. Normally it's a scene that plays between the two seasons but this year they played the first few minutes of the next Dr. Who Christmas special. I managed to get my hands on a copy and got to enjoy some new Who. It was only two minutes but it looked great and I'm looking forward to this years Christmas special.

Another Trailer.. well kind of

Today with the new 007 movie they released the new Star Trek movie trailer. I did manage to find a bootleg version of is pretty good. After watching it I am really excited for this movie. It looks like Trek and has some Trek qualities but man it feels totally different then Trek. I've heard good and bad things from friends who have seen the trailer. I don't think you can judge the entire movie based on this two minutes of footage but I know the more I see of this movie the more excited I become.. can't wait till next summer.

Harry Potter Trailer

Today out of nowhere WB released a new full length Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie trailer. This was such a wonderful surprise. The trailer is AWESOME. As you know I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and as some of you may know the movie was suppose to come out today but due to the recent strikes they postponed the opening till next summer, as WB had no good flicks to carry the summer of 09. So instead of the movie we get a really cool movie trailer. The trailer was fantastic and I must have watched it at least ten times and then downloaded the HD version and watched it frame by frame. This made a stressful day at work so much better. You can check it out here..

More Guild Stuff

Tonight I had one of the Guild cast members come over to my house to record some lines to help fill out the piece that I am working on. It's getting closer to being finished.

Uncle Kenny

Today on my way home from work I got a call from my brother and he said.. "how are you doing Uncle Kenny". It took me a second then realized what he said. After trying for 2 1/2 years my sister-in-law is pregnant. I have never heard my brother so happy or proud. This is their first child and will be my first niece or nephew. We are all very excited.

This pregnancy won't be easy but we are all hoping for the best and in about eight months we should have a new addition to our family.

Mom's Birthday

Happy Birthday Mom.. hope you have a great day.. love you.

Editing The Guild BTS

Today I got to re-cut the BTS piece that I am currently working on. Since I got footage of my interview with Felicia I wanted to re-work the piece. Right now it runs about 3 1/2 minutes. I still have to do some ADR with one of the cast members and then add some music and polish it up. I hope to have it done be next weekend.

Sunday, November 9, 2008

Another Guild Shoot

Today we shot a "special" Guild episode. Can't really say much about it but it was half a crew so things were a bit quieter and we all wore many hats. Not only did I do BTS footage but I also helped with art direction. I also was able to interview Felicia for the BTS piece that I am currently editing. It was another fun 12-hour shoot.

Star Trek The Experience Lives

There have been rumors that Star Trek The Experience will live on in Las Vegas and today I read a pretty cool article giving more details about the new Experience. It's now going to be located downtown at Neonopolis. They say parts of it will be open by May for the new movie so all we can do is wait and see. It very exciting news and I hope everything pans out.

Podcasting and Editing BTS

This morning I did my podcast with Rick and Jen. I don't think I have mentioned my podcast before. I've been doing a podcast called The Ready Room for the Treks in sci fi forums where I run a rpg (role playing game). I've been doing it once a week for the past 40 weeks. So I did another episode of that then I started to edit one of the BTS feature that is due December 1st.

Rico's Birthday

Happy Birthday to one of the coolest podcasters out there. I met Rico through his podcast Treks in Sci Fi and his podcast forums. Thanks Rico for the years of entertainment.

Another Great Clone Wars

Once again I'm blogging about my love for the new Clone Wars cartoon series. This episode was set around one of my favorite characters R2D2. It was a fun roller costar ride and I literally yell "No" when it ended with a To Be Continued. This series continue to amaze me with their stories and I look forward to new episodes every week.

Prop 8

Well I woke up this morning and jumped on my computer to see if a miracle had happened.. but atlas Prop 8 passed 52% to 48% Marriage in California is now defined as one man and one woman which means gay marriages are banned. I have to say that I'm not surprised; in recent weeks the trend was leaning for it to pass. I really don't know why people care if gay people marry or not, we're not hurting anyone. We want to be treated like human being and not second-class citizens. Of course protest have been popping up all over the place.. this issue is far from over.

They may have won this battle but the war is just beginning.

Prop 8

I don't know even what to say.. this night started off so great with president elect Obama. Then the local news comes on and we find out that Prop 8 is winning the Ban on gay marriage is going to pass. As of right now it's too close to call as there are still a few million votes to count. But things aren't looking so good. I'm going to bed and hope things look better tomorrow when I get up.

President Barack Obama

Today history has been made. The United States of America elected its first African American President Mister Barack Obama.

I watched the polls all day today and at about 4pm the results started to come in. The later it got the better it looked for Obama. By the time I got home from work Obama had won Ohio and New Mexico who traditionally voted Republican. Harry and I sat there all night watching the results until 8pm moments after the CA polls closed the Networks called the election for Barack Obama. Harry punches the air and yelled. I was speechless and had tears in my eyes.

Soon after McCain came out and gave his concession speech, which was very gracious. I have nothing against McCain, it's the people he surrounds himself with that I don't like. And about a half hour later Obama came out and gave his speech and again I cried.

People always comment about JFK and how they felt hearing him speak and I finally know how they feel. When Obama speaks my heart swells. He brings hope and change and the outlook that things will be better. It might not happen in the four years of his presidency but it will happen. Na sayers have asked me why I believe in him as he hasn't done much politically and I just tell them ... Obama brings hope.. and hope brings change.

Election Day

Today is Election Day... this is probably the most important election that I have voted in since I started voting. I'm a Democrat and a gay man so I will be voting for Barack Obama as our next president. I feel he is the best man of the job. Bush has torn this country apart and Obama can put it back together.

There are also several propositions on the ballot, the biggest one for me is prop 8 the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. It looked like it my go down in defeat but the past few weeks tides have been changing.. I'm worried.

New Gig

Today I start my new job. I'll be Post Production Supervisor on the Discovery channel show Deadliest Catch. This is the fifth season. It's going to be a tough show as there is a lot of footage and very little time to get it in the system and cut. I'm the only one working in the office this week. But soon the post staff will be six editors, three assistant editors and seven loggers.

A cool thing about this job is it should run till July/August.

Another Guild Shoot

Today was another guild shoot.. seems like things are slowing down now. We shot at Felicia's house with Tink, Clara and Bladzz. It was another 12 hour shoot day. I got more interviews for my BTS extras and they asked to me be an extra in one of the scenes, which is always fun.

I saw the first three episodes of the second season and they are fantastic. This second season is shaping up to be 100 times better then the first and that's saying alot since the first season is AWESOME. Anyways another fun day on the set of The Guild.

Happy Halloween

Today instead of going to parties Harry and I decided to stay home and pass out candy to the neighbor kids. We bought an assortment of candy and when I poured them into the bowl I thought to myself "Man we are going to run out".

I dressed up in my Harry Potter outfit which the kids loved and passed out candy..well the night started a little slow, we got a few kids but nothing like I expected. Then between 8 and 9 we got the bulk of the kids and then a few more after 9. Over all we had about 25 kids, which I thought was a little lite.. and I was totally wrong about the candy.. we have a huge bowl full left. All in all

Obama for President

sat down today and watched the Obama 30 minute video that was on last night at 8pm. First let me say I was a Hillary supporter but when she lost out to Obama I supported him. But after this video I am 100% behind this man. There is a charisma about him. When he speaks my heart swells. I teared up listening to his speeches and listening to what he has planned for our country. People compare him to JFK and I agree with them. He is going to make a FANTASTIC President.

Digiziting The Guild

I finally was able to sit down and hook up my camera to my computer and start to digitize The Guild BTS footage. I have 27 hours shoot so far.. it's going to take me a few days to get it all in. Once it's all in I can start to cut. I have a deadline for one piece by December 1st.. so the pressure is on.

New Website

Now that I have my own Domain (Geekyfanboy.com) I am revamping my entire website. The only problem is I don't know about web building. I used yahoo pagebuilder which is a very simple click and move type thing. My new website I am trying to build with Dreamweaver and HTML and it's proving a lot harder then I expected. I did manage to build my front page but when you expand or reduce the window every shifts around.. I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later but I don't expect to get my new site done any time soon. I'll keep you posted.

Harry Potter Trailer

Today they released the new International Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince teaser trailer.... all I have to say is OMG. So many cool scenes that we didn't see in the US teaser trailer. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but I can say this movie is going to ROCK!!!!!!!!

Visiting Dad

Today Harry and I went and visited my Dad. We haven't seen him since my birthday at the end of September. We normally go every other week but with The Guild shoots every weekend the past few weeks we haven't been able to met up. Today we took him out for Chinese food. It was alot of fun.

Happy Birthday Rick

Today is one of my good friends Birthday.. Rick Moyer from Aberdeen Washington. Rick and I have never met in person but met through a sci fi and fantasy forum called Treks in Sci Fi. He is one of the nicest and sweetest guys I know. I wish him all the best on his special day.

The Guild Shoot

Today was another Guild shoot.. got more interviews. This was an unusual shoot because we had to do pick ups in Hollywood area then drive to the Valley for the second half of the shoot day. We actually got out pretty early.. well not real early but it was still light outside when I headed home and that's always a good thing. It's sad but the shoots are starting to wind down.. only have a few more to go. I have to start cutting together my special BTS pieces.

Doctors Visit

Today I got a response from my Doctor asking me to come in so they could check out this lump.. just to be safe. He was booked but his colleague was available so I went to see him. Of course as I'm driving up they call me and ask if I can come in later as they double booked for my time.. I told them I was parking the car and they said they would figure something out. I waited about 45 minutes in the exam room for Dr. Peters. Luckily I had my ipod and was listening to Harry Potter books so I was a happy camper. Dr. Peters did the exam and of course the bump was gone by then. He checked me out and couldn't find anything wrong. He said it couldn't be a spider bites as those last longer then two days, he said it could be result of an swollen lymph node.. but he said they are not normally up that high.. so we really don't know why I had that lump.. could have been a quick 24 hour infection or some sort. He said I looked fine and since I was feeling better all seemed good.

Voted

Today I voted via mail.. this is the first time I have done it this way and I don't understand why everyone doesn't do it this way. It's super easy and very fast. So I knew who I wanted to vote for and knew another few days were not going to change my mind.. so I sent out my vote today... GO OBAMA!!!!

BTW.. still feeling a bit under the weather and still have the lump on the back of my head.. I emailed my doctor to see if I should come in.. I'll keep you posted.

Cleaning/Website/Feeling Sick

Today I managed to clean up around the house.. the big thing was cleaning up the garage. It's been a mess ever since the wedding and I really wanted to clean it up so I can start working out again.. our equipment is in there. So after Harry took Daisy to the park I jumped on in and cleaned it up fairly quickly.

I also started working on my new website.. it's tough since I really don't know how to use HTML, Dreamweaver and Joomla but I'm learning. I don't think I'll get the new site up and running for a few months.. but how knows...

Towards the evening I wasn't feeling so hot.. had an earache and sore throat and this massive headache. It was coming from the back of my head and when I went to feel back there I had a huge lump. Not sure where that came from, could have been a spider bite, there were lots of webs and I destroying in the garage. Could have something to do with my ear and throat hurting.. not sure.. I'll see if it's better tomorrow as of now it hurts and it's tough to lay down on that side... I'll keep you posted.

1st day off

Today is my first day of my in between job vacation. Not sure if it's going to be one, two, or three weeks.. so I'm enjoying everyday I can. Today I did nothing but sit on the computer and watching TV.. it was a nice way to spend my first day off.

Another Guild Weekend

This weekend was another Guild weekend.. Saturday we were at Felicia house shooting Vork and Zaboo scenes. We ran a bit long and couldn't get everything that was needed. I continued to get great BTS footage. For Sunday we were shooting in Pasadena with several new cast members and Felicia. We also had a SFX make up artist who did some work (I can't say any more :) ). He has worked in the biz for over thirty years and it was very interesting and cool chatting with him. He worked on Voyager seasons 1 - 3 and several of the Star Trek movies , #4, 5, and 6 as well as some of episodes from Enterprise. On Voyager the main person he worked on was Roxanne Dawson who played Bellana Torres. Being a Trekkie geek it was fun listening to all his interesting stories. I could have spent hours talking to him. Anyways Sunday's shoot went really well and we seemed to be ahead of schedule.. so all in all another fun weekend working on The Guild season two. I also started crew and cast interviews..

New Gig

Today on my last day on my current job I got a call my boss on my current job and she offered me the Post Super job on the upcoming sixth season of Deadliest Catch for Discovery. Of course I said yes and the really cool part is that the job doesn't start for two to three weeks.. so I'll get some much needed time off between gigs.

Last Day on America's Toughest Jobs

Today is my last day on America's Toughest Jobs. It's been a good six months worth of work.. I've had good and bad days but for the most part it was a good experience. As for the show it didn't do as well as NBC was hoping and it doesn't look like it will get a second season.

New Trek Pixs

Today Paramount released five new Star Trek pictures from the up coming re-imagined Star Trek franchise.. all I have to say is OMG... I love them. I like the look of the ship, the look of the uniforms and the look of the much younger crew. I was never a huge fan of the original series so the changes made don't really bother me. I am so pumped for this new movie.. I miss having new Trek in my life.

Monday, October 13, 2008

Final Week

This is my final week working on America's Toughest Jobs.. it's been a long seven months on this gig. I've had some good times and not so good times.. but in the end we made a really good 10 episode series. I don't have anything lined up just yet. I hope to take a few weeks off before starting a new gig.. but will see what happens.

Day Off

Today was my first day off in 21 days.. between my regular job and doing volunteer 15-hour days with The Guild I haven't had a day off in a long time. I had planned so many things to get done on this day. I wanted to visit my Dad, do laundry and various other things that I have put off because my weekends have been full. I got up today and felt really good.. did a few things around the house, cleaned up the kitchen and fixed the back door. Then I jumped online and spent a few hours online. Once Harry got up I made us breakfast and then we planned to go visit day. Well about the time we were actually suppose to be at Dad's both Harry and I were sitting on the couch watching TV. So I called Dad and told him that we weren't going to make it down and will try for next weekend.

This opened up our schedule a bit and now we had time to do laundry. Well lunchtime came and we ate and again sat on the couch and watched TV. Yeah we did that the rest of the day. Neither of us really moved and to be honest after 21 days of work it was nice to just hang out with Harry on the couch and watch some TV.

Blizzcon and The Guild

Today I got to go to Blizzcon, if you don't know what that is it's a huge convention for video game fanatics, this year being held at the Anehiem Convetion Center. I had never gone before not being a gamer myself but The Guild were the guest of houner and they were doing a panel and autograph signing and I thought it would be cool to video tape this for their BTS DVD extra stuff. So the wonderful Kim (Producer of The Guild) got me a "All Access" pass for the day.

I got there about 10am and there were geeks and nerds everyone. It reminded me alot of Comic Con. But it's very different once you are inside. There are a few booths and table but the majority of the area is made of to a few hundred computers. There were three main game areas, Diablo III, StarcraftII and World of Warcraft.

As soon as I got there Kim took me to Feleica who was playing Diablo III. I said a quick hello.. didn't want to bother her and then headed to The Guild table where they were selling cast photos, an exclusive drawing of the cast as their characters (which is beatiftul) and season one DVD. I hung out there and took some video, Guild stars would come and go, they would sign a few autographs and then head out to play a game. We all did lunch and headed up to the panel room. The room was packed, holding about 500 people and tons had to be turned away. (when will these people ever learn. Some this popular needs the largest room.) Anyways the panel went great.. the crowd loved them and I had a front middle seat and got some great video. They also showed a rough cut of episode one of season two and the crowd went crazy.. as did I. It was sooooo good and I can't wait to see the final product.

After the panel everyone headed down the the table to sign autographs. They were scheduled to sign from 3pm to 5pm. When we got down there, there was already a long line of people waiting. We got set up and started to sign. I videoed taked the autograph session as well as the super long line. I was going to videotape fans but it was so loud in that place. They had at one point at least 400+ people waiting. The autograph session went to about 5:30pm before the line finally died down. At this point I jumped in line because I'm a huge fan and I got the entire cast to sign a group cast photo as well as one of those beautiful drawing of the cast.

After the signing a few of them left for the day (the non gamers) while other went back to the floor to play some more games and Felicia and Jeff (Vork) stayed around and signed autographs for the late comers and did a few international interviews. I walked around to take some footage of the con it's self.

We finally closed the table down around 6:30pm and it was time for me to head home. With my Blizzcon goody bag in hand and some great footage for the BTS it was a wonderful day.

One more to go

Yay.. it's Friday and we finally finished episode nine of America's Toughest Jobs. I have one more week on this job and one more episode to finish. I can't wait for this job to be over.. it's been a long seven months. So are I have nothing lined up. I have a few leads but nothing solid yet. I would love to take off a few weeks before starting a new job. But if something comes up sooner I can say no... wish me luck this last week.

Doctor's Appointment

Today I had a doctor’s appointment.. it was a follow-up to do some blood work to make sure the new cholesterol and testosterone medicine weren't effecting my in a negative way. Of course I have gained even more weight.. surpassing the horrible number of 200. I now weigh 205.. that was a wake up call.. time to start working out again and trying to eat better :)

I did find out why I am hungry all the time 24/7. The testosterone that I am taking increased my appetite 10 fold. He said it's like being a 12 old kid again. Now if only my voice would deepen.. that's a side effect I could live with.

I find out next week if the cholesterol medicine is effecting my liver.. so far so good.

Online Purchases

Today I got a 1 terabyte hard drive. I currently own a 500-gigabyte hard drive but it can no longer back up my computer as it is out of space.. so I have two choices.. get rid of stuff off my computer or buy a larger storage drive.. well the choice was easy. :) So I shopped around and found a pretty good deal on ebay. Maxtor 1 TB External USB/Firewire 400 Hard Drive and total with shipping was only $190.00. As soon as I get this I can back up my computer and start digitizing all this BTS Guild footage so I can start creating magic.

Also today I purchased from Amazon.com Pushing Daisies Season One boxset. I love this series and some friends of mine from down in Texas sent me a gift card. Once I had the gift card I knew exactly what I wanted to buy.. so thank you Jen and Dave for buying me Pushing Daisies Season One boxset for my Birthday.

Logging Footage

Today was really slow at work so I decided that I would start logging the seventeen tapes I have shot so far for The Guild BTS DVD extra stuff. I labeled all the tapes and began to watch. I managed to get through four and a half hours of footage so far. So much cool stuff.. I just have to come up with a way to cut it all together and have it make sense. At least I was able to get started on the logging.. I hope to get more done this week.

Clone Wars TV Series

Well I was finally about to sit down before work today and watch the first two episodes on this series... I LOVED THEM...

What a great way to start the series with a Yoda episode. And as many have said this was the ESB Yoda.. when he gave his speech to the clones about how special each one was and with the music, not even realizing it I had tears in my eyes.. it amazes me that a cartoon can move me so much but then again it's Star Wars and Star Wars has always been very special to me.

Episode two was fun.. gotta to see more of the Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship which I really enjoyed from the movie.

I can't wait for more of this series.. I'm so excited that I'll get 30 minutes (well 22 minutes) of Star Wars goodness each week.

More of The Guild Goodness

Today was another Guild shoot day.. my fifth so far. Though they are alot of fun they are starting to take their toll on me. Working long hours Monday through Friday at America's Toughest Jobs then working 12 to 15 hours doing stuff for The Guild is not only hard of my "old" body but I miss Harry. I see him when I get home but lately it's only been a few hours before I go to bed to get up and do it all again the next day. I haven't had a day off in the past 20 days. Not that I'm complaining and I know it's only for a short time. And in the end it will all be worth it with all the cool DVD BTS stuff I get to create from all this footage.

So today was another long 15 hour day. All cast members were shooting today which was kind of fun. Since this is my fifth shoot I'm being more selective on what I shoot and I'm taking more photos with flash for better results. I'll be starting interviews soon and I really do need to start logging all these footage.

Next weekend I'm going to Blizzcon (gaming convention) to film their panel.. It’s only one day so I'll be off Sunday.. yay!!!

Guild Shoot.. starring the Homeless Guy #1

Today was another Guild shoot. Today shoot was in the Hollywood area (can't tell you were) and was extra special because I was going to be on camera as a homeless guy. All shoots are always fun, very busy and long. Today was no exception. One cool thing that happened today was the house we were shooting at had a chessboard and Sandeep (Zaboo) asked if I wanted to play.. so for the next eight hours we played a game of chess.. between takes we would keep coming back to the board and making moves. I hadn't played in years and with the help of our audio guy Sean I held my own for a while.. in the end Sandeep won but it was a lot of fun.

The other cool thing about today’s shoot was I was an actor as well. About mid-day it was time to shoot my scene. I had given some ragged clothes to Leah (art director) so she could dirty them up. Next I went to the make up artist and she made me look dirty and sun worn. I put on my rags and was ready for action. We were shooting out on a Hollywood street. My job was to sit against a wall with several trash bag around me and leery at Codex (Felicia Day) and Zaboo (Sandeep) when they walked by. It actually started to lightly rain while I sat there. I pretended to drink from a bag-covered bottle and we did the take over and over and over again. Between scenes I would continue to sit there as 'regular' folks would walk by and stare at me or skit by me hold their purse close to them. It was alot of fun.. will see if I make it to the final cut but nonetheless it was great that they asked me to participate in one of my favorite web series.

Today's shoot lasted 12 hours and by the end I was exhausted and ready for home as we had another shoot day tomorrow.

Pretty Cool Offer

Today I got an email from the Producers of The Guild; it's the web series I have been volunteering on the past few weekends. They asked if I would play the part of a homeless man during there up coming shoot... how cool is that?? At least I think it's cool, they said when the thought of a homeless guy they thought of me... LOL.. of course they were joking and I immediately replied with a YES. Not sure what I'll be doing but it should be fun.. I'll keep you posted.

Pushing Daisies is Back

Wooo Hooo.. Pushing Daisies is back on TV with all new episodes.. this was one of my favorite new TV series from last year. But with the writers strike we only go nine of the 22 planned episodes last year.. so it's been a long nine months waiting for new episodes and it came back in all it's Daisies goodness. Still quirky, beautifully shot and super funny the first episode of season two brought back all the magic from the first season. I can't wait for me... if you don't know what Pushing Daisies is.. check out the LINK

One Year in House

Today officially marks one year living in our house in Reseda. Can't believe a year has gone by. Luckily the owner of the house we are renting gave us the option of renewing the lease for another year without a rent increase... of course we took him up on his offer and signed another year lease. Here's to another great year in that house.

Blizzcon

Just got word that the Producers worked their magic and got permission for me to film The Guild Panel at this years Blizzcon. So it looks like I will be going down to Anaheim Saturday Oct. 11th. While I'm down there filming the panel I'll be able to interview fans of the show as well. Should make for some good BTS material for the DVD. Never been to Blizzcon.. should be fun.
