Happy Surprises

This is how I like to end my workweek. This week was busy at work. We are starting to get close to outputting our first show for the network. There was a lull in my workload and the day was dragging so when the opportunity came up to go junk food shopping for the office I took it. Normally the Post Super don't do things like this but I wanted to get out of the office and I enjoy bringing goodies back to the office and making everyone happy. So I went to Smart and Final and had $200.00 dollars to spend on junk food. I went walking up and down the aisle and got to the candy aisle and noticed slightly under one of the shelves on the floor were two, twenty dollars bills. Of course your instinct is to look around and see if anyone sees you or if the person who dropped them was near by but there was no one around so I picked them up and pocketed them. So not only did I bring happiness to the office with all the goodies I bought but also I got a few extra spending dollars in my pocket. It was a good Friday.

It Finally Happened!!!!

As many of you know I worked on Curl Girls last year and finished it up in Dec. 06. Well that was just the beginning. The Logo network has so many issues and problems with the show, tapes, deliveralbes and such. Some were our mistakes.. but most were the company's left hand not telling it's right hand what it was doing. It has taken me five months to sort all the issues with the network. Finally today I get an email telling me that everything has been accepted and payment for the how has been submitted. Now I can focus on my current job and delete the 5000 emails I have for Curl Girls.

Spiderman III

I really enjoy the Spiderman movies and was looking forward to the third part. Harry and I debated on seeing it opening night Friday. But since work was busy and we knew the crowds would be crazy. I knew with all the new movies coming out every weekend for the next three month we had to see this opening weekend, so we decided to see it on Sunday. We got to the theater for a 3:05 showing. We got there an hour early and there was no one in line so we decided to go check out a local furniture store. Got back to the line and there were about six people in front of us. We were seeing it in one of the smaller rooms but still a very large screen. We sat about three rows back from the middle. The movie was alot of fun. It was very entertaining. I can't say it's better then the other two but is wasn't worse. All three movies are entertaining. They all have there good parts and there slow parts and this episode wasn't any different. I loved the special effects in this one. At points in the fighting so much is happening on screen it's kind of like visual overload. The bad guys were cool Sandman, a misunderstood father. and then the alien black gooo which takes over Peter for a part of the movie but becomes Venom at the end. It was a fun movie and I look forward to seeing again with my Dad in a few weeks.

Doggie Doctor & Magic Mountain

Today was a busy day.. first thing in the morning we took Daisy for her regular checkup. All is well with her. After that Harry and I went to our favorite amusement park "Magic Mountain" and spent five hour going on nine rollar coasters. We had a great time but really feel the effects of getting older... oh well such is life. We had a great time.

Just another week!!

Just another week... My job is quiet at the moment, which is nice. Still looking for a house to rent, but haven't had any luck so far. Harry is doing well. Daisy is fine.

Heroes is back!!!!

After a seven week haitus Heroes is back. I have been loving this series so I was very excited to finally see a new episode after seven weeks and it didn't disappoint. This series has something happening in every scene on screen. Unlike another favorite tv show that I really enjoy Lost, which leaves with you more questions then answers. Heroes has not fallen into that trap. Heroes has secrets but they tend to give more answers before asking more questions. I love this series.

Toy Room Clean Up

Well I spent this weekend cleaning/organizing my toy room. The past few months I have gotten a ton of new toys and have let my toy room fall apart. I just have too many toys to display. At the moment there are a ton of action figures on the floor, which I hate but unless I box the figures up they will have to sit on the floor for the time being. It took me two days but my toy room looks AWESOME again. I took video of it and when I'm done editing it I'll post it online for all to see.

Unexpected Work... and New Tires

Well this was going to be the first weekend that I didn't have to go into work. I was looking forward to getting some stuff done around the apartment, my toy room is a mess. Well at 10am I got a call from one of the producers saying that our EP wanted some footage that was shot on Friday uploaded to our FTP site so she can see it. Currently our EP is in Europe shooting in Paris. I was not a happy camper. I had plans that day and being the nice boss that I am, didn't want to ruin my AE's weekend so I decided I would do this myself.

But before I went into work I really needed to get new tires for my jeep. The front left one was going bald and I was afraid it would blow while driving. I've been wanting to do this for about a month but never seemed to have the time. So I decided that I would get new tires then go into work and get this footage uploaded for her. The tire thing took a bit longer then expected. I knew I only wanted to spend about $100.00 per tire and I did pretty good. Got some really good tires for $96 and after the install and taxes it was going to cost about $600.00. Five minutes after I left the tire place and started to walk home, since it was going to take several hours I got a call from the tire place telling me that my shocks are bad. This wasn't the first time I heard that so I figure I would get that done and they were running a deal if you buy three you get the fourth free.. So I did that and my final bill came too $998.96. I look at it this way... I have never replaced my tires or shocks so it was all for a good thing and boy do my new tires look great.

So now it's 6pm, Harry and I have dinner and we both go into work to get this thing done. Four hours latter it's done and we are at home relaxing on the couch watching the news. Not how I planned my Saturday but I did manage to get one thing marked off my list. Sometimes it's tough being the boss.

Life Updated

Nothing really going. Work has been busy but not crazy like the past few weeks. I'm actually still dealing with my previous job Curl Girls, even thought I finished that show back in Dec.

I bought Harry his I Mac for his birthday but since we upgraded the video card it had to be shipped and we couldn't get it from the Apple store. We were disappointed but Harry is very excited about his new Mac and I'm very happy that I can make my Harry happy.

Daisy is doing well, still hates dogs but she's getting better.

Still looking for a house to rent, still trying to figure out if my Dad will be living with us or not.

Harry's jeep is still dead, even though it's been taken to the Jeep dealer and they nothing is wrong. We just don't have the time to try and figure why it's not working. Will work on that problem this weekend.

Very excited about some upcoming movies, Spiderman III, Transformers and of course this July will be Harry Potter month with a new movie #5 and the final book #7 coming out within a week of each other, also for the month of July I'll be going to Comic Con.

All in all LIFE is moving along.

Harry's 36th Birthday Dinner

It's become a tradition now to celebrate Harry's birthday at Outback Steakhouse. It's one of his favorite restaurants. So again this year friends and family gathered for this annual event. The service was good and the food was excellent. Last year Harry had the huge 20 oz Steak but this year he did Prime Rib. Friends Bruce, John, Moises, Mark and Tom along with my Dad joined in the party. Fun was had by all.. just keep John away from those Bloomin' Onions.

Harry's 36th Birthday

It's my favorite Austrian's 36th Birthday today. He's 36 years young and still as cute as ever. This morning I got up early and went to buy him some flowers, a dozen roses mixed with some summer flowers. I left them all arranged in a pretty vase on the dining table for him to see as soon as he came down stairs. I had to work but thought it would be nice to take him out of dinner after I got off. We were planning a trip to Outback Steak the following weekend for his Birthday Dinner with friends and family so we didn't want to do that again so he said how about Sizzler, we both really like Sizzler. So we ended up eating a late dinner at Sizzler, which was quite nice. All in all a quiet day for Harry's 36th Birthday. Oh BTW I am going to by Harry a new I Mac computer since he is tired of having his PC laptop.

The First Week of My New Job

Well after being out of work for the past two and a half months I was very excited to get back to work.. not for the work but for the money. This new job had some for the same people that I worked with on my previous job so I thought it would be a lot of fun. Well the people are great but things are starting off on shaky ground. I don't office and for that matter I don't even have a desk. We are in a very small building sharing it with another show done by the same production company and they have been there for a few weeks already so they have staked out all the good spots and I'm given the leftovers. So my job of setting up the office has been an hassle. Rooms that are mine still have stuff in them so I really can't do anything. I'm working on a system that is unfamiliar to me so that makes things hard. And I have the EP telling me that all these things need to get done ASAP but I don't have the resources. Anyways I'm glad it's the weekend even though I have to go in on Sunday for a bit. I'm hoping next week will come together a bit better. I get the rest of my rooms and systems and a few more people will start. Oh well it's work.

The Holiday on DVD

I love romantic comedies so when I saw previews to this movie I wanted to see it but I never got a round to, so I rented it first thing when it came out on DVD last week. I finally got to watch it and I was not disappointed. It was a very cute and fun romantic comedy. It was like two romantic comedies in one. Both stories were fun and entertaining. If you're looking for a fun romantic comedy then this movie is for you. Here's a synopsis.

Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women, who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur, mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.

The Dog Walking Dance

Sometimes you have the rouge dogs where the owner defy LA laws and allow their dogs to run leash-less. If we every run into one of those we take immediate action and look for the quickest escape route. Luckily in the few years that we have had Daisy I have only had to kick away one dog that was leash-less and came running at her as the owner screamed for her dog to come back. "They make leash laws for a reason. " I said to the owner but she just said her dog wouldn't hurt a fly and that she can control it. I laughed and told what a good job she is doing as I kicked at her dog a second time. The next time I saw this woman her dog was leash-less but as she saw me he quickly leashed her dog. All in all we have a pretty good group of people with dogs who know the rules of the Dog Walking Dance.

Every morning of everyday I walk the dog first thing after getting up. We live in a neighborhood with quite a few dogs and Daisy being the way she is we try and avoid those dogs. Many of the people do they same so everytime we go out it's like a dance. You start down the sidewalk and if you see another dog walking in the opposite direction one of you will cross the street to avoid the conflict. Then another dog will come towards you so you cross the street again. It's a back and forth kind of thing. Sometimes you run into trouble when you see dogs coming from both directions and there really is no where to go. But for the most part people are well verse in this dance and will stop to allow you to get by them with incident.

"Little" Brother Outing

After canceling last weekend because of my bad back I picked up my "little" and we went to Griffith Park to go hiking. We started on this really cool trail but about 1/3rd of the way on it he started to get freaked out. The trail is covered in trees and you could hear all kinds of things in the bushes. So instead I decided to take him on one of the fire trails.. this is an open trail but kind of windy. We barely got started when he got bored and tired and wanted to head back. So we got a little hiking in. After that we went to Jack in the Box and ate some lunch. It was a fun but short hike.

AFV Taping

Today Harry and I went to a taping of America's Funniest Home Videos. They film out in Manhattan Beach and we had to be there at 10:30am for a 12:00pm taping. We got there and found where to park. Next we stood in line for about an hour or so. They finally tell us if we need to go to the bathroom we need to go now because they don't take breaks while shooting. So I go then Harry goes and we wait some more. Harry has to go again and while he is gone they come and take us to outside the stage. Now I began to panic because Harry is still in the bathroom. After what felt like hours, but actually only a few minutes one of the pages comes escorting Harry back to the line. We now stood in front of the stage for a while then they took us through a metal detector where Harry was stopped and it kept going off so he kept taking stuff out of his pockets but he was still beeping. Finally they let him go even though he still beeped. By this time we fell four people back from where we were in line. Then go back outside and stand in another line waiting to go in. We finally get in and they start to seat you. It doesn't matter where you are in line they place people where they want them. So if you are pretty or cute or dressed real nice you get place in front or on an aisle. We sat on the third row back over on the left side of the stage. We had pretty good seats but I noticed that the people who took our spots when Harry got stuck at the metal detector were sitting in the second row next to the aisle and in a prefect spot to be on TV. Oh well.. nothing you can really do. We enjoyed the show. It was fun to see how they put it all together. Both Harry and I voted for the same video but it came in third. All in all a fun day.. a lot of waiting and standing but in the end it was fun.

Doctor's Visit

Today I had my first doctor’s visit in four years. Since losing my health benefits many years ago I have been without insurance. Now that I'm getting up there in age I figure it was time to bite the bullet and buy health insurance. I found a fairly good plan and made my first appointment. I wanted a gay doctor so I asked around and my friend Bruce gave me the name of his doctor, Dr. Anthony Mills. I went in for my physical and he checked me from head to toe, inside and out and all is well. Other then my weight, which I know I'm a little to heavy he says I'm in good shape. So all in all a good visit.

4 Year Anniversary

Well it was four years today that I got an email response to my personal ad on Yahoo that started with, Hello Kelly. And now four years later we are as happy as can be. Of course we have had our ups and downs but most of them dealt with immagration issues, but personally Harry and I are having a great time together. Here's to a long and happy life together. I LOVE YOU

Got a Job... Finally

Finally after two and a half months of being off... I just got a new job. I'll be Post Production Supervisor on a new TV series called "First Class all the Way" it's for the Bravo network. Don't have a clue what it's about.. i'm just glad for the work. Yay me!!!!!!! I start March 19th and it runs till the end of July..

Getting Married.. Well Sort Of.

Well this March 11th marks the anniversary of when Harry answered my personal ad on Yahoo. Harry and I have been together for four years. We know we will be together for the rest of our lives so we decided that we want to make it official.. at least in our hearts. Next year will be our five year anniversary and we thought it would be a perfect time to have a Commitment Ceremony. We are still in the early planning stages, but right now it looks like it will happen in July or August 08. More details to come.

Paramount Ranch

Today Harry, Daisy and I went to Paramount Ranch. For those who don't know what this is. It is an old studio lot where they filmed quite a few westerns, as well as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. They still film here and there but its more of a area that you can go hiking, have a picnic, walk around the remaining Western Town. It's a lot of fun. The other good thing about this place is that it allows dogs. Most State Parks won't allow dogs so it's great to have this place were we could go hiking with Daisy. Today we hiked for about an hour and a half. It was alot of fun, but of course I took a tumble down a hill and scraped up my arm and leg but all in all a fun time.

Country is Back

Well last year the Los Angeles area lost it's one and only Country radio station KZLA. Both Harry and I along with alot of other people were taken back. KZLA was the number one country station in the US but for some reason they replaced it with Movin', some dance hip hop station. The beginning of this year country came back to LA but in the AM, which isn't the best quality but it was country and we were happy. But today Country comes back to LA on the FM band 105.1 "Go Country'. I guess LA complained enough and they heard us.. I'm so excited that it's back.

"Little" Brother Outing

Best Buy One More Time

So we took Harry's jeep in to have the radio hooked back up. We haven't had the best experience with these people and it continued. After they installed the radio and then uninstalled the radio they failed to mention that the antenna was broken, which explains why we couldn't get AM and the FM was a hit and miss. But this time we had a much better tech guy and much cuter guy working on the jeep. He said he could replace the antenna for five bucks and all would be well. I was happy to finally get some good news. When he was done he told me he wasn't going to charge me because they didn't have the antenna needed but had an extra one lying around so he used that one. So now the radio and antenna are working great and after a year of no radio Harry finally has his radio. And to top it off our cute Best Buy Tech had a stutter, which made him even more adorable.

Taxes

I know I'm one of those weird people who look forward to Tax time. Today I did my taxes. I have an accountant who has done the the past seven years and he's great. Working in the Entertainment Industry I am lucky that I can write off portions of almost anything to do with entertainment. Every year I get a refund. This years refund isn't as much as I had expected but it's still a refund, so I can't complain.

Harry's Jeep Issues

Well today we took Harry's Jeep's battery to Autozone to have it tested. Come to find out that the battery wasn't the correct battery for Harry's jeep and when we added the radio to it, it was to much for it and damaged it. So we have to purchase a new battery and this coming Saturday we are going back to Best Buy and have them re-hook up Harry's Jeep radio. Wish us luck...

Bella's Baptism

Our friends Jack and Tara recently had a beautiful baby girl. Today was her Baptism. I had never gone to a baptism so I was looking forward to it. There were about six or seven other children being baptized at the same time. It lasted about an hour then we went to one of Jack and Tara's favorite Italian restaurant called Cavi to celebrate. This was your typical Italian feast, it lasted about five hours and there were many courses. All in all a fun night.

More Best Buy Fun

Well we installed a new radio and speakers into Harry jeep last weekend and two days later the battery was dead. We charged the battery and made sure everything was turned off. Well the next day it was dead again. We figure it was the radio so today we took the jeep back to Best Buy so they could check it out. Well they said the radio was hooked properly and they could not explain why the battery was dying. So we decided to remove the radio and see if that was actually the problem. Of course they did this and didn't bother to call us and let us know it was ready so Harry's opened Jeep sat in back of a very dark Best Buy. Finally around 8pm I called and they said.. "oh yeah it's been done.. you can come and pick it up". Luckly it was all there and safe.. but I'm starting to dislike these Best Buy Stereo people.

Curl Girls Again

I worked a few days on my previous show Curl Girls. There was an issue with some of the material that we sent to them and we had to re-do some stuff. I wasn't too happy because I thought this show was done with but since I haven't had a job since the end of Dec. the money will come in handy. As I was fixing these problems more come up and it looks like I'll be fixing a few more problems in the coming weeks. This has turned into the job from hell... I need a new job.

Sarah Jane Adventures

I'm a big Doctor Who fan and I finally got to see the spin off series The Sarah Jane Adventures. Sarah Jane Smith was a companion of the older Doctor Who series and made a guest appearance in the second season of the new Doctor Who series. Her appearance was very well recieved so the decided to do a spin off series for her. It premired in England on Jan 1st but I wasn't able to get it till recently and we watched on our TV night.

I really enjoyed it. I think it had the same feel as the Doctor Who series. Of course Sarah Jane had some advance tech. stuff which some of the people who watched it with me didn't really like but it didn't really bother me. This series is geared towards children and you could tell but I'll watch it when it comes out in April.

Lost is back

After three months of being off the air.. Lost is finally back and I'm so excited. This is the third season and I know some folks are getting tired of the constant questions and very few answers but I still enjoy it and hope they will have some big payoffs coming up. The first six episodes of the season dealt with Kate, Sawyer, Jack and the Others but they are about to get back to the beach with the other surviviors. I miss the other survivors. None stop Lost till the summer... can't wait!!!!

Best Buy Chaos

Well I had bought Harry a radio for his jeep while my Dad bought him speakers. Today we had an appointment at Best Buy for 10am. I figured we would just hang out and wait. So we took just Harry's Jeep. We got there at 10. They said it should take 2 to 2 and a half hours to install.. I thought this was a bit long but the Best Buy we went to had was in a big shopping area so I figured we could keep ourselve busy for that amount of time. Well 2 1/2 hours pass and I don't hear anything. We decide to go and see how things are going. Well they tell me that it's going to be another 3 1/2 hours to finish. I couldn't believe it. There wasn't much I could do since the jeep was all torn apart. Since the Jeep was an older jeep they said it was hard to install the speakers. So since we only brought the one jeep we didn't have much a choice and had to stay in the area for another 3 1/2 hours. We were not happy campers but what could we do. So 5 and a half hours later the radio installation was done. On the way home we had some issues with the radio that we are sitll needing to resolved. Why can't thing ever go as planned.. I guess that's just life.

Magic Mountain

Harry and I are both very avid roller coaster enthusiast. Since Harry has been here we have gone to Magic Mountains many times a year. We had season passes. But since we got Daisy we weren't able to leave her in the apartment alone. But after a year and a half Daisy is doing better staying home alone for about seven to eight hours so now we can get back to our Magic Mountain adventures. So we got 2007 season passes and today was the first day this year we were able to go. We had a great time. It was Super Bowl Sunday so the park was really slow. We did X, Viper, Tatsui, DejaVu, Riddler, Batman, Scream, and Goliath in a matter of five hours. We had a lot of fun.. can't wait to go back.

Harry Potter Book 7

Well they announced the release date for the Seventh and Final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. July 21st, 2007.
When I first heard the date I was kind of shocked that it was so soon. We just got the title a few weeks ago and the last we heard on Dec. 19th JK was still writing it. I really didn't expect it until the fall of 2007. Now the month of July is going to be a big Harry Potter month. We have the fifth movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix coming out on July 13th, then the next week Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the week after that I go to San Digeo Comic con. I plan on wearing my entire Harry Potter outfit to all these events.

This announcment was kind of bitter sweet, I'm happy it's coming out but then again this is the final, last, seventh book of the Harry Potter series. There will be no more, the story will come to an end. Harry Potter is such a huge part of my life. As time goes by I slowly lose my favorite series, First Star Wars than Buffy, than Lord of the Rings, than Star Trek and now Harry Potter. At least we still have two more movies that should take us till 2010. There are going to be many tears they day this book comes out.

Life in General

Nothing new really to report this past week. Still looking for a job, it's been a month and I'm ready to go back to work. Still looking for a house to rent, with not much luck. Been trying to organize all my things (books, DVD's, action figure, etc.) while I have the time off. I did work one day this week on my old show Curl Girls. This show will never die for me. Still have a few more days to work on things to correct error on the networks part. Other than that not much going on.

House Hunting

The past week we have gone and looked at several houses. One in Panrama City which was in a decent area and the house was really cut and exactly what we were looking for. It was listed as $1750 a month but when we got there the owner said she was raising it up to $1900 a month which is a bit to much for us.. so no luck there. We then went and looked at nother house in Van Nuys and the pictures looked nice but when we got there it was on a more rundown street and the house needed alot of work. So again another strike out. But we are still looking.

"Little" Brother Outing

After a much to long hiatus I hung out my new "little" brother. His mom and I have decided that shorter visit will be best. So we went and played a game of bowling and some video games on this outing. Spent about an hour and a half and had a really good time.

Tom's Birthday Party and Play

My friend Tom turns 38 today and he was having a nice little dinner party. It was Tom's closest friends and we had a nice time then about 2/3 rds through dinner Batman.. yes Batman came walking up the stairs looking for Tom. Now Tom is a huge Batman fan so this was not a huge surprise but when Batman came up the stairs he was followed by a camera and audio crew. This person was dressed as Batman and doing some sort of reality show "My Life as Batman" and Tom's friend Bill just happen to see him out side walking past the resturant and ask if he would come in and surprise Tom. It was soooooo funny. It was a great ending to dinner. Next was Tom's play that he had written. The group from dinner along with a few new people showed up at the theater to watch Tom's short play. It was a lot of fun, there were six short plays and Tom's was one of the better ones. All in all a fun night of celebrating with friends.

Trip up to the Cabin

We have been wanting to get up to the cabin for a while now and since I'm out of work for the moment we figured we would go during the week. For those who don't know my Mom and Step-dad have a small cabin up in Green Valley Lake, near Big Bear. It's the highest city in the San Bernadino mountains so we figured there would be snow this time of year. Well we were right, there wasn't much on the roads but plenty everywhere else. We go to the cabin and I did the normal things like turing on the gas, waterheater, electric and water but when I went the bathroom I found out that the toliet bowl and back half of the toliet were frozen solid, I could not believe it. We spent the next two hours pouring hot water in the toliet and trying to thaw it out so it was usable. We finally managed it and everything seemed to be okay after that. It wasn't the best start of a mini vacation but it turned out to me cold yet relaxing trip. It was also Daisy's first time in the snow and she really enjoyed it, which surprised us since she hates wet grass. So fun was had by all.

Monthly Game Night

Harry and I went to our monthly game night at our friends house in Pasadena. Our regular crowd (the guys we play games with everytime) were not going to be there other then our friend Tom so the night started off kind of slow. The past few years the game nights have gotten kind of clicky. There are certain groups of guys that tend to gavitate towards each other. Sometimes there is a crossover but most times the same group of people play games together. Well with our group not there Harry and I sat and chatted for a bit with each other in the living room and finally Tom showed up and got things going. We played a bunch of fun games with Tom and a few others.. the night started off slow but we ended up having a great time.
