Cryptocurrency

About four years ago, I purchased some Cryptocurrency. I had been hearing things around the office and was interested... my friend Tony was pretty knowledgeable on crypto so we would talk at lunches and I had a few extra dollars lying around that I was okay with if I lost so I invested in three crypto currency; Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. Over the years I watched all three of these fall to the point were my investment was a third of what I put into it. I wasn't worried as Tony always said this was the long haul investment.

The past few months my three cryptos started to rise and this past week they got to the point that my investment has now all most tripled my money. So I pulled out my initial investment and am now just watching my rewards earn additional money with no worries if anything goes south.

Of course now I wish I had invested much more then I did but that's the thing with stocks/crypto you never know what's going to happen and I wasn't willing to lose to much. But I'm happy to say that my first endeavor into crypto/stocks risks paid off.

Last Day of Work

Today is my last day on the revival series Monster Garage S1 for Discovery +. It was a crazy ride but in the end we created 8 fantastic and fun episodes that I hope you all check them out.

I was suppose to start back up on Jay Leno's Garage S6 but because of Covid and California lock down my start date has been postponed until early March (hopefully). So that means I have an entire month off and I can't tell you how excited I am to have this time off. Of course I won't be able to go anywhere which is a bummer but I plan to work on podcasts, continuing with my MASH 4077 Podcast and The Geek Roundtable Podcast. But I'm also reviving an older podcast called Confessions of a Fanboy (Fangirl, Fanperson), which I'm currently looking for guests. I also may do some special episodes for my Alien Nation The Newcomers Podcast, Knights of the Guild podcast and My Gimpy Life podcast.

Besides podcasting there will come a time with comic cons are back and I want to be ready with new cosplays. So I'll continue to work on my Barley (from Onward) and Mr. Tumnus (Chronicle of Narnia) and repair/fix anything from my Hobbit and Twi-lik Jedi cosplay.

So it's going to be a busy month for me but between cospalying and podcasting I'll fine time to workout, watch TV and relax of course.

My Podcasts

I'm currently going through all my podcasts and creating an archive of every podcast I have hosted, edited, co-hosted, guest hosted or did a segment for. It's going to take time to gather all that info and I don't know what I'm going to do when I have it all but preliminary numbers are pretty crazy...

Here's what I have gathered so far. These number are AS OF the end of 2020.

The MASH 4077 Podcast - 243 Episodes

Alien Nation The Newcomers Podcast - 36 Episodes

We Are Nerdstrong Podcast - 47 Episodes

Confessions of a Fanboy Podcast - 12 Episodes

My Gimpy Life Podcast - 19 Episodes

Knights of the Guild Podcast - 132 Episodes

The Geek Roundtable Podcast - 37 Episodes

That's a total of 526 podcast episodes

Then there are the 71 Ready Room podcasts that I did for the Treks in Sci-fi Podcast and another 10 or so guest podcasts I have done over the years.

I have roughly created, produced, edited, hosted/co-hosted over 600+ podcast episodes since starting in Jan of 2008. And what is great is I'm far from finishing. As current podcasts come to an end I have many more ideas for more podcasts so I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

If you're interested in listening to any of the above or getting more info about the podcast please check out my website GeekyfanboyProductions.com

Unknowingly Affecting Lives

I got an email this morning from a listener of my MASH 4077 Podcast. He's been listening for a few years and loves it, he was emailing me to say "Thank you". It's always nice to get emails from listeners but this one hit me very hard, the reason he sent the email now is because he is dying from brain cancer and he's only 27, he's been fighting the good fight the past six years but this past year has not been good and he doesn't know how much longer he has. He wanted us (my co-host and I) to know how much he appreciated the podcast and how it always relaxed him and made him feel a lot better. He hopes he can fight long enough to hear our final episodes. When I read this I was in tears and blogging about it now brings me to tears... I have no words.

I have loved watching reactors on You Tube and listening to podcasts as they have brought me so much joy and entertainment over the years but I never really considered that people felt the same about me and my podcasts... until now.

I love creating podcasts, I've been doing it for over 14 years and plan to continue for as long as I can. To know that people look forward to new episodes, find them entertaining and find joy in them is amazingly wonderful and makes all the hard work and costs worth it.

My Toy Collection

I've been collecting movie and television memorabilia since I as six/seven years old and saw Star Wars on the big screen in 1977. I was so in love with that movie that my dad would buy me as many of the 3 3/4 Star Wars action figures as he could and I loved them all (and still have them). Over the years I went from playing with the action figures to collecting them and keeping them mint in package. When Playmates came out with their Star Trek action figures my collection and passion for collecting grew in leaps and bounds. I would spend entire days driving from Target, to KB Toys, to Toys R Us all through out southern California look for items. I always enjoyed my Toy Hunts.

In May of 2016 I wanted to share my collection with fans of action figures and TV/Movie memorabilia so I started an Instagram account and would post one item per day. I tried to give a bit of information about the item or the character per post. I've been doing now for four years and I just reached 200+ followers. It's been slow going but I've enjoyed very post. It's fun to look back at posts and it's a way of keeping track of my toy collection.

If you're interested in checking out my toy collection and following along click HERE. If you are a member of Instagram please give me a follow at KennysCollection. If you are not a member you can still enjoy my collection from a web browser. I'd really appreciate if you could give me a follow and help me grow my audience.

The Year That Was...

2020 has come to an end... and it has been a tough year for everyone, for me personally I turned 50 last year and was unable to have the huge cosplay 50th birthday party that I had been planning for several years, I also had planned to go to New Zealand as a birthday present to myself. I miss seeing my family and friends (yes we have Zoom) but it's not the same. I miss hanging out, eating out, shopping, going to the movies and amusement parks. But with all that said, I am still very fortunate and thankful because I have had steady work for the entirety of 2020 (which for my line of work is amazing). I was able to continue my job (Post Production Supervisor) from the safety of my home. Thank you Jay Leno's Garage S5, Monster Garage S1, Growing Belushi S1 and now back to Jay Leno's Garage S6.

And speaking of my home I moved into my amazing townhouse/apartment the week that the official quarantine took effect here in Los Angeles back in March. My new place is in a more rural area on a hillside surrounded by beautiful lush trees and greenery.

As for my health and fitness... my fitness journey continues, yes we lost Nerdstrong but the five years of working out there instilled a love of fitness that continued even in quarantine. I still work out five to six days a week and since I live in this beautiful rural area I took up walking a half hour to 45 minutes everyday. All of this along with changing my eating habits have lead to a leaner, more muscular and healthier me. My journey is far from over but I'm moving in the right direction.

So 2020 is behind us and we now start 2021, I know things won't go back to "normal" but with the new vaccine and new leader in the White House... Let's hope 2021 is the year for recovery.

I'm Back... Again!!!

First of all let me say that I'm back (yeah I know I've said that a few times these past five years), I haven't really blogged much since 2016. I've tried several times to get back into it but being a daily blogger it always felt overwhelming as I'd try to back blog months stuff and of course wasn't able to. There have been lots of highs and lows the past five years and I may go back and highlight a few of times but starting today I've decided to starting blogging on a more regular bases, it's won't be daily and I may not even post an entire week but I missing blogging. For me blogging was a way for me to get my thoughts down on paper (in a way), yes friends and family could keep up on my life, which is always great, but blogging was like a diary. As I get older my memory fails me more often then not and this blog reminds me of all the amazing (and some not so amazing) times I've had over the years. So starting today January 1st 2021 My Life As A Geek will resume. I want you all who take a moment of your busy lives to read about my geeky life. Just know I may not say it all the time but I appreciate each and everyone one of you.
