After our hike at Vasquez and watching a bit of TV Thomas and I headed out to Arclight of Sherman Oaks to see Chronicle. I had heard good things about this and all my friends really enjoyed it so I went in to it expecting to like it. And guess what... I did. First of all the way it was shot, in first person with personal cameras, cell phones, security cameras was just brilliant. I liked how the footage got sharper with the improvement of each camera the guy got. It's a nice slow progression of the story but it never felt like it dragged and the final 20 minutes were just incredible. It's just an overall well executed movie. I think it would make a great origin story for a new super hero. Both Thomas and I really enjoyed it.
After the movie we went to a local Denny's for a late dinner... then headed home to watch tonight's Once Upon A Time. I love that show but it's always so much more enjoyable when you watch it with a friend. Headed to bed after because we had to get up early for our trip to Disneyland.

Hanging with the Irishman
My buddy Thomas from Ireland came over late last night to stay with me for a few day. He has a martial arts competition in Las Vegas this week and extended his vacation a few days so we could hang out... how awesome is he. We woke up this morning and had some breakfast before doing a 2 1/2 hour hike at Vasquez Rocks. Went to the highest peak at Vasquez.. made a short video.
After the hike we went out to lunch at Islands then came back home and watched Touch and the first 3 episodes of season two of the IT Crowd. Now heading out to see Chronicle at the Arclight Sherman Oaks.. I'll blog about the movie later.

Touch
Just watched the pilot of this new Fox tv series called Touch for a second time, didn't blog about it the first time so I thought I would give my thoughts on this new series.
The pilot previewed on January 25th and the series will began on March 19th.
Kiefer Sutherland portrays Martin Bohm, a single father with an 11-year-old son who has an obsession with numbers and the ability to see interconnections within the universe, sometimes even predicting the future.
The creator is Tim Kring who also created Heroes and this pilot had that same feeling. I don't know how to explain it but this pilot just lifts your spirits, makes your heart smile. I love the idea that everyone on this planet is connected, that certain people are suppose to meet, that actions by one person can change the live of people thousands of miles away. It makes this world feel very small. That everyone is important to someone else. The last act of this pilot had me in tears the entire time. It was beyond moving, you spend the entire pilot seeing snips of different people's live and then at the end you find out that they are all connected, everything that happened was meant to be.. it's just crazy cool.
Can't wait for this series to start. You can watch the Pilot online HERE

Comic Book Men Ep 1 Review
Comic Book Men is a new reality series focused on a New
Jersey-based comic book shop, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, which
is owned by Kevin Smith. Smith appears in the
series via narrative interstitial of a sort, wherein he and the shop's
employees gather to record a podcast, but the show focuses on the shop's
three employees and a non-employee who's perpetually hanging out at the
store. It premiered Sunday on AMC and will be running for six episodes.
I finally sat down and watched the first episode and I have to say that overall I really enjoyed this series. I found it funny and entertaining. There were a few times where I felt as if they were "being" mean to people, and honestly that would be my only complaint. Now I know they are all "geeks" in their own right but does that give them the right to be mean to other "geeks", I don't think it does but that might just be me.
This episode has three storyline going. One was Kevin and the employees doing a video podcast, which I mentioned. They talk about various geek topics or stuff that would happen in the store.. then the second storyline had people come into the store and try and sell things to them. This is where I think they were cruel to a few of those customers (of course they didn't do in front of them but when they would leave). The final storyline was two of the employees and the guy who just hangs around have a competition to sell the most stuff at a flea market. Again lots of making fun of flea market "type" people. But it had it's funny moments. Some heartbreaking moments was then one of the guys had some Star Trek collector plates, which I collect and he was selling for $10 (crazy good deal), but when the none employee guy went over and smashed two of the plates on the ground (trying to be funny) I was not laughing. It was hard to watch someone who didn't care about these things just smash something that I put a lot of love and value into.. and he did it just to be an ass.
Other then a few faults as I mentioned I did enjoy this first episode and I'll be back to watch the second one this Sunday.

A Healthier Me - Day 25
Well after a five day hiatus due to illness I'm working out again and man does it feel great. I'm still not 100% better but I'm not sick enough to use it as an excuse to not work out .
I ampted up my workout, I'm now doing 15 reps for each set, instead of 10 and that's a huge difference.
Today's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 15 on the curl arm for my biceps (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the back leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 15 on the free weight (110 lbs)
My arms are killing me but it was one of my better workouts. I'm losing weight because of me being sick but I need to keep the weight off so I need to work out ever harder. I've almost reach my March goal of getting below 200 pounds. Still got 14 days to go and if I keep up with the way things are going I should reach it with no problem.

Today we cover Season 2, Episode #2 - 5 O'Clock Charlie
26th Episode Overall
Directed by Norman Tokar
Written by Larry Gelbart, Keith Walker & Laurence Marks
Production code K403
Original air date September 22, 1973
Set during the Korean War in the 1950’s
Plot Summary: For six weeks, an ammunition depot near the camp has been the target of a punctual but inept North Korean bomber pilot. Every day at 5:00 he flies overhead and attempts to hit the depot with a single hand-thrown bomb. The pilot, nicknamed "5 O'Clock Charlie," has been so reliably unsuccessful that the denizens of the 4077th have begun a betting pool based on how far away from the target his bomb will land. Only Frank and Margaret regard "Charlie" as a serious threat. Frank requests an anti-aircraft gun, and Brigadier General Crandall Clayton comes to the camp to assess the situation. Clayton, who has placed the ammo dump near the hospital so that the enemy will leave it alone (a tactic he says he learned from the Germans), is initially skeptical of the need for a gun; on the next raid, though, Charlie destroys not the ammo dump but Gen. Clayton's jeep. He agrees to send the gun, and Frank takes charge of it.
Hawkeye and Trapper argue that the presence of the anti-aircraft gun will attract more competent bombers, noting that "fire draws fire," but Frank is more interested in drilling his "platoon" of three Korean soldiers. Eventually, Hawkeye, Trapper and Cardozo conclude that the problem is not the gun, but the ammo dump. They dye sheets and place them on the ammo dump to help Charlie find his target. When Charlie makes his next pass, Hawkeye and Trapper confuse Frank's men into aiming the gun directly at the ammo dump. Charlie misses his target yet again, but when Frank orders his troops to fire the gun, they hit the ammo dump, destroying it
Hope you enjoy it,

Valentines Day
Well this is the first Valentines Day in eight years that I don't have a Valentine. But it's not a big deal because when I did have a Valentine we didn't do much for this day to begin with. I find it crazy that we pick one day out of the year to show our love for our partner in life. To me everyday should be Valentines. Everyday you should show your love for your significant other.
And I can say without a doubt at this moment in time I have never been loved by more people in my entire life. I have some of the greatest friends that I think I will ever have and some best friends who will be my best friends the rest of my life. I may not see them as much as I would like to, but I think of them everyday, they are always in my heart and they can keep a smile on my face when times are tough with just a single memory. You all know who you are and just know that you have made my life so much richer with your love and friendship. I'm the luckiest guy on the planet.

A Healthier Me - Day 22
Well I've been sick and didn't work out on Thursday, Friday or today because of it. But it is Monday and I like to weight myself in every Monday.
Today I weighted in at 204.5
That's 3.5 pounds lighter.. even though I haven't worked out in a few days I have lost the most amount of weight so far... guess being sick works out well. I have found myself eating a light breakfast, good lunch and a light dinner with very little snacking between.
I hate being sick but I guess there is an upside to feeling like crap!!
Gonna try and get back out there to work out.. I actually miss it.

My New Podcast Logo
I put out a call on twitter and facebook asking my very talented artist friends for some help on my Geekyfanboy Production Logo as well as my Alien Nation The Newcomers Podcast Logo.
My buddy Ken Todd who drew this AWESOME picture of me for my 40th birthday responded and said he would give it a shot. Now I know Ken can do great work as he did the drawing of me and also produced a very cool logo that I'm using as well for my Confessions of a Fanboy podcast. But what I didn't know is how FANTASTIC it would actually turn out. All I said to Ken was I wanted my brother and I with "alien" spotted heads and in front of mics. He took that idea and ran with it. He
even added his own touch by writing in Tenctonese below The Newcomers Podcast "With Kenny & Michael" Something that only true Alien Nation fans would get.
I was truly blown away by this and so was my brother.. so much so that Michael is using this photo as his facebook photo... we both just love it.
And as soon as I figure out what kind of logo I want for my Geekyfanboy Productions he's going to take a crack at that and I'm sure that's going to be incredible as well.
Thanks Ken for doing this for me, you truly are a very talented artist.

Disneyland with Guildies
My weekend of fun continues with a visit to Disneyland. If you read my previous post you know Chris, Anthony, Jes, Brian and I rented a hotel room across the street from Disneyland. We got up, had some breakfast and headed over to Disneyland. Got there around 8:30am and picked up Jes' ticket. Aaron, Rupert, Jen and Kim joined us and we made our way into the park. This was Jes' first time at Disneyland so we stopped by guest service to get a 1st Time button for her.
Our first stop was Star Tours to get a fast pass, we then stopped by the magic castle to get a group picture. After that we went to Adventure Land to ride Indiana Jones ride. We then made our way to Splash Mountain. Now I wasn't thrilled about this as I didn't want to get wet. We got in line and Robert joined us. This was the first time I
got to meet Robert, we chat on facebook and twitter, and I may have seen him on set of The Guild but we never chatted. Got on the ride and got totally wet, well we all did but I have to say it was fun riding this with all my friends and all of us getting wet. After Splash Mountain we headed over to The Haunted Mansion and pretty much just walked on to that ride. It was a first for many of the folks in my group. After that it was Big Thunder Mountain. I enjoy this roller coaster
and had a great time trying to take pictures while on the ride. After Big Thunder we headed back to Star Tours to use our fast pass. Of course all of us being big geeks and Star Wars fans this was one ride everyone was looking forward to. We all had passes except Robert because he joined our party late
but it just so happen that Aaron found a valid fast pass so Robert was able to join us... yay. Before we got on the ride we got another fast pass for a later time. We then rode Star Tours and had an fantastic time. The ride is great but again it's the people who are on the ride with you that can make it fantastic or just okay.. we had a fantastic energetic group.Once we got off Star Tours Robert's friends had arrived so we parted ways. Kim also had to get going for some family time. So the rest of us went to grab some lunch. Half of us wanted Corn Dogs from the Little Red Wagon and the other half wanted gumbo. So we went our separate ways and met back up in the dining area. While we were walking to get corn dogs Chris made the comment about getting two corn dogs and somehow we got on the topic of putting both corn dogs into his mouth. Since we are both fans of How I Meet
Your Mother he mentioned a "slap" bet. That's were the winner of the bet get's to slap the loser across the face. So I made Chris a slap bet that he could not put both corn dogs into his mouth at the same time. So when we had our dogs and were sitting down Chris attempted to put both corn dogs into his mouth.. well all I have to say is Chris has a big mouth and managed to get both of them in there. So I lost the slap bet and now have to wait until that moment when Chris decided to slap me.
After lunch Chris, Anthony, Jes, Jen, Aaron, Rupert, Brian and I headed over to Fantasy land and Toon Town before taking the train back to main street and headed over to Disney's California Adventures but first we meet up with Jerry and Gina making our party 10. We were making our way to Tower of Terror when "beer" caught the eye of several folks who will remain nameless. When said person heard that California Adventure served beer they couldn't wait to get over there. After grabbing some beer and soda we got in line for Tower of Terror. I made the mistake of telling Anthony that have been working on not getting embarrassed by others so of course he grabs me and yells to everyone around that "Kenny gets embarrassed" over and over. Of course everyone looks over at us and I'm wrestling to escape from his embrace. It was good times. We finished Tower of Terror (one of my favorite over in this park) and then made our way to Monsters Inc but the wait for it was crazy and though I like the ride didn't think it was worth it.. so instead we did Muppet Vision 3D. After Muppet's we headed over to Screaming but the line was long so we got a fast pass and decided to get in line for Toy Story Mania. We waited for over an hour in that line but luckily everyone seemed to really enjoy the ride. While we were in line we noticed that we were one person down. Aaron had slipped away and no knew where he was. Come to find out that he went to get a drink and couldn't find his way back to us and since his phone was dead he couldn't call. So he went back to his car to charge his phone.
After Mania we meet back up with Aaron and rode Screaming, everyone really enjoyed that one. After Screaming we did Soarin over California. Jes really enjoyed that one and I hadn't ridden it in a while so that was fun. By this time it was dark and ElecTRONica was going so we headed over and went to Flynn's Arcade. Everyone LOVED Flynn's, we played old school video games, got some drinks and just hung out and rested for a bit. We meet up with Jessica and her two nieces.
We headed back to Disneyland to Star Tour for a second time with our fast passes. Since Jessica and her 2 nieces didn't have passes they went on to something else. We did have one extra pass (Kim got one and had to leave before using it) so we offered it to Jerry or Gina and Gina was kind enough to let Jerry use it. So we got on Star Tours and I asked for the front and all but three of use were in the front row (which is always a blast). This was a special ride because Brian from our group was chosen to be the Rebel Spy.
Aaron left after Star Tours and we met back up with the others. We then headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean and attempted to get on that ride for the second time but once again it was closed so instead we did Indiana
Jones
for a second time. Jessica had these fast passes that you could use up
to 6 people with each pass. We had 12.. but then Luis joined in on the
fun. So Brian rested while 12 of us went on Indiana Jones. After Indy Jerry and Gina left.
We then went over to Michael Jackson's Captain EO Tribute show. I love this show, I mean it's cheesy and the effect aren't the best (well they were when this first premiered over 15 years ago) but I still love it. Some of the folks had never seen this but seemed to be less thrill when it was over.
After Captain EO we made our way to Space Mountain for a second time. Again with the help of Jessica's fast pass we got on in no time and this time Luis and I rode in the very front and experience the ride in a whole different way.
We thought Space Mountain would be our last ride but as we were walking by Star Tour we noticed that the line was only 20 minutes so we got in and rode it for a third time.At this time it was around 11:30pm, park closed at midnight but we all called it a night. We said our goodbyes to everyone and Jes, Anthony and I headed back to my jeep. Chris was taking Jen home and then going to my place to crash for the night.
And for those wondering about the slap bet, Chris never slapped me but loved the fact that he tortured me all day with the threat of a slap.. good times.
I dropped off Anthony around 1am and got to the freeway when he texted me that he had left his phone in my car so we had to turn around and go back. We finally made it home around 2am. Chris was already passed out. And Jes and I soon followed.
It was a FANTASTIC trip to Disneyland. I love Disneyland but it's the people you go with that make it special and this group of friends that went were as special as they get. Thanks to Chris, Jes, Anthony, Jen, Rupert, Luis, Aaron, Brian, Robert, Kim, Jerry, Gina and Jessica for making this a very memorable Disneyland trip.

Star Wars Day
Even though I'm still sick I wasn't going to let it get the best of me this weekend. My buddy Chris and I talked about seeing Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace in 3D. We had first talked a few weeks ago about us meeting in Santa Barbara, kind of of middle ground for both of us. But last week when I was visiting him he mentioned seeing a Star Wars Exhibition down in Santa Ana. So kind of last minute he decided that he would come down here for
the weekend and we would go to the Star Wars Exhibition and then go see Star Wars Ep1 in 3D. I suggested that he try and take Monday off so we could go to Disneyland on Sunday as well since he still had a pass and will be leaving CA in April. So the fun filled weekend was born at the last minute. We opened up the Star Wars day to close friends, ones whom we knew were big Star Wars fans. And Sunday Disneyland we opened up to everyone.
My friend Jes who lives up in the San Francisco area manged to work some magic and get the time off to come down and join us. She actually arrived at my place last night. So we got up in the morning had some breakfast. I had to do my taxes today at 11am but first my buddy Anthony texted me last night to see if I would be able to swing by and pick him up as well. Of course both he and Jes would have to go with me to my tax guy, but both were cool with that. As I was getting my taxes done those two walked to Starbuck for some coffee. About a half hour later I was done with my taxes (getting best refund yet) and we headed down to The Discovery Science Center where they were holding the Star Wars Exhibition.
Anthony, Jes and I were the first to arrive and the place was packed so we had to park in the mall across the street. Shortly after we arrived Chris arrived. The four of us went into the mall to grab some lunch. While there Jen arrived and joined for lunch. After lunch we got a message from Anne and Nicki that they were at the Science center so we headed over to meet up. When we got there we saw the large building that contained the Millennium Falcon experience (a 4 and a half minute ride in the cockpit of the Falcon), though we were there around 2pm the experience had already sold out.. which put a dampener on the beginning of this awesome weekend.
So Chris, Jes, Anthony, Anne, Nicki and I entered the Science center and went directly to the Star Wars Exhibition since our tickets were for 2pm. Part of the section had replicas, models and costumes and the other sections had interactive games, simulators, robot building and other hands on things. While there Rupert joined us. We walked around the place looking at all the cool Star Wars stuff. We first started off as a group but some would take more time to look at things then others so eventually I was by myself
taking pictures and checking out all the AWESOME things. I did several pass as I took pictures the first time, then figured out a better setting on my camera so I started over again and took more pictures then realized that I really didn't look at anything with my own eyes so I went back for a third time and looked at everything and finally did one finale pass with my flip cam. Chris joined me for a bit, but eventually it was just Rupert and I in there while everyone else went to check out the rest of the Science center.

After the Exhibition we all headed back to the mall to re-group and figure out where we were going to go to watch Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. We decided to go to The Block at Orange. We had planned to go to Dave and Busters to play some games before hand but when we got to The Block we had about an hour before the movie started so we opted to go get tickets and get in line. We saw the movie at an AMC and it was kind of bizarre as they didn't hand out 3D glasses, you had to go up to guest service and get them (though they didn't tell you this when you bought the ticket). Anyways there were folks dressed up at the theater (as expected). Besides Chris, Anthony, Jes, Jen, Anne, Nicki, Rupert and myself we were joined by Kim and Brian. Anthony already saw the movie so he opted to go see Chronicle with his friend Rachel.
As for my option of the movie. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan.. have been since I was 7 and seeing the original Star Wars in a drive in theater 16 times. I enjoyed The Phantom Menace, I'm not one of the many haters. Of course there are parts that I'm not a fan of but the great parts out weight the bad. But with the 3D aspect I have to honest and say I really didn't see a different. There were a few shots that were cool and you could see the 3D aspect of it but for the most part I was just excited to see this movie on the big screen again.
After the movie we met up with Anthony and Rachel and went to grab some dinner at Alcatraz. I wasn't that hungry because I ate so much crap during the movie (and got flack for it.. thanks Chris :) ). But Nicki and I shared some wings and fries.
Once dinner was over some of us who were not local (Brian, Chris, Jes, Anthony and I) headed over to the Disneyland area to get a hotel close to Disneyland so we could just get up and go tomorrow morning.
All in all it was a fantastic Star Wars filled day.. and it's only the beginning of the weekend.
the weekend and we would go to the Star Wars Exhibition and then go see Star Wars Ep1 in 3D.

Getting Sick
Well the past few days I've had a sore throat but this morning it wasn't so bad I figured it passed. I started editing the my MASH 4077 Podcast and about halfway through the day I started to get this cough. Then my ears started to hurt and finally I started to get light headed just sitting at my computer working on my podcast... I'm getting sick :( It sucks because I have some fun plans this weekend that I can't change so I'll be doing them regardless of how I feel. Would be great if I felt great so I'm hoping this is a quick thing. I'm taking vitamins C and other meds hoping to knock this bug out of me quickly.
So I opted not to work out, which really is killing me. But I can't stand for more then five minutes without getting dizzy. So I think working out would be a bad idea. Was planning on visiting family tomorrow but instead I think I'm going to stay in bed and get as much rest as possible (of course this will depend on how I feel when I wake up). I still need to finish my MASH podcast so I may attempt to do that tomorrow as well, only have a few more hours of work on it before it's done.
I just want to feel okay for the weekend.. is that to much to ask for.

Errands & More TV
Today I really should have been editing several podcasts (Knights of the Guild, Confessions of a Fanboy, and MASH 4077 Podcast) but nope that didn't happen. I did manage to get outside as it was a beautiful day. I went and purchased 2 new tires. 3 of my tires were okay so I moved two good ones to the 2 back tires and purchased 2 new tires for the front tires. And the third good tire I'm using as my spare. Let's hope these four tires last a little while. Jeep tires are expensive, I spent about $350 on the two tires, alignment and labor. After that I went to Stater Brothers to pick up some food. I haven't gone in a few weeks and it was time as I was running out of basic stuff. I then grabbed some lunch from El Pollo Loco before gassing up the Jeep and heading home.
Like yesterday I watched more of my DVR'd tv shows. Today I watched this weeks New Girl and Raising Hope. Really enjoy Raising Hope but New Girl is my new favorite comedy. Today's episode was hilarious. Nick's facial expressions when the landlord is explaining what he's going to do during their menage a trois was just epic!!!
Then watched a new series My 600 lbs Life, it's a series that follows one person over seven years after they get a gastric bypass. I find these shows extremely interesting. After that I watched my favorite reality show FaceOff. Again the stuff these artists come up with are amazing. I think that's why each episode is so interesting. I mean it's pretty much the same thing each episode but it's always cool to see what these guys will come up with. Also got some good news that Syfy picked up FaceOff for a third season.

It's TV Time
Today I pretty much watched hours and hours of DVR'd TV. Started with a few DIY shows, Bath Crashers, Room Crashers, and House Crashers. Biggest Loser was next, I stopped watched a few seasons back but decided to pick it back up.. but it really is a take it or leave show for me. Then moved on to the Michael Jackson themed Glee episode which I thought was pretty good. I only fast forward through a few parts. I watched an episode of Anderson talk show, I think Anderson is just dreamy :) I then watched the latest episode of Raising Hope.. loved it and re-watched the latest New Girl (another show I loved). Watched the latest Clone Wars, 3rd part of a four part story. Really enjoyed this one, probably my favorite part of the story so far.
Watched that last two Being Human, I'm liking Josh (werewolf) and Sally (ghost) storyline but really not enjoying the Aidan (vampire) storyline. But the previews for next week I'm not sure I'll be liking the Sally story much longer. Still a great show and I look forward to seeing where these characters go.
And finally I watched the last two episode of Lost Girl and this is quickly becoming my new favorite show besides Once Upon A Time. I love the writing and the interaction between the characters. Bo and Kenzi are just too perfect together. I can see why everyone loves Kenzi as she's one of the best characters on the show. And man is this show steamy. I wonder since it's a Canadian show if Syfy cuts out things for the US version. I mean they say shit and show some side boob but I wonder if anything is being cut out.. I'll need to look into that. Can't wait for next week.

A Healthier Me - Day 15
Since it's Monday I weight myself this morning 208
That's a half a pound more then last Monday, I actually happy with that as my diet last week and this past weekend was horrible.
Today's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 10 on the curl arm for my biceps (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the back leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the free weight (110 lbs)
Have a sore throat and really did feel like working out but no excuses. I got out there and did a really good workout. Just wish my eating was going as well as the working out. I can workout like crazy but if I can't get my eating down it's all for not as I won't lose weight and that really is the most important thing to me right now. Oh well two weeks into my new workout and things are professing slowly. Just can't this slow progression discourage me in any way. I know in time I'll start to see and fill the difference.. just gotta be patient and diligent.

Lunch with Teal
Today I got to hang out with Teal. I first went over to her place to meet her new baby Bre. Sweetest puppy in the world. After that Teal and I walked over to a local restaurant to have lunch. This place has the best Chicken meatballs I have ever had. It's a must have whenever go.
It was great catching up with her. It's been a few months since we were able to just sit and chat. Lots going on with her personal and professional life. We chatted about her new webseries My Gimpy Life, I offered my BTS and podcasting services to help promote this new comedy. We talked Guild stuff, movies, comics and other geeky things. We just enjoyed ones company.. hope we can do it more often.

Road Trip - Sunday
So I didn't sleep to well the night before. I'm a very light sleeper and I forgot my earplugs. I did get a few hours.. but finally got out of bed around 7:30am and took a shower. When I got out Aaron was up and took a shower next then Rupert and finally Anthony. Chris came back over around 9am.
We headed out to one of Chris' favorite breakfast place called American Host. We had a great breakfast and then headed out to Nijoqui Falls Park to check out a waterfall. We found this really cool tree that kind of grew over the path so we all had to jump on it. The hike to the
fall is fairly short, about a mile. Got there in no time to see the fall, which had very little water. Though there was little water it was still a cool fall.
After the park we headed back to Chris' place to drop him off :( before starting our trek back home. After saying goodbye we jumped on the freeway and headed to Santa Barbara (about an hour drive). Once there we parked and walked down State St and checked out all the cool antique shops. We also grabbed some lunch at Chipotle (which was the first time I had eaten there). We then continued down State Street
which ends at the Santa Barbara pier. We made our way to the end of the pier before turning around and making our way back to the car. Anthony had a run in with a crappy coffee place... but other then that the walk back was fairly uneventful.
W still had a two hour drive so we played around round of 20 Questions and again we gave it a twist with a Fantasy themed. And like before 2 hours flew by and we were back at my place. Said my goodbyes to Rupert and Aaron who both had a while before they would be home. Anthony, who rides a motorcycle didn't want to ride home because it was late and freezing so I offered to take him and his motorcycle home in Harry's truck. It was a mini adventure to get his motorcycle into the back of the truck but we manged and got him and his motorcycle home in one piece. I finally got home around 8:30pm thus ending the Weekend Road Trip to visit Chris.
All in all the trip was a success. It was fun, entertaining, crazy at times, adventurous and best of all spent with some of the best guys on the planet. Thanks Chris, Anthony, Rupert and Arron

Road Trip - Saturday
So Anthony, Aaron, Rupert and I got up around 7:30am and started to get ready for our weekend road trip. I didn't plan out a breakfast (fail on my part) so everyone fended for themselves. After breakfast Anthony asked if I had a needle and thread as his jeans were "fashionably" holey. But his back pocket has to many holes and he couldn't put his wallet in there.. long story short I sewed the holes on his pocket for him.. oh and he was still wearing them while I did this. Any excuse to touch Anthony's butt is a plus in my book :)
We loaded up the SUV (Aaron was kind enough to offer is vehicle and also paid for the gas). We started the road trip. We didn't plan to stop anywhere on the way up as we wanted to spend as much time as we could with Chris. On the way up we played 20 questions but we put a fun twist and made it a Scifi Edition. Three hours later we were in Lompoc.
We met up with Chris and he took us to one of his favorite burger joints for lunch. This place had an A - Z burger. All were very crazy variations of a burger. Though some of my travel buddies were adventurous I went with an A burger which is just a simple hamburger.
After lunch Chris took us to Vandenberg Air Force Base (Chris is in the military). He showed us around, I can't get more specific but it was some very cool places that very few non-military people see. It was very impressive. Vandenberg is on the coast and has miles and miles of coastline so we drove up the coast and stopped to admire the view a few times.
One of those time when I was getting back in Chris' van I went back to grab my seat belt at the exact some time Aaron was closing the side door and crunch... 3 fingers on my right hand were caught between the door and the door jam. As I screamed open the door, open the door, Aaron quickly (though it felt like minutes) opened the door and I examined my 3 crushed fingers. They were killing me but seemed not to be broken. Lucky for me there was alot of padding in between the door jams so that prevented me from actually crushing my fingers and braking the bones. They were bruised and sore but other then that they were okay.
Our next stop was at an actual beach, it was beautiful and since it was on the base there were very little people there. After the beach Chris took us to his actually work place, he's involved with nuclear weapons. Showed us his desk and where he worked. He also showed us a video about nuclear weapons and I learned so much... it was a fun and informative trip.
After the base we headed to Solvang, which is the Danish capital of United States. We walked around this quaint town, checking out all the cool shops. We then headed over to The Red Viking for some dinner. I got some Danish sausage and meatballs while others went with traditional Danish meals and some with typical stuff. They had some excellent food and the waitress (Alex) was awesome. Made the dinner experience even more fun. She actually invited us out to a "club/bar" later in the day but that was hours away and we didn't have time to hang out.
After Solvang we headed back to Vandenberg Air Force base to go bowling. Since it was Saturday it was packed with kids so we put our name down on the waiting list and decided to play some Flux while we waited. After an hour of waiting it didn't look like we were going to get a lane before they closed at 10pm. So we opted to just get a hotel room and play some Apples to Apples.
Around 11pm Chris headed back to his place (only a few blocks from the hotel) and Aaron and Rupert took one of the Queen beds while Anthony and I took the other queen bed and tried to get some sleep.
All in all it was a fantastic day.. got to see some very cool things, ate some great food but more important go to hang out with some AWESOME friends.

A Healthier Me - Day 12
Got up this morning and made myself go out and workout. I have company coming over later today so this was going to be the only time I would be able to workout.
Today's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 10 on the chest fly for my chest (75 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the curl arm for my biceps (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
It was a rough start to the workout.. I really didn't want to go but once I started I got into a rhythm and all was well.

3 sets of 10 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
It was a rough start to the workout.. I really didn't want to go but once I started I got into a rhythm and all was well.

A Healthier Me - Day 11
I wasn't about to workout during the day as planned and in turn it effected my workout.
Today's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the back leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the free weight (110 lbs)
I struggled with the cardio.. about 10 minutes in I was going to stop at 15 but then a good song came on the ipod and next thing I knew it was 16 minutes and I will only stop in increments of 5 so I would go to 20 but then at 20 I figured it was only 10 more minutes to 30 so I continued and got my full cardio in. This is my light weights day so that wasn't an issue. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get my early workout in.

England on Hold
I was beyond excited that I was finally going to travel to England and Ireland, it's been a dream of mine for such a long time and this May was it. I was going to do it no matter what. I didn't care that I haven't had a job in four months. I didn't care that my savings is almost gone. I kept telling myself I was going to go no matter what.
Damn me for being such a responsible person...
I have thought long and hard about the decision to postpone my trip and I feel at this time that it's the right one. I know that I should not spend thousands of dollars that I don't really have on a trip right now. I mean I do have a mortgage and no job. Finding a job should be my priority.
Does it suck.. oh yeah big time and it's killing me to have to put it off once again but I am going to get to England/Ireland and in fact get to all of Europe in the near future. That's my goal and once I get a job and save some money back up I'm booking my flight.. there's no stopping me.

A Healthier Me - Day 10
Well didn't quite workout in the morning as planned but I did manage to get out there at around 12:30pm.
40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 10 on the chest fly for my chest (75 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the curl arm for my biceps (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 for shoulders (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
Really happy I got my workout done earlier in the day. I seem to have more energy, hence why I went a bit longer on my cardio. Everything else felt great. Gonna try and keep the workout in the morning/afternoon.

A Healthier Me - Day 9
Well I dragged my tired butt out to the garage to do my workout.. Thanks to several of you who gave me encouragement via text, facebook and my blog.. I really appreciate it.
Today's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical
3 sets of 10 on the front leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the back leg press (45 lbs)
3 sets of 10 on the free weight (110 lbs)
Once I got out there the workout was fine, I even woke up a bit and feel pretty good at the moment. I know I'll crash in an hour and hopefully get a good night sleep. I think I'm going to try and workout in the morning/afternoon so I don't run into this problem of being too tried to workout again.

Insomnia and Podcasts
I had the worst time sleeping this last night/morning. I don't know if it was because I worked out later then I normally do (10pm) but I tossed and turned all night and into the morning. I think I slept a total of a few hours before I finally couldn't take it anymore and got up at 9am.
Since I didn't sleep well I kind of had a sluggish day. I listen to some podcasts and finally finished editing my next Alien Nation podcast, which makes me happy.. but looking back at the day I'm not sure really what I did. I didn't watch much TV and the editing only took about four hours.. but for the life of me I can't figure out what I did today.
Debating on working out tonight. Half of me says I should force myself to go out there but another part of me who is exhausted and can barely keep his eyes open is saying go to bed, but then the other part keeps saying it's only 8pm.. too early for bed. I love these internal debates and at this time as I'm writing this blog I really don't know what I'm going to do... all I know is if and when I go to sleep, I hope I can sleep throughout the night.

A Healthier Me - Day 8
Today was an extremely lazy day. I didn't do much other then watch some TV. Watched the latest Once Upon a Time and totally loved it. It was the back story for Sydney (aka Man in mirror). Got some more story from the fantasy world and the present world things are moving along nicely. It's only been 11 episodes but I feel like we've gotten so much yet have learned so little. Can't wait to see where this season goes.
I did get out today and go to the Post Office and grab some lunch. I'm trying to get out more often and not stay in this house day in and day out.
I pretty much was on the computer all day not doing much. At 10pm I realized that I hadn't workout today.. so I mustered up the strength and went outside and did my work out.
Since it's Monday I weight myself this morning 207.5
That's a pound and half less then last Monday so I'm moving in the right direction.

It was a tougher workout then usual because I was so lazy today it was hard for me to get motivate to get out there especially since 10pm is the time I watch the news and start to wind down.. but I did it and got through it.

Disneyland Sunday
Got up early to head out to Disneyland. I normally don't go on weekends because it's always so busy. But my friend Sue is visiting from New York and will be there today. Sue and I meet in a sci fi forum called Treks in Sci Fi years ago. We've chatted via twitter but never met in person. Our paths almost crossed when I went on my trip to Florida as her trip to Florida was just ending and she was at the airport an hour before my plane arrived. Anyways I was really looking forward to meeting her face to face. There was a bit of traffic so I got to Disneyland around 10:30am and as expected it was packed. By the time I parked the car, got on the tram and through security it was 11am.
After a few texts I met up with Sue over by the Castle. I had never seen what Sue looked like, so before I left I quickly looked up a picture of her just so I had a general idea. We quickly found each other and as with other online friends that I have met in person.. it's like there is an instant bond there. It's as though you've been friends for years (which we have). She was joined by three of her other friends Amy, Lisa and Kate. We said our hellos and then started walking around Disneyland. Since I live here and visit Disneyland often I didn't have any plans other then to hang out with Sue and her friends.
After an hour they were going to head over to California Adventure since they pretty much did Disneyland yesterday and I was hungry so we parted ways as they headed over to the other park I went over to the Little Red Wagon for a delicious corn dog and apple slices. When I finished up, my buddy Anthony texted me that he was on the tram heading in. He and my friend Andrew both said they would join me at Disneyland, Andrew pulled out yesterday but Anthony was on his way so I finished up and then headed to the front to greet my friend.
Anthony arrived and we hugged our hellos we made our way to California Adventures. I texted the girls to see where they were at and could really figure it out when suddenly we ran into them. They were all heading to lunch and Anthony was hungry as well so we joined them. We spent the next five hours walking around the park doing rides and such. It was the four girls and us 2 boys so Anthony and I had a lot of male bonding time... which is always nice. I mean the weekend I nursed Anthony back to health after his motorcycle accident I learned alot about him, but he's a man of many stories and I haven't quite heard them all.
We finally parted ways with the ladies as they were doing World of Color and Anthony's friend Rachel was joining us for some fun. We said our goodbyes and met up with Rachel. We grabbed a bite to eat before heading back to Disneyland to ride Star Tours and then Indiana Jones before saying goodbye to Rachel as both Anthony and I had were going to our friend Leslie's birthday party which happened to be at The House of Blues at Downtown Disney.
So we headed over there and didn't see anyone, we waited out front and our friends Rupert, Luis and the Rusley Twins, Kevin and Doug showed up. We decided to kill some time and walk over to the Lego store. Well someone, can't remember who, got the idea to make a Leslie Lego figure so we spent the next half hour trying to assemble one.
Party was suppose to start at 9pm.. but the birthday girl was running late. She finally showed up around 10pm which is when we happen to finally leave the Lego store. We said our Happy Birthdays.. presented her with the Legos which she really liked. We had cake and chatted for a bit. Around 11pm I was spent and said my goodbyes and headed home. Got home a little after midnight, watched some Simpson's before falling asleep around 1am
Thanks to Sue, Amy, Lisa, Kate, Rachel, Leslie, Rupert, Luis, Kevin, Doug and especially Anthony for making today a pretty crazy but super fun day.
