KOTG 2nd Anniversary Podcast

Today was all about my Knights of the Guild 2nd Anniversary Podcast. Been working on this the past few weeks but really started getting everything together the past few days and finished up early today. Since my house if a bit of a drive my friend Teal Sherer ofter us her place, which is much closer to the majority of the people. So I needed to pack up and move my entire recording system to her place. I wanted to make sure I had everything and even things that I might not sure but might need. I gathered and organized all the questions that listeners had for the cast members. I packed everything up in my jeep and headed down. I had to stop off at Vons and get food and drinks for the party, later we would order pizza/pasta as well. We were expecting over 25 people so I have to get quite a bit.
I manage to get to Teal at 4pm as planned and to my surprise Jenni (my co-host) got there at the same time. I didn't expect her until closer to our start time at 6pm. So Teal, Jenni and I unpacked my Jeep and began to set up the studio and food. Around five Ali (Teal's boyfriend) came home and just in time as we found out that Macs internal cams have a issue with Ustream so we weren't able to get the video feed to work. After several tries we finally got it working (Ali has windows on his Mac) and I brought my webcam from home and we got everything working around 6ish. A few people started to arrive and we began to broadcast but we held out starting the actual podcast until 6:30pm.

I didn't have any plans for this podcast... we were going to do a Q&A and just kind of chat with everyone. It was kind of like some controlled chaos.  Sandeep, Robin and Amy showed up so we started with their Q&A's and about 10 minutes in Jeff showed up with his new baby Harry and that was it for the interview. The next 20 minutes were devoted to little Harry (who is adorable). More cast members showed up and we grabbed cast, crew, and extras and did interviews with each. It was alot of fun. It ran a little over 4 hours and towards the end Audacity crashed and I wasn't able to save the past four hours recording. As of right now I'm not sure if it's gone or I'll be able to recover it. Luckily we have almost the entire thing (video and audio) recoded on ustream so I can always get the audio off that. But that's not the nice microphone/clear audio. But it's better then nothing.

One downside of being the producer/host of the podcast is that I'm not able enjoy the party or hang out with all my friends.... I didn't even get to eat any food. Oh well everyone seem to have a really good time and the listeners seemed to enjoy the four hour podcast.  I'll be posting more pictures and additional video from the evening. If you missed the live podcast you can watch the recording on our Ustream channel.

I'll keep everyone posted on my status of retrieving the audio.. I have until the 15th to get everyone in order and uploaded.

Update on my Geeky Life

Well it's February 1st and I figured I'd give everyone an update on the going on's of my life.

I've been sick going on three weeks now but I am doing better, the past few nights I have slept through the night (with the help of NyQuil) and I still have a slight cough and still very mucusie.

I stopped working out when I got sick to let my body rest plus I didn't feel well enough to do any working out. I hope to start back up next Monday.. I've only gained about 3 lbs over the three weeks from not working out.. which isn't bad.

My Knights of the Guild podcast is about to hit it's 2 year anniversary. Will be having a big 2 year anniversary podcast this coming Saturday with friends, cast members and crew of The Guild.. should be lots of fun.

About to launch my new MASH 4077 Podcast this week. We (Al, Meds and I) recorded four episodes this past weekend. I edited the first episode on Sunday and sent it out to the guys to preview.. they both liked it and with a few minor tweaks it will be up in itunes by weeks end.

I'm actually starting a third podcast called Epic Geek Out, this is taking a bit longer to get started but it's still moving forward. I hope to record a promo for it this weekend and discuss with my co-host Jen when we will record our first few episodes.

Now for work, things have been fairly quiet, well that was until this week. There was some personnel changes and things started to really pick up all of a sudden. MTV has a very complicated delivery schedule that I'm just now learning. I think once I have the system down it shouldn't be too bad but until then I'm a bit stressed out.

Family is doing well, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law and of course my little guy Kenobi (nephew) are doing great.. they've been sick off and on but nothing serious.

Friends have been great, I have been trying to see everyone more often and it's a real effort but my friends are so worth it. I hope to hang out with them even more often.

Harry and I are doing well, I have to say that the past few weeks things between us have been great. We make much better friends now then partners. He is still trying to work out his plans on departing the US.

I guess that's it for now.. busy, busy, busy.. but I wouldn't want it any other way.

A Healthier Me - Day 170

Well I"m still sick and it's preventing me from working out :( going on three weeks now. I am felling better so that's a good sign and I hope by weeks end I'll be back to my normal self and continue with my workouts.

Since it is Monday I weighted myself this morning, currently I'm 207

I'm actually down 1 pound from last Monday, which is great, but still 3 pounds higher then my lowest since I stopped working out. But it's a good scene that I'm eating better since I didn't gain weight this week and actually lost a pound.. so there is hope.

Editing Podcasts

Today I spent the entire day (on and off) editing my MASH 4077 Podcast This podcast was recorded differently then most of my others. Since the three hosts are all over the world we skype together and recorded our conversation. But if you use skype many of you know that the quality can be a hit and miss so each person recorded their own conversation and then emailed me they mp3. I then went into Avid and took all of our mp3 and strung them out together and found a sync point to link they all together. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, after that I did an edit pass removing bad audio, conversations, flubs, stuff like that. Then I went through and added sound bites from the episode.  Still have to do one final "sweeten" pass to make sure it sounds great but I wanted to send a copy of it to my fellow co-hosts to see what they think. So the very first MASH 4077 podcast Ep,. #1 is about 90% done. Just waiting on notes from my buddies and then I'll do the final pass and get this up in itunes for all to listen.... can't wait.. really excited about his one.. I think the first episode turned out pretty good.
