While I was out showing my buddy Matt around town lots of amazing geeky TV and movie news was announced. Here are some of the highlights and my favorites.
First Marvel announced the cast for the third installment of the Captain America movie franchise. The next movie which is titled Captain America: Civil War will have a much larger cast then the previous movie and even more "superheroes" then Avengers: Age of Ultron. Here's who is going to be appearing in the movie.
Reprising their roles from the previous installments in the franchise, Chris Evans will be returning as Steve Rogers' Captain America; Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark's Iron Man; Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow; Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier;" Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson's Falcon, Jeremy Renner as crowbow-toting Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Paul Bettany will be revisiting his character, The Vision, Don Cheadle's James "Rhodey" Rhodes appearing as War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.
Paul Rudd's Scott Lang from "Ant-Man," will make his first appearance alongside the rest of the Avengers, and William Hurt as General "Thunderbolt" Ross from "The Incredible Hulk" will play a supporting role.
Emily VanCamp, who played Agent 13, Sharon Carter, and Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," will be coming back to their roles as well.
And if that wasn't enough the film will be introducing Chadwick Boseman, who will be making his entrance into the MCU as T'Challa, the Black Panther, Daniel Brühl, who will be taking on the role of the film's villain, Baron Helmut Zemo and Martin Freeman as government agent Everett K. Ross.
This movie is going to be huge.. I just hope it can live up to the previous installment Captain America: The Winter Solider, which is probably my favorite of all the Marvel movies.
In TV news... ABC announced the renewal of Agents of SHIELD for a third season (woot woot!!!) and even better then that, they announced a second season for Agent Carter (one of my favorite new series).
“MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER” (Season 2) “Marvel’s Agent Carter” returns for a
second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the
titular role of the unstoppable secret agent for the SSR (Strategic
Scientific Reserve). Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age
threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New
York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even
as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love —
she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war
Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to
protect.
ABC also announced a second season for the fun musical series Galavant.
CBS picked a full season of Supergirl, which means that they liked the pilot, so that's great news and the CW announced the title of the Arrow/The Flash spin off "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" and they released a synopsis of the storyline:
"When heroes alone are not enough … the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"
I'm a huge fan of Arrow and The Flash and this is sounding pretty awesome as well.. especially since it has one of my favorite actors Brandon Routh (Atom) will be one of the main characters for this series.
