Visiting Mom

Today Harry, Daisy and I went to visit my Mom. It had been a few months since our last visit and she was having a small BBQ. My brother (Michael), sister-in-law (Lora) and nephew (Kenobi) were visiting also and supposedly bringing Lora's brother's family and they were going to go sailing. They wound up not coming, for some reason... so it was just my brother's family, Mom, Chuck (step-dad) and Grandma. Since we brought Daisy we stayed a bit longer then we normally do. As Daisy is good for about 10 hours alone (potty break). And since it's a two hour drive up to see them and then two hour drive back that leave little time to hang out.

But it's always nice visiting family as I don't get to see them as much as I would like to. Also I got to see my nephew Kenobi twice in one week which is always great as he is growing up so fast. We took to a small beach and he got to experience sand and the ocean for the first time.. he loved both!!!

All in all it was a great day.

Recording our Next Podcast

Today Jenni came over and we recorded our next "regular" podcast for Knights of the Guild Ep.19 parts 1 & 2. We do these once a month but it's felt like forever since we did the last one. I've been doing solo Microcasts and CompanionCasts the past month it took me a while before I got into recording with a co-host. But soon enough we were bantering back an forth like we always do. There was a lot of listener feedback that I actually split it up and have it in both podcasts. And with listener feedback come me making mistakes, which in turns means I'll be doing lots of editing. Gotta get part 1 edited and done by August 15th and part two by August 29th.. of course I like getting things done and in the can far before they are due, not that it happens like that all the time. But I currently have 3 Companioncasts and 2 Regularcasts that need editing. Maybe I'll just take an entire day on lock myself in the office and edited everything at once.. will see what happens.. as long as I stay ahead of my release dates.

Podcasts and Home Gyms

Today Harry and I went to Sports Chalet to pick up a home gym system, we saw one there a few months ago that we really liked, but when we got there the no longer had it. They had a similar one but it was almost double in price. The one we liked was $499.99 and the new one is $799.99 and that's just for the machine you then have to by the weights and they had a set for about $300.00 so we look to spend over $1000.00 for this home gyms. Well I got cold feet, since I'm out of work and there is no money coming in and only going out I hesitated on spending that much. So I said I would shop around online and see if we could get a better deal.

So when I got home I checked online and was very surprised at the costs of home gyms.. for a decent one you are looking to spend $1500 to $4000. So I talked it over with Harry and we both agreed since it's for our health and to better our lives it's worth the $1000 to get it.. so we plan on going back this weekend to pick it up. Also spending that much is another motivator to keep me working out.. there is no way I'm spending that kind of money and not using it.

After that I worked on editing my next CompanionCast for Knights of the Guild podcast. New episodes come out every Tuesday and the companioncasts come out the day after.. so I really wanted to get the next one done early. I was hoping to get more then one done but I did manage to complete S4E4, still hope to finish E5, E6 and E7 by the weekend.. but will see how things go.

All in all is was another busy day.

Tron Vintage Figure from SDCC 2010

I've had requests for a better looking video of my new Tron action figure that I got at SDCC.. so here it is.

Prop 8 is no longer... at least for now

Today was a good day for equality. Prop 8 which banned same sex marriages in California was deemed unconstitutional and overturned. They did put a stay on reversing the ban meaning gay couples still can't get married until the appeal process, which can take years .

I just don't understand the hate towards gay marriage. How does two loving adults wanting to share their lives together effect straight couples? The churches, especially the Mormon church put millions of dollars into ads saying "think of the children, it will hurt the children", so I ask again how is gay marriage going to hurt the children? It doesn't plan and simple.

I have people say "well California has a really good domestic partnership program that gives you about 90% of what a marriage will give you.. aren't you happy with that?" And I respond with NO.. why should gay people not have the full 100% rights of married straight people.

Then some say that they think it's more of an issue of using the term Marriage.. would it be cool if you used the term Civil Unions. Again I say NO, if straight couple can use the term marriage why can't gay couples? We aren't forcing churches to have to marry gay couples.. if they want to segregate the gay couples out that is fine, but they shouldn't be getting any tax breaks or funding from the State. There are plenty of churches out there that are willing to marry gay couples. And for that matter.. lots of gay couple don't need to be married in a church. The reason most gay couples want to get married are the benefits of being married, taxes, hospital visits, etc...

Gay people getting married will in no way hurt "straight" marriages. We still have a long road ahead of us but hopefully this is a start.

And for those asking Harry and I can't get married even if it was legal because of the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) which is a Federal law that states a marriage is between a man and a woman and the immigration department is ran be Federal law.. so until that is over turned, which they are working on we can't benefit from any of these marriage laws. :(

Each one of these CompanionCasts will be episode specific and will vary in length depending on how much guildie goodness I was about to gather.

In this CompanionCast I interview Felicia Day, Sean Becker, Vince Caso, Greg Aronowitz, Kim Evey, Sandeep Parikh, and Wil Wheaton.

Getting Healthy

As I get closer to the Big 4-0 (Sept. 23rd) I've been more and more concerned with my health. I've gained an large amount of extra weight the past few years and it's had it's effects on my overall health. I use to work out and eat horribly so it would maintain my weight but I stopped working out (I have lots of excuses, work, buying a house, vacation) and still continue to eat horrible and the weight keeps adding up.

So now that I'm about to turn 40 I have decided to really dedicate myself in losing the weight and getting back into shape. I know this won't happen over night but I'm in it for the long haul. To start off with I'm going to do my best at eating less crap food, this will be the biggest struggle for me but I'm going to try my best. Second I'm buying a home gym so I can work out everyday. I use to love to work out (loved how it made me feel) and I'm sure I can get back into that routine.

Today I cleaned out our small garage ( we have a 3 car garage, 1 car and a 2 car section) It's now ready for my home gym which I'll be buying in the next few days. We already have an elliptical machine so my cardio is set. Gotta hook up some music or TV so keep my company.

When I start I'm going to keep a daily workout blog and keep everyone updated on my progress. I'm doing this for several reason.. 1 to keep my friends and family up to date and 2 the more important part, to use it as a motivator. Knowing that folks are watching my progress I hope it encourages me when I'm feeling a bit off or not up to working out... I need you guys to help support me during this tough process. Going to be staring on Monday.. stay tuned.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

While we waited on Harry's truck to be serviced we went to see Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I've heard mixed things about this movie and it hasn't done well at the box office at all.

Like with The Last Airbender, after watching it I don't understand why it's not doing better then it is. I really enjoyed this movie. The storyline was interesting, fun and not overly complicated. the special effects were AWESOME, the car chase scenes were cool and the final battle was great. I just don't understand why it's not doing better then it is. Maybe it's a Nic Cage thing... who knows.. all I know is I'll be buying this movie for sure when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

Errands and a Movie

Today we dropped off Harry's car a the service shop down in Canoga Park. When we do that it's always a few hours before it's done and instead of going home we normally go out for breakfast/lunch and then to a movie. We went and saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice (my review in the following blog).

After the movie we checked with the Dodge Dealer, but his truck wasn't ready yet. So we headed to the Northridge Mall. While there we stopped the Apple Store played around with an iPad. I'm pretty sure that there will be an iPad in the near future for both of us! After strolling trough the mall we finally decided to have lunch in the Northridge Mall at a place called Adelina's Mediterranean Grill. Although it's fast food it was very delicious, lula beef is the best.

After lunch we headed over to the Dodge Dealer and waited for the car to get ready. Around 5 pm they car was ready so I headed home while Harry got his truck and followed.

2nd Anniversary

Today two years ago Harry and I had our commitment ceremony / wedding. You can check out pictures from that day on my personal website. http://geekyfanboy.com/Wedding1.html

Happy Anniversary !!!!

Visting Family

Today I was able to visit my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law and Nephew. Harry was sick so I traveled to Corona by myself. Did lunch and a bit of shopping with Dad but the majority of my visit was with my sister-in-law Lora and my little guy, nephew Kenobi. He's a little over a year and becoming more and more fun. Even though I only see him a few times a month he knows who I am and will now play with me. I even got a wave goodbye today.

More Yard Work and Podcasts

Today was a carbon copy of yesterday but I actually finished doing yard work, every weed or at least all the ones I could find have been pulled or cut down. Our next big project is preventing weeds from growing. We can't spray because we drink the ground water so Harry and I were thinking of digging up all of our rock roads and laying down plastic (weed barrier) and then placing the rock back over it.. that way water can get through and into the ground but weeds can not grow. It will take a while to do all our roads but in the end it will be well worth the effort and time.

I also finished another podcast KOTG CompanionCast S4E3 which is due to be released on Wednesday August 4th. Would really like to get up to Episode 6 done by the end of the week. Just hope I have enough material to make some good podcasts.

Size Matters Not

Finally got the autobiography of Warwick Davis; Size Matters Not. This came out a few months ago in England but not in the States (at least I haven't been able to find it). So I went to his website and he was selling them and you could have them personally signed as well, which I did of course. And a few weeks later it arrived.

If you don't know who Warwick Davis is, his big roles were Wicket in Star Wars, Willow in Willow and Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter among many other cool movies and tv shows. I've been a big fan of his ever since Willow, for it's one of my all time favorite fantasy movies.

I can't wait to sit down and start reading about his very interesting life.

I Am...

Read this on a Facebook group called "Homosexuality is NOT a choice, but homophobia is."had to share it with you all.

  • I am the boy who never finished high school, because I got called a fag every day.
  • I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.
  • I am the guy that lives on the streets because I am scared to go home.
  • I am the prostitute working the streets because I can't find anybody who will hire a transsexual woman.
  • I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.
  • We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.
  • I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.
  • I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.
  • I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.
  • I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.
  • I am the child that dreams of seeing my mum again. The courts won’t let me because she lives with another woman.
  • I am the man who fears that I will never be able to be myself, to be free of this secret because I won’t risk loosing my family and friends.
  • We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.
  • I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.
  • I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.
  • I am the brother that gets called a fag just because my brother isn’t ashamed of who he is.
  • I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.
  • I am the girl that was raped behind my school because some stranger wanted to teach me to be a “real woman”.
  • I am the guy down the street that can’t get a disability pension because my partner is a man.
  • I am the woman who died when the paramedics stopped treating me because they found out I didn't have a female body.
  • I am the man that is afraid of losing his job, for expressing his true identity.
  • I am the mother that sees my son come home from school every day in tears because the other kids call him a girl.
  • I am the celebrity that wishes I could tell the world who I am, but I'm too scared.
  • I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.
  • I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I didn’t have to always deal with society hating me.
  • I am the Youth Worker that sees hundreds of kids thrown out of home because they were honest with their families.
  • I am the girl that struggles to get up in the morning because school is so cruel to me.
  • I am the footballer scared to come out because I might lose my contract.
  • I am the boy that always wanted a Barbie, but no one would let me have one.
  • I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most: love.
  • I am the person ashamed to tell my own friends I’m a lesbian, because they constantly make fun of them.
  • I am the boy tied to a fence, beaten to a bloody pulp and left to die because two straight men wanted to “teach me a lesson”.

We are all around you. We are the millions that want the hate to end.

Soulmates

I turned on the News and the show Bones was just finishing up and the leads were having a discussion on Soulmates and Bones quoted where the word Soulmates came from and I always liked the idea of being split in two and having "another" half out there (guess it's the romantic in me) but never knew where it came from so I looked it up.

Got this from Wiki : One story about soulmates, presented by Aristophanes in Plato's Symposium, is that humans originally consisted of four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them:
[Primeval man] could walk upright as men now do, backwards or forwards as he pleased, and he could also roll over and over at a great pace, turning on his four hands and four feet, eight in all, like tumblers going over and over with their legs in the air; this was when he wanted to run fast …Terrible was their might and strength, and the thoughts of their hearts were great, and they made an attack upon the gods ... Doubt reigned in the celestial councils. Should they kill them and annihilate the race with thunderbolts, as they had done the giants, then there would be an end of the sacrifices and worship which men offered to them; but, on the other hand, the gods could not suffer their insolence to be unrestrained. At last, after a good deal of reflection, Zeus discovered a way. He said: 'I have a plan which will humble their pride and improve their manners; men shall continue to exist, but I will cut them in two and then they will be diminished in strength and increased in numbers; this will have the advantage of making them more profitable to us. They shall walk upright on two legs, and if they continue insolent and will not be quiet, I will split them again and they shall hop about on a single leg.'
—Aristophanes, Plato’s Symposium,

Yard Work and Podcasts

Today I went back and forth with doing yard work and working on several podcasts.

Started the day with working on some Knights of the Guild business, emails, donations etc... I started to work on several Podcasts (Microcast 20 - Quest for SDCC, CompanionCasts 3,4,5, and 6) but as I started Avid I decided to head outside to get some yard work done. I have been putting it off since I got back from vacation and it really needs to be done. Though I was ready to edit podcasts today a spark of motivation got me outside for the next two hour pulling weeds and trimming trees.

Once I was back in I went and got lunch for Harry and I. Once that was over I sat down to record the intro and outro for Microcast 20. Also did an audio comment on The Temple of Doom for a friends podcast, Treks in Sci Fi.

I finally started to edit Microcast 20 and a few hours later it was done. I started the conversion process, which can take hours so in between processes I went back out several times and did more yard work until it was too dark to see. I did manage to get 2/3's of the yard work done and I will finish it tomorrow for sure. Also I finished Microcast 20 but haven't even started any of the CompanionCasts which bummed me out as I was really hoping to get more of them done by now.. oh well I always have tomorrow where it looks like I'll be doing the same thing.. yard work and podcasting.

Wild Fires Everywhere

Clash of the Titans Review

Both Harry and I wanted to see this movie when it came out this summer but because of vacations and schedules we weren't able to.. so when I read that it was coming out on DVD this week I knew I had to pick it up. Last night with our friend Thomas from Ireland we watched it and again I have to ask, as I did with The Last Airbender, why was there so much negative feedback for this movie. Now I know folks complained about the 3D as this was one of those films that was changed to 3D afterwards but if I did see this in the theater I wouldn't have seen it in 3D anyways.

I thought the SFX were cool, the story was the same as the original with a few tweaks and additional characters. The action scenes were fun and entertaining.I really enjoyed the 3 witch scene the make up was awesome, and the Medusa scene was well done. They even had a cameo of my favorite metal owl Bubo. I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was one of those fun entertaining roller coaster popcorn summer movie and I'm glad I got it on Blu-ray so I can watch it again and again in the future.

Vasquez Rocks, Islands and Titans

Today a friend of mine from Ireland came over to visit. I meet Thomas at Comic Con last year and continued to talk through out the year. This year at Comic Con we got to hang out alot more and had some really good times. He came back up to Los Angeles for a few days before heading back home and today he spent it with Harry and I.

We took him to Vasquez Rock for a mild hike, then to Islands for some yummy burgers. We got back to our place and I interviewed him for my Knights of the Guild podcast for the fan portion of it. We then had some delicious cupcakes that he bought for us and finally we sat down to watch Clash of the Titan's which I just purchased on Blu-ray.

It was a fun night, we got to know Thomas a little better and we are happy he spent his last "full" day here in LA with us. Safe travels Thomas.. see you soon.

Post Comic Con

Well I'm slowly recovering from this years Comic Con, posting up a ton of pictures to facebook this morning, which was a challenge as facebook picture uploader was having issues. You can check them out at the following links and you don't need to be a member of facebook to see them.

And that's all I have uploaded so far.. still have to do an "everything else" album.

I'm also working on KOTG podcasts as there was an error in one as I moved an entire section to part of 18 but then realized that we talk about going to comic con in that section and since it will be released after comic con I had to go back and cut it out. (not to mention that this podcast was completely done and already uploaded waiting to be released.) I also did one final pass on KOTG Microcast 19 Quest for Bollywood as the The Guild's music video came out at midnight and I'll be releasing the podcast at the some time tonight. I also have to start working on the next companioncast as episode 3 of The Guild will be out next Tuesday.

And if that wasn't enough I have TV I have to caught up on and a ton of yard work. Oh.. and I forgot to mention that I have to figure out what I want to do with my life as I'm not sure I want to go back into the field of Post Production for TV.

I'll keep you all posted.

San Diego Comic Con 2010 - Day 4

Email Hacked!!!

Today while at Comic Con and working the Guild signing (I was Felicia's muscle) she informed me that it looks like my email was hacked as she got an email from me for little blue pills.. I took a break and jumped online. I first had to figure out which email it was. After checking a few of them I found out it was my Yahoo and of course that's the one I've had the longest with the most email address so I spammed a bunch of people. Had lots of undeliverable responses as a lot of those email address are very old. I changed my password and tried to email everyone to let them know I was hacked and to not click on the link.. but yahoo froze my account. So I had to wait until I got back to the hotel and to send out that email.. everything looks to be working now. Sorry if I spammed you.

Packing for Comic Con

Today was pretty much spent finishing up prepping for comic con, making sure I have everything as well as packing up all the Knights of the Guild swag that I'm bringing to con to give away. Also had to pack up all electronics, computer, microphones and clothes. I was hoping to pack light but it looks like it's going to be 2 + suitcases. I also went to the grocery store to be some snacks, soda and water so I have to see if I can fit that in my suitcases are it's going to be three suitcases.

I plan on head out early tomorrow around 10am which means I should get to San Diego by 2ish and can check in to the hotel at 3pm, pick up my badges and be good to go.

I'm going to try and do video blogs every day from comic con.... at least that's the plan.

Wash That Gray!!!

Today I wanted to dye my gray hair.. as I seem to be getting more and more as time goes on. I got this "Just For Men" stuff that is suppose to target just the gray hair. Well that didn't quite work and instead I darken my already dark hair a few shades of brown. But at least my gray hair is gone and it doesn't look half bad.

Prepping for Comic Con

Spent all of yesterday and today prepping for Comic Con. Yesterday I was trying to get more podcasts done and prepped so I don't have to worry about them while at comic con. I also packaged up all the KOTG shirts, Comic books and Autographed pictures that people won as prized in my Knights of the Guild podcast.

Today I had to go to the post office and ship off the above KOTG shirts, Comic books and Autographed pictures that I owed people.. I feel bad as some folks have been waiting over a month and I really wanted to do this before comic con.

I also had to get a tire fixed on my jeep as I didn't like the idea of driving down to San Diego and not having a spare. And though I haven't driven my car much the past few months I got the oil changed as it was past due and again since I'm driving down to San Diego I wanted to make sure my Jeep was in good shape.

When I got back home I had received the two missing elements that I needed to finish my third podcast Ep. 18 pt2 which will be released on July 29th. So that's three down and if I'm lucky I can get my KOTG CompanionCast S4E3 done before I leave tomorrow.

So it was a busy day and tomorrow all I have to do is pack up cloths and all my KOTG stuff and I'll be ready to drive down to San Diego Wednesday morning.

WE DID IT!!!!!

Today we went past 100,000 downloads. When I started Knights of the Guild podcast I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would hit 100,000 downloads. Thank you to all our loyal listeners who come back time and time again and enjoy the bantering of Jenni and I. We call this a "Fans" podcast not only because Jenni and I are "Fans' but because this podcast is all about The Guild Fans. The Guild was built around it's fans and it's the fans that got us to 100,219 downloads as of 9pm 7/17/2010

Editing Podcasts

This past week I have been working on editing podcasts. Since Comic Con is next week I am really trying to get as many podcasts done before then. Today I spent the entire day working on these.

My current goal is finishing CompanionCasts for the first 3 episodes of The Guild (currently got 2 done). A regular podcast Episode 18 pt2 (almost done just waiting for two segments still to be recorded) and an surprise Microcast (which is done).

So as of now I have 1 CompanionCast for S4E3 and finishing Ep18 pt2. All in all I'm very happy with how much I have done this week. Should get done before next Tuesday when I head down to San Diego.

The Last Airbender

Harry and I just got back from seeing this movie. Now first let me say that I have heard nothing be bad reviews and comments about this movie. But from the previews both Harry and I wanted to see it. Again when I tweeted that I was in the theater getting ready to watch this movie I got over 15 replies saying things like.. "Run for your life" , " Get out while you still can", "You can't unsee this stuff once you watch it"... and so on.

When it ended I turned to Harry and said so what did you think. He looked at me and said I don't know what everyone is talking about.. I loved it.. and I said I know.. whats up with that... I loved it too.

It was a cool story, beautifully shoot, AWESOME effects, I felt for the main character and it was non-stop action. All in all it was a fun entertaining movie.

I have to say that I have never seen the TV series, but even if I had I would have still loved this movie. I am one of those rare people who understand what an adaptation is. I know it's not going to be like the TV series.. it's another persons idea of the same story... ie Harry Potter

I still can't get over the SFX.. they show alot of them in the commercials but man there are so much more. And the ice castle and temples are amazing looking. I know some have complained about the casting as most of the cartoon characters are Asian and they weren't Asian in the movie. Part of me understand why that route as an all Asian cast wouldn't sell to the masses.. it's sad but true. I think they casted very well all the main characters. The other thing is this only book one of the story.. though there is a beginning, middle and end they do leave the story open for book 2.

Anyways.. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. If you want a fun, entertaining ride then go see this movie and don't pay attention to all the haters out there.

A Visit from Lydia

My friend Lydia from Switzerland/Germany came to LA before heading down to San Diego for Comic Con. We've been trying to hang out all week and finally on her last day we manage to accomplish it. Harry and I wanted to take her out to Vasquez Rocks since it's only a few miles from us. Only issue is it's over 100 degrees. We figured we'd go and at least show her the place.

When we got there they were filming a movie, signs said HIRO but looked like Firefly to me. Maybe it's the new Mad Max film. Anyways we got out and walked around a bit. Even though it was hot she wanted to take a little hike. About a half hour later and a lot more hiking Lydia hit a wall and couldn't go any further. While she rested in the shade with Harry I quickly got back to the truck and drove to as close as I could got pick them up. Harry says she was really bad for a moment and looked like she was going to pass out... she didn't luckily and both made it back to the truck.

Once back at home both Harry and Lydia looked like they had heat stroke. Lydia actually took a shower to cool down and rinse off. After 2o minutes or so both were fine and ready for lunch. Since Lydia is a vegetarian I questioned my plans to take her to Islands (one of our favorite places) but they had veggie burgers and she was cool with that. So we had lunch, came back home and chatted for a bit. She debated on leaving at 4ish and dealing with traffic or leaving at 7ish and getting to SD really late.. she opted for 4ish and dealing with traffic.

It was a fun visit.. other then almost killer her from a heat stroke.

KOTGCompanionCast.jpg

Show Notes:

Here is our very first CompanionCast for Season 4 of The Guild. First of all be sure you watched Episode 1 of season 4. If you haven’t seen it yet watch it here.

What is a CompanionCast?? It’s a behind the scene look at the current episode of The Guild.

I visited the set everyday while they shot Season 4. As actors and crew were finished with scenes I would try and speak to them. Get some inside info about the scene they just shot. I also interviewed Felicia Day and Kim Evey about the storyline and Sean Beacker about the directing. Each one of these CompanionCasts will be episode specific and will vary in length depending on how much guildie goodness I was about to gather.

In this CompanionCast I interview Felicia Day, Kim Evey, Sean Becker, Sandeep Parikh, Jeff Lewis, Tymberlee Hill and Greg Aronowitz

I hope you enjoy a look behind the scenes of Season 4 Episode 1 “Epic Guilt”

Podcast Craziness

As many of you know I do the official podcast for the webseries The Guild. Well because of my vacation by podcast duties go a bit behind. Not only am I doing our regular podcast, microcasts, and minicast I've added something else to my duties.. CompanionCasts.

If you read my blog on a regular bases then you know I worked on set of the Guild. This season I was solely there as a podcaster, gathering interviews about the upcoming season. And now that Season 4 is about to begin I have to create this brand new podcast.

So the past four days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) I have been working on various podcasts. I have to do 3 CompanionCasts, 2 Regular podcasts and 1 Special podcast. All by next Tuesday.

I currently have 1 CompainCast done, and just in time as it is released tomorrow (or midnight tonight). I finished 1 regular podcast Ep. 18 part 1 which is due Thursday July 15th. Once those are done I have to work on 2 more CompainCast for episode 2 (which is released next Tuesday, which means my cast has to be done by Wednesday) and 3. Then part 2 of episode 18 which we still have to record a part of it. And I have to get all these done by Tuesday of next week as I'm heading out to Comic Con on Wednesday and will be gone until Sunday evening.

So I have lots of work ahead of me. I'll be spending most of the rest of this week working on these podcasts. I'm hoping now that I have 2 done the rest will be easier to finish.. I hope.

Top Secret Project

Today was a ton of fun. I got up early to get there. Once there it was nothing but fun and excitement. Got to meet some new people and hang out with old friends. It was a super long day 8am to 11pm but it was chuck full of OMG and I can't believe they did that moments. Will be doing this all again tomorrow. Can't wait until I can share what it exactly it is I did.

(BTW this is the only picture I can show that doesn't give away anything or does it...)

Home Sweet Home

Today I did very little.. did a little unpacking, had to go grocery shopping (as we made sure we had no food before we left for our trip) and tried to caught up on some internet stuff but for the most part I did nothing but relax and catch up on some TV that we had recorded during our vacation. It's good to be home!!!

2010 Pacific Northwest Road Trip

17 Days, 8 States and over 4000 miles. Harry, Daisy and I had a fantastic vacation/road trip. For the most part everything went as planned. We didn't have any issues with the truck and only a few issues with the hotels. Daisy was wonderful, if not over protective at times and Harry and I got to see some very beautiful sites.

I know I was ready to come home when we did but Harry said he could continue to travel for another few months.

I'm not going to go into great detail about the trip as I did written and video blogs every night of the trip. If you want details read/watch my previous posts.

I'm looking forward to getting my life back to normal, or as normal as my life can get. I was excited to get up this morning and not have to drive anywhere.. that was a great feeling.

I will be traveling again at the end of the month for Comic Con but that's down in San Diego and only a few hours drive.. I think I can handle that.

Hope you enjoyed my daily blog and felt as thought you got to travel with us during our 2010 Pacific Northwest road trip.

There are three albums on Facebook.. Here's a link to the first one and you don't need to be part of facebook to see them http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=447511&id=707225374&l=c4162dd85e

Pacific Northwest Road Trip - Day 17

This is the final day of our 2010 vacation / road trip. We are driving from St. George, Utah to our home in Agua Dulce, California. We took an unusual way home as both Harry and I are not fans of the Arizona Governor and her ultra right wing garbage with immigrants and gays. So instead of driving the 50 miles stretch of the 15 through Arizona Harry routed an alternate route.. only issue was that it was 135 miles out of our way and would add 2 1/2 hours of travel time. I was willing to over look hating Arizona and just get through that state as quickly as possible but Harry was adamant not to set foot there and I understood where he was coming from and agreed to drive the extra miles.

I'm kind of glad we did as it was an adventure into it's own. Harry mapped out everything on google maps but our travels didn't go as planned. We got to the highway that Harry had mapped out but soon it turned into a highway that we didn't know about and shortly after that it turned into a dirt road. Yeah we were in the middle of Utah/Nevada desert on a dirt road hoping we were going the correct way. When we hit a fork in the road we started to panic.

Harry had no idea which way to go and there was no clue as to which road to take. So we used our trusty GPS (which btw didn't show us on any road, just showed us driving in the middle of nowhere) I zoomed out on the GPS as far as it would go and saw that the 319 (which is the highway we were looking to connect with) was north of us so we took the north fork. Another half hour and we saw a sign that said 319 15 miles ahead. I could breath again... still had to drive on a dirt road but we knew we were going in the right direction.

After that we made it to the 319 then to the 93 and finally back onto the 15 and into Vegas. It was a long and crazy detour but a fun adventure.

Once it Vegas I knew we would hit traffic as it was the Fourth of July holiday traffic and it was Monday so everyone would be heading home.. I was hoping we were early enough to miss the traffic but I was wrong. Took about an hour and a half to drive from downtown Vegas to Primm (CA/NV border). After that we hit pockets of traffic here and there and in the end it added about 2 1/2 hours to our already extended trip home.

But at 8:30pm we made it home and man there is no place like home. I know Harry could have traveled for a few more months but I was happy to be home.

I'll write up an overview of the past 17 days in the next few days.. Thanks to everyone who has followed my video/written blogs for the past 17 days... hope you were entertained and enjoyed them.

Pacific Northwest Road Trip - Day 16

Today was the last day of sightseeing of our 2010 Vacation. We planned to visit Zion National Park. So we left around 10 am, took I-15 to Highway 9 and followed it east. about 1 hour later we got to Zion. We checked the map and it turns out that most of the features of Zion can be explored if you go backpacking. Since dogs are not allowed on trails, that wasn't really an option. So we drove through the southern part of Zion. That are about 15 miles or so, but it was still very impressive and the rock formations are incredible. Something that definitely has be experience in person. We have to go back to Zion in the future and without the dog to go backpacking. We crossed Zion from West to East and by the time we reached the East Entrance it was just a little after noon. People told us that we should go visit Bryce Canyon National Park while we were down here.. so we looked it up on the map and saw that it was about 60 miles north of were we were so we decided to go up and check it out.

So we took US Route 89 north to Highway 12. We followed highway 12 east. While on the 12 we came across a place called Red Canyon and OMG.. there was some of the most amazing looking rock formations that I had ever seen. It was like driving on Mars.. everything was an organish red. It's hard to describe the beauty of the lands, it's something that really needs to be experienced in person. At every view point we stopped and took a ton of pictures and video.

After the Red Canyon we followed highway 12 and got to the entrance of Bryce Canyon National Park. Our first stop was called Swamp Canyon. You have a pretty good view of parts of Bryce Canyon and here it becomes clear, why it is called a canyon. Until that point it reminded us more of your average forest. We drove further up and decided to stop at most of the view points on our way back down, since they all were on the opposite side.

We finally made it to Rainbow Point, the endpoint of the road and with an elevation of 9115 feet also the highest point of the canyon. From this point you have an absolutely amazing 180 degree view... And man what an fantastic view. The Hoodoo's are absolutely stunning. A Hoodoo is a Sandstone Columns, it's something that I have never seen before.

After we had taken pix and video we started to drive back down. We stopped at several view points and from every view point we had an absolutely stunning view. One that was pretty cool was called Natural Bridge. It's kind of a rock bridge, but it reminded me way more of an arch. Regardless it was just amazing to look at. After taking pix and video we continued to drive down Bryce Canyon. We stopped at several amazing viewing points before we got to Bryce Pointe... WOW.. that is all I can say about that view. I can't even put it into words. I have to say that this is the best thing I have seen on our entire trip.. and I've seen some really beautiful stuff.. this view took my breath away. While I was taking pictures I saw way down at the bottom what looked like a hiking trail... the only thing I thought was, that this has to be one of the most amazing hiking trails I have ever seen. Guess we will have to go back to Bryce Canyon and hike that entire trail, but in order to do so we have to leave the dog at home.

Next up was a viewing point called Paria View. This point had some great views, but doesn't even compare to Bryce Pointe. We then saw Inspiration Point, Sunset Point and Sunrise Point. Though they were all great views after Bryce Pointe, nothing would compare.

We headed back through Red Canyon and back on the freeway. It took 2 hours to get back to our hotel, we picked up some Wendy's for dinner and called it a night.

All in all it was a great day.. so glad we decided to head to Bryce Canyon because if we didn't we wouldn't have seen Red Canyon or the stunning views of Bryce Canyon.

Pacific Northwest Road Trip - Day 15

Today was pretty much a travel day. We were going down to St. George (UT) since we will be visiting Zion National Park tomorrow, and St. George was the closest city where we were able to get a hotel.

We got up at our usual time and started to get ready. By 10 am the truck was all packed up and we were ready to leave. So we took US Route 191 North until we reached the junction with I-70. We followed I-70 to the junction with US Route 6. We stayed on I-70 and followed it west.

I-70 was so much more interesting to drive than the I-15, as the areas you drive through are more diverse. There are a couple of view points along the freeway that we checked out. Two of them were Black Dragon Canyon and Bottom of the Sea. Black Dragon Canyon is a mini version of the Grand Canyon and therefore very impressive. Bottom of the Sea is, like the name suggests, the former ocean floor and quite an impressive site as well.

The only thing that you have to consider when traveling the I-70 is the fact that you should make sure you have enough gas. We didn't fill the truck up at the junction with US Route 6 and you have only 1 chance to fill up for about 106 miles.

We weren't sure if we were going to make it to Salina, so we got off the freeway and drove to the little town of Emery (UT), it was about 12 miles from the freeway and we got gas there. So we filled the truck up and headed back to the freeway.

We probably could have made it to Salina, but it was better to not take the chance. We got off the freeway in Salina anyway and had lunch at Denny's. We got back onto the freeway and continued to head south-west until we hit I-15. we got onto I-15 and headed south. At the next rest stop I took over the driving.

The further we got south the hotter it got. So far it hadn't been that bad... It has been around 85 all day long. That changed during the last 30 miles, when the temperature went up to 100. Pretty toasty. At 4.30 pm we had finally made it to the hotel in St. George (UT).

Looking forward to Zion tomorrow.
