Legend of Neil BTS Shoot

Today I shot more BTS for the Comedy Central/Webseries The Legend of Neil. Had to be up at 5am so I could leave my house by 5:30am and be on stage at 6am, well the location wasn't the easiest thing to find as google maps forgot to mention a few streets to turn on. But with a 15 minute detour I was able to locate the stage and begin my filming. I can't really say much about the characters or story, got some really good BTS and I'm looking forward to cutting some cool BTS together. Only downside was it was a long day 6am to 8pm. And I get to do it all again tomorrow.

Work Craziness Continues

Man I was so happy the weekend was coming, the past week of work was horrible. Not that I get to rest this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday I am shooting BTS for Legend of Neil. Though it will be fun I wish I had some time off after this tough week.. oh well life moves on.

KOTG on Itunes

It was such a horrible day at work but right before I left I was checking out itunes and looked at there top 100 TV and Movie Audio podcasts and guess what I found.. Knights of the Guild was number 88… How cool was that.. talk about lifting my spirits.. it's just what I needed.

What a Day!!!!

Wow.. I haven't had this bad of a day in a long while. First we tell us that we can't digitize tapes that run over the 24 hour mark.. this is of course after we have already digitized almost 5000 tapes. I wish they would have told me when I started this job months ago. It took me and my AE four hours to figure out how to find out which tapes were wrong. Luckily it was only 70 tapes out of the 5000 that will need to be re-done, but that is another 70 hours of digitizing that could have been prevented if they would have mentioned this rule when I first started.

This whole tape issue didn't help with the fact that we are up against the wall to get a four hundred(hours) of tapes digitized in a few weeks. Between decks breaking down, the crappy job the camera guys did on shooting the stuff (timecode breaks ever few seconds that cause the machine to kick the tape out) it takes two hours to digitize an hour tape.

Besides that we have old Avid system that breakdown at least once a day so I have editors and producers complaining everyday about something.

It was just a frustrating day....

Recording KOTG #2

Tonight Jenni and I got together to record episode 2 of Knights of the Guild podcast. Both of us are super busy and this seemed like it would be the only time we could do it and since it need to be posted by the 15th we went ahead and recorded.

I had to scramble and find a fan to interview and luckily I got my buddy Bel-Rand from The Guild chat forums. He's from Sweden and the time we picked to do the recording/interview was 9pm our time but 5am his time. But he really wanted to do it so he stayed up all night. Thanks Bel-Rand.

The interview was fantastic and the rest of the podcast just flew by. This is only the third time Jenni and I have recorded but it's like we have been doing this forever. I did a rough cut of the podcast after we recorded it and it sounded great. I can't wait to add the bumpers and interviews and polish it off. It will be posted on March 15th.

Forgot to Vote

I was so busy today getting stuff done around the house, hanging out with Harry and getting computer stuff done I totally forgot about voting. I was listening to the news at 10pm and it hit me.. I turned to Harry and said.. "Oh crap I totally forgot to vote today". Oh well.. whatcha going do.

Taking a Day Off

Since I put in a 16 hour day yesterday I decided not to go into work today (it's good to be the boss). Instead I stayed home and hung out with Harry, worked on my new website, edited a podcast and watched some TV. Of course I got four or five calls from work but they were things I could over the phone. So all in all it was a very nice day.. wish I had more of those. Back to the grind tomorrow..

Long Work Day

Today I came into work around 9am and left work around 1am, It was a super long 16 hour day of digitizing. One of our boats (I'm working on Deadliest Catch) wasn't able to send in tapes like the others and all of a sudden then sent up 200+ tapes that had to be digitized in three days. So I stayed for a double shift to get as much of it in the system as I could. I'm glad I stayed because I got a lot done and we are a bit closer to getting all those tapes into our system.

BTS for Legend of Neil

Today was the first shoot day on season two of Legend of Neil. Sandeep (who plays Zaboo on The Guild) is producing this comedy for comedy central. Legend of Neil is of course a spoof on Legend of Zelda, a very popular video game. You can check out season one and find out more info here about Legend of Neil http://www.effinfunny.com/legend-of-neil

Since I did the BTS stuff for The Guild Sandeep had asked if I would do the same for LON season 2. And of course I said okay. Well come to find out they are shooting two weeks straight and of course I have a daily job. So I will only be shooting stuff on weekends for the next two weekends. I did pass on my camera to Jenni and hope she or another PA can get some good footage for me to use in my BTS stuff.

Today was our first day and we were filming in Angeles National Forest. It's a beautiful location but man there was alot of climbing up and down hills. I'm an old man and not use to all that walking. By the end of the day my feet were dying. But it was a fun shoot, lots of cool stuff happened. I took about 3 1/2 hours of video and about 300 pictures. I'm bummed that I won't be with them this coming week and look forward to joining them again next Saturday.
