Touch

Just watched the pilot of this new Fox tv series called Touch for a second time, didn't blog about it the first time so I thought I would give my thoughts on this new series.

The pilot previewed on January 25th and the series will began on March 19th.

Kiefer Sutherland portrays Martin Bohm, a single father with an 11-year-old son who has an obsession with numbers and the ability to see interconnections within the universe, sometimes even predicting the future.

The creator is Tim Kring who also created Heroes and this pilot had that same feeling. I don't know how to explain it but this pilot just lifts your spirits, makes your heart smile. I love the idea that everyone on this planet is connected, that certain people are suppose to meet, that actions by one person can change the live of people thousands of miles away. It makes this world feel very small. That everyone is important to someone else. The last act of this pilot had me in tears the entire time. It was beyond moving, you spend the entire pilot seeing snips of different people's live and then at the end you find out that they are all connected, everything that happened was meant to be..  it's just crazy cool.

Can't wait for this series to start. You can watch the Pilot online HERE

Comic Book Men Ep 1 Review

Comic Book Men is a new reality series focused on a New Jersey-based comic book shop, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, which is owned by Kevin Smith. Smith appears in the series via narrative interstitial of a sort, wherein he and the shop's employees gather to record a podcast, but the show focuses on the shop's three employees and a non-employee who's perpetually hanging out at the store. It premiered Sunday on AMC and will be running for six episodes.

I finally sat down and watched the first episode and I have to say that overall I really enjoyed this series. I found it funny and entertaining. There were a few times where I felt as if they were "being" mean to people, and honestly that would be my only complaint. Now I know they are all "geeks" in their own right but does that give them the right to be mean to other "geeks", I don't think it does but that might just be me.

This episode has three storyline going. One was Kevin and the employees doing a video podcast, which I mentioned. They talk about various geek topics or stuff that would happen in the store.. then the second storyline had people come into the store and try and sell things to them. This is where I think they were cruel to a few of those customers (of course they didn't do in front of them but when they would leave). The final storyline was two of the employees and the guy who just hangs around have a competition to sell the most stuff at a flea market. Again lots of making fun of flea market "type" people. But it had it's funny moments. Some heartbreaking moments was then one of the guys had some Star Trek collector plates, which I collect and he was selling for $10 (crazy good deal), but when the none employee guy went over and smashed two of the plates on the ground (trying to be funny) I was not laughing. It was hard to watch someone who didn't care about these things just smash something that I put a lot of love and value into.. and he did it just to be an ass.

Other then a few faults as I mentioned I did enjoy this first episode and I'll be back to watch the second one this Sunday.

A Healthier Me - Day 25

Well after a five day hiatus due to illness I'm working out again and man does it feel great. I'm still not 100% better but I'm not sick enough to use it as an excuse to not work out .

I ampted up my workout, I'm now doing 15 reps for each set, instead of 10 and that's a huge difference.

Today's Workout:

30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical

3 sets of 15 on the curl arm for my biceps (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the back leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the free weight (110 lbs)

My arms are killing me but it was one of my better workouts. I'm losing weight because of me being sick but I need to keep the weight off so I need to work out ever harder. I've almost reach my March goal of getting below 200 pounds. Still got 14 days to go and if I keep up with the way things are going I should reach it with no problem.

M*A*S*H

Today we cover Season 2, Episode #2 - 5 O'Clock Charlie
26th Episode Overall
Directed by Norman Tokar
Written by Larry Gelbart, Keith Walker & Laurence Marks
Production code K403
Original air date September 22, 1973

Set during the Korean War in the 1950’s

Plot Summary: For six weeks, an ammunition depot near the camp has been the target of a punctual but inept North Korean bomber pilot. Every day at 5:00 he flies overhead and attempts to hit the depot with a single hand-thrown bomb. The pilot, nicknamed "5 O'Clock Charlie," has been so reliably unsuccessful that the denizens of the 4077th have begun a betting pool based on how far away from the target his bomb will land. Only Frank and Margaret regard "Charlie" as a serious threat. Frank requests an anti-aircraft gun, and Brigadier General Crandall Clayton comes to the camp to assess the situation. Clayton, who has placed the ammo dump near the hospital so that the enemy will leave it alone (a tactic he says he learned from the Germans), is initially skeptical of the need for a gun; on the next raid, though, Charlie destroys not the ammo dump but Gen. Clayton's jeep. He agrees to send the gun, and Frank takes charge of it.

Hawkeye and Trapper argue that the presence of the anti-aircraft gun will attract more competent bombers, noting that "fire draws fire," but Frank is more interested in drilling his "platoon" of three Korean soldiers. Eventually, Hawkeye, Trapper and Cardozo conclude that the problem is not the gun, but the ammo dump. They dye sheets and place them on the ammo dump to help Charlie find his target. When Charlie makes his next pass, Hawkeye and Trapper confuse Frank's men into aiming the gun directly at the ammo dump. Charlie misses his target yet again, but when Frank orders his troops to fire the gun, they hit the ammo dump, destroying it

Hope you enjoy it,

Valentines Day

Well this is the first Valentines Day in eight years that I don't have a Valentine. But it's not a big deal because when I did have a Valentine we didn't do much for this day to begin with. I find it crazy that we pick one day out of the year to show our love for our partner in life. To me everyday should be Valentines. Everyday you should show your love for your significant other.

And I can say without a doubt at this moment in time I have never been loved by more people in my entire life. I have some of the greatest friends that I think I will ever have and some best friends who will be my best friends the rest of my life. I may not see them as much as I would like to, but I think of them everyday, they are always in my heart and they can keep a smile on my face when times are tough with just a single memory. You all know who you are and just know that you have made my life so much richer with your love and friendship. I'm the luckiest guy on the planet.

A Healthier Me - Day 22

Well I've been sick and didn't work out on Thursday, Friday or today because of it. But it is Monday and I like to weight myself in every Monday.

Today I weighted in at 204.5

That's 3.5 pounds lighter.. even though I haven't worked out in a few days I have lost the most amount of weight so far... guess being sick works out well. I have found myself eating a light breakfast, good lunch and a light dinner with very little snacking between.

I hate being sick but I guess there is an upside to feeling like crap!!

Gonna try and get back out there to work out.. I actually miss it.

My New Podcast Logo

I put out a call on twitter and facebook asking my very talented artist friends for some help on my Geekyfanboy Production Logo as well as my Alien Nation The Newcomers Podcast Logo.

My buddy Ken Todd who drew this AWESOME picture of me for my 40th birthday responded and said he would give it a shot. Now I know Ken can do great work as he did the drawing of me and also produced a very cool logo that I'm using as well for my Confessions of a Fanboy podcast. But what I didn't know is how FANTASTIC it would actually turn out. All I said to Ken was I wanted my brother and I with "alien" spotted heads and in front of mics. He took that idea and ran with it. He even added his own touch by writing in Tenctonese below The Newcomers Podcast "With Kenny & Michael" Something that only true Alien Nation fans would get.

I was truly blown away by this and so was my brother.. so much so that Michael is using this photo as his facebook photo... we both just love it.

And as soon as I figure out what kind of logo I want for my Geekyfanboy Productions he's going to take a crack at that and I'm sure that's going to be incredible as well.

Thanks Ken for doing this for me, you truly are a very talented artist.

Breakfast with Chris

After the fun filled weekend the good times were not over yet. Chris and Jes both crashed at my place after Disneyland. Jes had to leave early to get back up north to put in a half day of work. Chris on the other hand got Monday off so he made us biscuits and gravy with sausages for breakfast.

We ate breakfast while we watched the latest Once Upon A Time (it was AWESOME). Around 10am Chris headed back up north. I couldn't have asked for a better way to start my week.

Disneyland with Guildies

My weekend of fun continues with a visit to Disneyland. If you read my previous post you know Chris, Anthony, Jes, Brian and I rented a hotel room across the street from Disneyland. We got up, had some breakfast and headed over to Disneyland. Got there around 8:30am and picked up Jes' ticket. Aaron, Rupert, Jen and Kim joined us and we made our way into the park. This was Jes' first time at Disneyland so we stopped by guest service to get a 1st Time button for her.

Our first stop was Star Tours to get a fast pass, we then stopped by the magic castle to get a group picture. After that we went to Adventure Land to ride Indiana Jones ride. We then made our way to Splash Mountain. Now I wasn't thrilled about this as I didn't want to get wet. We got in line and Robert joined us. This was the first time I got to meet Robert, we chat on facebook and twitter, and I may have seen him on set of The Guild but we never chatted. Got on the ride and got totally wet, well we all did but I have to say it was fun riding this with all my friends and all of us getting wet.

After Splash Mountain we headed over to The Haunted Mansion and pretty much just walked on to that ride. It was a first for many of the folks in my group. After that it was Big Thunder Mountain. I enjoy this roller coaster and had a great time trying to take pictures while on the ride.

After Big Thunder we headed back to Star Tours to use our fast pass. Of course all of us being big geeks and Star Wars fans this was one ride everyone was looking forward to. We all had passes except Robert because he joined our party late but it just so happen that Aaron found a valid fast pass so Robert was able to join us... yay. Before we got on the ride we got another fast pass for a later time. We then rode Star Tours and had an fantastic time. The ride is great but again it's the people who are on the ride with you that can make it fantastic or just okay.. we had a fantastic energetic group.

Once we got off Star Tours Robert's friends had arrived so we parted ways. Kim also had to get going for some family time. So the rest of us went to grab some lunch. Half of us wanted Corn Dogs from the Little Red Wagon and the other half wanted gumbo. So we went our separate ways and met back up in the dining area. While we were walking to get corn dogs Chris made the comment about getting two corn dogs and somehow we got on the topic of putting both corn dogs into his mouth. Since we are both fans of How I Meet Your Mother he mentioned a "slap" bet. That's were the winner of the bet get's to slap the loser across the face. So I made Chris a slap bet that he could not put both corn dogs into his mouth at the same time. So when we had our dogs and were sitting down Chris attempted to put both corn dogs into his mouth.. well all I have to say is Chris has a big mouth and managed to get both of them in there. So I lost the slap bet and now have to wait until that moment when Chris decided to slap me.

After lunch Chris, Anthony, Jes, Jen, Aaron, Rupert, Brian and I headed over to Fantasy land and Toon Town before taking the train back to main street and headed over to Disney's California Adventures but first we meet up with Jerry and Gina making our party 10. We were making our way to Tower of Terror when "beer" caught the eye of several folks who will remain nameless. When said person heard that California Adventure served beer they couldn't wait to get over there. After grabbing some beer and soda we got in line for Tower of Terror. I made the mistake of telling Anthony that have been working on not getting embarrassed by others so of course he grabs me and yells to everyone around that "Kenny gets embarrassed" over and over. Of course everyone looks over at us and I'm wrestling to escape from his embrace. It was good times.

We finished Tower of Terror (one of my favorite over in this park) and then made our way to Monsters Inc but the wait for it was crazy and though I like the ride didn't think it was worth it.. so instead we did Muppet Vision 3D. After Muppet's we headed over to Screaming but the line was long so we got a fast pass and decided to get in line for Toy Story Mania. We waited for over an hour in that line but luckily everyone seemed to really enjoy the ride.  While we were in line we noticed that we were one person down. Aaron had slipped away and no knew where he was. Come to find out that he went to get a drink and couldn't find his way back to us and since his phone was dead he couldn't call. So he went back to his car to charge his phone.

After Mania we meet back up with Aaron and rode Screaming, everyone really enjoyed that one. After Screaming we did Soarin over California. Jes really enjoyed that one and I hadn't ridden it in a while so that was fun. By this time it was dark and ElecTRONica  was going so we headed over and went to Flynn's Arcade. Everyone LOVED Flynn's, we played old school video games, got some drinks and just hung out and rested for a bit. We meet up with Jessica and her two nieces.

We headed back to Disneyland to Star Tour for a second time with our fast passes. Since Jessica and her 2 nieces didn't have passes they went on to something else. We did have one extra pass (Kim got one and had to leave before using it) so we offered it to Jerry or Gina and Gina was kind enough to let Jerry use it. So we got on Star Tours and I asked for the front and all but three of use were in the front row (which is always a blast). This was a special ride because Brian from our group was chosen to be the Rebel Spy.

Aaron left after Star Tours and we met back up with the others. We then headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean and attempted to get on that ride for the second time but once again it was closed so instead we did Indiana Jones for a second time. Jessica had these fast passes that you could use up to 6 people with each pass. We had 12.. but then Luis joined in on the fun. So Brian rested while 12 of us went on Indiana Jones. After Indy Jerry and Gina left.

We then went over to Michael Jackson's Captain EO Tribute show. I love this show, I mean it's cheesy and the effect aren't the best (well they were when this first premiered over 15 years ago) but I still love it. Some of the folks had never seen this but seemed to be less thrill when it was over.

After Captain EO we made our way to Space Mountain for a second time.  Again with the help of Jessica's fast pass we got on in no time and this time Luis and I rode in the very front and experience the ride in a whole different way.

We thought Space Mountain would be our last ride but as we were walking by Star Tour we noticed that the line was only 20 minutes so we got in and rode it for a third time.

At this time it was around 11:30pm, park closed at midnight but we all called it a night. We said our goodbyes to everyone and Jes, Anthony and I headed back to my jeep. Chris was taking Jen home and then going to my place to crash for the night.

And for those wondering about the slap bet, Chris never slapped me but loved the fact that he tortured me all day with the threat of a slap.. good times.

I dropped off Anthony around 1am and got to the freeway when he texted me that he had left his phone in my car so we had to turn around and go back. We finally made it home around 2am. Chris was already passed out. And Jes and I soon followed.

It was a FANTASTIC trip to Disneyland. I love Disneyland but it's the people you go with that make it special and this group of friends that went were as special as they get.  Thanks to Chris, Jes, Anthony, Jen, Rupert, Luis, Aaron, Brian, Robert, Kim, Jerry, Gina and Jessica for making this a very memorable Disneyland trip.
