My MASH 4077 Podcast

Today I recorded the first four episodes of my new M*A*S*H 4077 Podcast with my buddies Meds from Waffle On podcast and Al from Tales from the MouseHouse & The Fast Forward Podcast. I talked about wanting to do this podcast in a previous blog and today we got started. We did the first four episode of season 1. I think it went pretty smooth, we're still working out the format and details but I think it was informative and fun. I hope to get the first episode out by Feb. 1st and if that doesn't happen then the next few days. I plan to released 2 episodes per month with one to two SwampCasts in between.

Thanks to Meds and Al for co-hosting this podcast with me.. we have 11 seasons and 251 episodes to cover.. gonna be a blast!!!

Challenger: 25 Years Later

The Space Shuttle Challenger was lost with all hands 25 years ago today, Jan. 28th, 1986. I remember like it was yesterday. I was in 9th grade going to Don Lugo High School out in Chino. I was in my History class and they had set up a TV so we could all watch the launch live.  I was so excited that we were going to be able to watch it live as I'm a huge geek and space lover. I was following all the prepping for this mission, Was excited that a civilian/teacher was going up for the first time. I couldn't wait until the launch.

When the shuttle launched everyone started to cheered. I don't think anyone could have ever imagined what would happen next. I remember the cheers slowly died down as folks started to realize that something was wrong. I don't remember much else from that day.. it's kind of one big blur. This is one of those events that you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened. It's some thing that I will never forget for as long as I live.

We lost some brave men and women that day.. may they never be forgotten.

Face Off

Face Off is a new reality/game show on the Syfy channel. It's like Project Runway but with Special Effects.  I'm not much into reality TV these days other then my favorite Amazing Race but after watching the first episode I have to say this is one fun show. Maybe it's because I'm all into the special effects side of movies and TV but I found this show very compelling and entertaining. They have some very talented people. I mean the very first challenge is a 2 hour competition to incorporate their surrounding onto a face makeup of a model. You really got to see who has talent and who is just so so. Another aspect of the show that I liked was the age of most of the contestants... they looked to be in there 30's more then 20's and not all good looking.

I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series goes. Next weeks episode looks like a lot of fun... can't wait. If you missed the first episode you can watch it here.. http://www.syfy.com/rewind/faceoff/

Sick of Being Sick

Well I'm on day 14 of being sick and I'm done being sick. It started with dizziness and hacking coughs then moved to sinus', runny nose, ear aches and slight cough. Now it's sore throat, slight congestion, sore body and occasional cough. I can't tell if I'm getting better or it's worse.. there was a time last week for a few days that I actually felt pretty good and thought I was on the upswing but today I had a hard time waking up, my body is sore my throat is killing me.

This has been the longest I've been sick in recent memory. I've talked to others and they have say they've been sick for three weeks before they felt better.. I don't know if I can last another week feeling like this :(

Learning Sign Language

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to learn American Sign Language. I've tried in the past to learn starting with the alphabet but it never stuck. Last week I took up the challenge again and downloaded a page with the alphabet on it. After some confusion for different signs for the same letter I manage to learn the entire alphabet in a few minutes. It was amazing... for the next few days I practice while driving to lunch and during my commute to and from work.. but I retained it. I know every letter and am now spelling words... of course I'm a horrible speller.. but it's a start. I'm now starting to learn more signing and it's actually sticking. Don't know why this time around it's actually staying with me but I'm extremely excited to actually be doing/learning something that I have been wanting to learn for over 30 years... yay me!!

A Healthier Me - Day 163

Update on my work outs.. Well I'm still sick so I haven't worked out for almost two weeks and it's killing me. I almost started back up today as I am feeling better but still congested, stuffy nose and occasional cough. So I figured it was best to get 100% and then start working out again. I hope to get back to working out in a few days. I've been off so long it's going to be like starting all over again :(

Since it's Monday I did weight myself, I'm currently 208

Yep I'm up another pound and I've gained a total of 3.5 pounds since I stopped working out. This isn't a surprise or disappointment.. I knew that I would gain weight while not working out and I'm actually happy with the amount (thought it would be worse). Anyways hopefully things will get back on track once I get rid of this stupid cold/flu.

Past Few Days

Not a whole lot going on the past few days.. work week ended and things are starting to pick up so that's good. I did go out to dinner with my Padawan Troy on Friday which was great as it had been a few weeks since we hung out. I drove out to Long Beach to go to an Islands near his place. Had a horrible drive Friday with traffic and my GPS taking me in the wrong direction.. and to top it off when I finally get to Islands I check my phone and see a text from Troy saying "Were going to the Islands in Burbank.. right?? " Should have seen the look on my face.. I immediately contacted him and luckily he wasn't too are away and was able to turn around and get to me in about 15 minutes. We had a great dinner and as always a nice chat until 1:30am.

Saturday started off with me going to a secret location and watching Felicia Day's new mystery project that she's been working on. She invited me to set last week but I've been sick and Saturday was the last day. Can't say anything but I did tweet "O....M.....G!!!!!! " I'm sure I'll blog more and posts pictures when I can.

Later that day Harry and I headed over to my friends Tom's 42nd Birthday party. It was a sci fi / Hitchhiker Guild to the Galaxy themed party. Harry and I didn't dress up but we did bring out towels. Got to see lots of friends and some that we've haven't seen in a year.. so that was great. We had a really good time.

Sunday has been a catch up day.. was suppose to visit family today but Dad, Brother and Nephew have been sick and since I'm still not 100% I thought it best to postpone that visit. Instead I did things around the house. Went grocery shopping, cleaned up a bit, did the laundry.. but was a good to do just relax and enjoy the day off.

Was planning to work on the next installment of Knights of the Guild podcast but I'm not sure I'll get to that today.. but will see.. got a few hours before I head to bed.
