Day Before House Warming

Today Harry and I have a ton of things to do before tomorrow. We were finally having our house warming party after 1 failed attempt back in Feburary when it was rained out. This time around it looks to be sunny and beautiful outside.

We've done a ton of work on the house and it's finally feeling like a home. We still need a few things like rug for our dining room and a coffee table to our living room but for the most part things look good. Today we focused one big thing and lots of small things. We knew we were going to wait to do the big cleaning tomorrow morning so today I worked on finishing up our "Star Trek" plate wall (it turned out GREAT). I worked on the Jason Palmer prints and putting them into their frames (which was a pain in the butt because they had to be just center). Harry got up and started to prep the hardwood floors and get them ready for their good cleaning tomorrow. We went shopping one last time for air blower, weed whacker and a few other items. I kept putting off the large project because I wasn't looking forward to doing it.

Finally there was nothing left to do and it was getting dark so I tackled the one big project in our office. When we painted a few months back we left an entire wall white as a friend of mine Greg Aronowitz is going to paint us a Star Trek Mural. Well he's such a busy guy and just hasn't had the time to do it and we've been looking at this white wall for 8 months and since it was our housewarming tomorrow I decided I was going to paint it.. so while we were out we purchased a gallon of the accent color in that room and started to paint. The hardest part was pulling the 2 desks back and trying not to break anything. I had about two feet of space between the wall and desks. It was tough trying to maneuver the ladder in such a small space and also not step in the paint tray. What was crazy is that the easiest part of the job was the actually painting and when I pulled off the painters tape the line were actually in good shape that I didn't feel I needed to repaint anything (I was so excited).

Later that night we went shopping for the BBQ, had to pick up hot dogs, hamburger, beer, soda and a much of other sides. There were 26 yes invites and 13 maybes so we bought food for 40 just to be on the safe side.

So all we have to do now is put up my Jason Palmer pictures and do one final cleaning of the house before noon tomorrow.

Man am I'm sore after painting.. I'm not as young as I use to be. :)

Podcasting and Stuff

Today I had an interview lined up with a Guild Fan for our upcoming podcast Ep. 15 pt. 2. So at 8pm Jenni and I got on skype with our friend Eva for the interview. It was quick and to the point lasting about 7 minutes.. it was a good though short interview.

After that I did a little editing work on the episode. Earlier that day I had gotten the Sean Becker Guild Something segment and so I cut in both of those segments. So all is left to do is cut in the SFX and do one final pass before I level it, convert it and then upload it.

I won't be posted until the End of April (I'm thinking Friday April 30th)

Gotta start planning to record our next episode.. man for a hobby this takes up alot of my time. :)

Guild Comic

Today the second issue of the Guild comic came out.. so while I was at lunch with my friend Brian we stopped by a local comic book shop and I picked up the comic.. I actually bought six issues, 3 of each covers. I also have another set on the way in the mail. But 1 set is for a friend in The Netherlands who asked me to purchase his since it costs him ($70) in shipping. The others will be for contest prizes. I hope to get Felicia and the cast to sign a few. Can't wait to read them.

Work - Wow

Well today I got a call from my supervisor about my email yesterday. She was really pushing for me to take the new job and I got a feeling so I asked, "Are they letting me going sooner then later? Is that why you are trying to get me to take the other job?" She didn't come out and tell me but I told her that I was fine if they let me go early, I'm very unhappy here and would rather be unemployed and able to look for another job then stay here for another 3 months. And if I'm let go I can collect unemployment insurance which will help while I'm looking for work. So I guess it's just a mater of time before they let me go. Was suppose to have a meeting with the show runner but it never happened.. will see if it happens today.

Tron Shirts

I saw a tweet about these T's and I am so close to buying one.. actually was going to buy one for me and my brother for his upcoming birthday. I got to checking out and realized that they don't take Paypal and I hate using my credit card to so closed the window but the more I look at them the more I want one. I'm sure I'll get one in the end. :)

Work - Made My Choice

Well I talked with Harry over the weekend and as much as I dislike my current job I can't take a demotion in position and a pay cut. Also Comic Con is at the end of July, Harry's family will be coming in from Austria in July/August and he and I plan to travel the west coast a bit in August. So if I took the new job I wouldn't be able to do all that as I wouldn't be able to take six weeks off of work.

So I'm going to email my supervisor and say thanks but no thanks I'll stick it out until this job ends.

Shopping

Harry and I went shopping again, seems like this is all we do on weekends, but we needed to find some borders for some picture frames that we got the previous week for my Jason Palmer Art for our TV room. While we were out I wanted to see if we could find some night stands for our guest bedroom.

We started at Ikea as we had looked everywhere for night stands and couldn't find ones we liked. After walking through the entire store we found some very cool night stands that we both liked. Next we purchased a side table lamp. We want something a bit funky and found a really cool sphere light. We also picked up some round candles for our candle sticks that are sitting on our mantle.

After that we had lunch/dinner at Chevy's then headed to Michael's to get the borders for the picture frames. There are six pictures so we opted to get three dark green and three dark blue borders for the picture.. they should compliment them well.

Jeep Top

For the past few months.. okay more like a year I have needed to replace my soft top on my Jeep. Every time it rained the top was so sun dried that the water would go right through and I would have to wear a hoodie so to keep from getting wet while driving. I also had towels on the seats because whenever it rained, they would get soaked.

I finally purchased one about five months ago and it's been sitting in my closet waiting to be put on. Now it sat there partly because I was lazy but in the instructions it says that when replacing the top it needs to be at least 70 degrees so the canvas will stretch. Well I could only do it on weekends and it seemed every weekend it was either cold or rainy and I couldn't do it.. on the weekends it was nice outside we would do something else and I would totally forget.

Anyways long story short when I took the dog out this morning the sun was beaming down and it felt very hot (and it was only 8:30am). So I check the temp and it was only 52 degrees but man did it feel hotter so I took a chance and decided that I was going to replace the top.

I read through the instruction, and I had to remove the old top.. once that was removed it was so much easier to understand the instructions as all I had to do was copy what I did to take off the top but backwards. It took about an hour and a half but I finally got everything back on and it looks great. I thought it was actually going to be very snug but it's actually kind of loose.. not too loose but not as tight as I had expected. Haven't taken it on the freeway yet so that will the real test.

Aunt Joyce's 50th Birthday

Today Harry and I headed down to my Mom's place for my Aunt's 50th Birthday party. Mom didn't want to do an "over the hill" party so instead she did a Hawaiian theme since my Aunt loves Hawaii. I went out the day before on my lunch and picked up a few "Hawaiian" shirts so we were set. It's funny as my Aunt was 10 years old when I was born, which makes me feel even older knowing that she is 50 which means I'll be 40 this year.

The party was a lot of fun, got to see lots of family that I don't get to see very often. It was great seeing my Aunt Paula and cousin Kathy who I haven't see since the death of my Uncle Richard five or so years ago. Got to spend some time with my Aunt Linda who I see very rarely and of course it's always nice to spend some time with my nephew Kenobi. And hanging with my Mom is always great as I don't get to do it as often as I would like.

We didn't get to stay as long as we would have liked.. my mom lives two hours away so that's four hour on the road already and Daisy can stay in the house for about 9 hours before she has to go outside.. so we stayed for about five hours before heading out.

It's always fun spending time with the family.. maybe it's because we don't do it very often so the time we do spend together is very special.

Work Woes

I haven't been talking much in my blog about my work issues. The show runner and I haven't been seeing eye to eye the past few weeks and he finally official complained about me to my boss who in turn brought the COO (Chief Operating Officer) to my office today to talk with me.

I won't go into great detail about our meeting needless to say that there was a lot of mis-communication. I told them I would not quit (yes it was that bad as I was thinking about it.) and that I would stay the remaining three months until my current show was over.

My supervisor told me of another position that would start in a few week. It was a demotion in position going from Post Production Supervisor to Lead Assistant Editor and the pay was also several hundred less then what I'm making now. I told her I needed to talk to Harry over the weekend and I'd get back to her.

So my option is to stick it out and just co-exist with the show runner and do the best job I can or leave for a lower position job with less pay. It might be an obvious decision for some but I am so unhappy at this current job I really have to think about it..

I'll keep you posted.

Battlestar Galactica on Blu-Ray

I saw this deal on Amazon a few weeks ago where you could get the entire series of Battlestar Galactica on Blu-Ray for only $149.99, that's over $200 off. I loved that series and don't have any of it on DVD so I jumped at the opportunity to own it the entire thing. As a plus with he neat packaging you get a very cool Cylon action figure.. how could I say no!!!

I'm Mention in an Article

I came across an article about a recent podcast I did with Felicia Day about Season 4 of The Guild. You can read the original article on MacGamer here I also cut and pasted into the blog. They don't mention me by name :( but they do call me "superhumanly nerdy interviewer" which I took as a compliment.

Felicia Day podcast interview

Fans of The Guild, the super popular web-based show about six losers in an MMO guild, will be happy to find out that Felicia Day did a little interview about the upcoming season 4... audio, no less. Over at Knights of the Guild there's a short interview with the adored-by-geeks beauty about what to expect in the show's next season, which will arrive this summer. She hesitates to say a lot about the show (because who would want to ruin the surprises?) but, as the lead writer, she mentions that she's planning to go a little easier on the characters in this season after the seemingly endless abuse at the end of season 3. She says she's planning on putting them back together and making them comfortable once more as a "dysfunctional family". It's a neat interview with a superhumanly nerdy interviewer and should whet the appetites of those who love just listening to Day talk and imagining that they're sitting at their feet, staring up affectionately into her eyes (or whatever it is you guys do when you hear Felicia Day talk).

Magical Streamys Remix

I love this video and song... it's from a group called Auto-Tune the News. They do these hiliarious and incredible mash ups. If you don't know what mash up is, it's when you take several songs or movie clips or pieces of media and combine them into one piece of media.

This was played at this years Streamys and was on of the very few highlights. It's a Mash Up of several of the nominated websereis, including the one I work on The Guild.. check it out.

KOTG News Minicast #3 - Season Four

Well it was officially announced that Microsoft will be sponsoring Season Four of The Guild. Here is the official announcement from WatchtheGuild.com

The Guild Season 4

Posted: 13 Apr 2010 11:53 AM PDT

We’re pleased to announce that Season 4 of The Guild is official – Microsoft has renewed the show for another season and new episodes of The Guild will be coming to Xbox, Zune and PCs this summer. Felicia is putting the finishing touches on the script for Season 4, which will pick up where Season 3 left off. Pre-production is underway, keeping producer Kim Evey and Streamy Award winning director Sean Becker very busy as cameras are set to roll sometime in May. Seasons 1 through 3 are currently available on watchtheguild.com, iTunes, Amazon and YouTube.

Microsoft has sponsored The Guild since season 2. The Guild thanks Microsoft – along with all the fans – for continued support of the show.
-The Guild management

I actually chatted with Felicia Day for a few minutes and tried to squeeze some info out about Season Four.. I wasn’t too successful but I did manage to get a few tibits.. so take a listen to my conversation with Felicia.

Lost and V

More great TV tonight... I've watched Lost since the very beginning.. I actually saw it about six months before it started. I watched the pilot at comic con and was blown away. It's been an up and down roller coaster ride but for the most part I have loved every minute of it. Now with them on their last season and only have a handful of episodes left I am starting to worry that they are going to wait until the very last two hour episode to really explain anything. This last season has really taken the series in a whole new direction but I'm enjoying it. Tonight's episode involved Hurley and Libby and I loved those guys as a couple in season two and we upset when it ended.. so it's nice to see them actually kind of go back to that story in the flash sideways. They explained about the voices in the forest which was cool.. but that's about it. There were two shocking moments, both ended with a BANG!! I know they won't answer all the questions but I'm excited to see how this whole crazy story ends next month.

Now for V.. as I have said in my previous blogs about V I'm an old school fan of the original and thought the new version is far from the original it still have elements that link back to the original. I've been liking the new V. Last nights episode was enjoyable.. I wouldn't say they are great.. but they are fun.

Big Bang Theory

This has been one of my favorite TV series the past few years. It's funny, witty and most important very geeky. The four main geeky guys are all so different you can't help but see bits of yourself in each one of them. Tonight's episode saw the return of Sheldon's rival Wil Wheaton and it was hilarious. Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon is the heart of the show and I'm amazed that he still hasn't won an Emmy. Any character who is paired up with Sheldon shines. It's in it's third season and there is no sign of it stopping.. if you're not watching you should be.. check it out on Mondays on CBS at 9:30pm.

It also has one of the best theme songs, here's the extended version.

The Streamy Awards 2010

Today was the 2nd annual Streamy Awards (Oscars for the web). I got invited by The Guild and was excited to be attending. I had been invited last year but opted not to go so I was really looking forward to this...

... If I knew then what I know now I would have opted out again this year.

Anyways, got ready around noon and found out that my 1 pair of dress pants were slightly to small and the black dress shirt I was going to wear had the top button missing. So a quick trip to Kohl's to grab another pair of pants and shirt. Got home around 2 and ate a quick lunch. Dressed and sure enough my red suspenders snapped... and I had to go with my black pair.

Got on the road about 2:30 as I wasn't sure how long it was going to take to get to downtown LA and I needed to be there (so I thought) by 4pm for the red carpet. I got there around 3:45pm and headed in. Went to the VIP/red carpet side and found out that I was not in the right place. Instead I had to walk around the block to the front of the building and get my "general" admission ticket there and stand in line.

First of all.. this year was very different then last years. I'd figure I would have access to The Guild cast as I was there to do a microcast for Knights of the Guild. But since everyone was in the VIP section and I was part of the general admission that was not going to happen.

So luckily a fellow Guild crew member Andrew was in line and allowed me to join him (thank goodness for this or I would have been totally alone). We waited in line for about an hour before they let us in. Once inside we were directed to the upper balcony for seating. We did manage to get second row from the front over on the right side of the auditorium. Then we waited a half hour for the show to start.

I won't go into great detail about the show, but will highlight some of the good and bad.

Bad:

* Technical issues: this is to be expected for a "live" event, just not so many all at once.)

* Video Screens: Since I was in the upper balcony I could not see any of the activities happening with the celebrities down below, I could only hear the audio. This did many skits with the audience and it became very annoying after a while.

* Vulgar and Raunchy humor: I don't mind smart dirty humor but this was low brow and stupid.

* Do the gag and move on: Some of the gags were funny but then they would go on and on and on and they became less funny as they went.

* To many homophobic and rude jokes: I'm a gay man and I know they were in jest but there is a limit and they crossed it.

Good:

* Felicia Day: She won Best Actress in a Comedy Series later in the show but she showed such class with her acceptance speech (best one of the night).

* Sean Becker: He won for Best Direction in a Comedy Series. This was so well deserved as he works hard in every aspect of The Guild

* Paul Scheer: He hosted the show and though some of the writing was horrible he came up with some pretty funny jokes and made the best of a bad situation.

* Autotune The News: They presented a very cool youtube inspired Autotune video.. they also preformed one of there skits live and when they won their award the four of them sang their acceptance speech in harmony and it was one of the highlights of the night.

* And of course the two male streakers, some folks didn't like but I thought it was funny and kind of lighten the mood.

After the ceremony I couldn't find any of the Guild cast and really had had enough of this event so I headed home. I did talk with Jenni and she was working press with Tubefilter but did manage to get a few interviews with The Guild cast so I'm hoping we can do a short microcast about the event in the future.

**** Thank you to WorldofHiglet for the screen grabs. You can see more here.

Finished Editing My Podcast

After shopping, I came back home and tried to finish editing my Knights of the Guild podcast. I had done alot of the editing already.. but still had to do the final pass and audio pass. I finished around 11pm and started the convert the audio, as I have to output it, then level the audio, then convert to mp3 before it's done. But should be done in a few hours and all ready to be uploaded and out by April 15th.

Shopping

There is one thing that is very true about owning a house.. you are never at a lose for things to buy. So once again Harry and I head out to go shopping.. this time we hit Michael's (looking for frames for cool drawings for our TV room), Bed, Bath and Beyond (looking for collector plates hangers).

We then were heading to Ross (to look for a nightstand) but we took a detour into Sports Chalet to look for a at home Gym.. and we found a really nice one. If we had the space in the garage I'd have bought it right then and there... but we still have to clean up a bit before then. But I really want to get it ASAP so I can start working out again.

We headed to Ross afterwards and found nothing.. then to Target and again found no cool nightstands for our guest room..
Publish Post

We were all shopped out by then and headed home.

Doctor Who

Watch the second episode of the new Doctor Who and still loving it. Steven Moffat writes such interesting stories.. so much emotions and OMG moments. Matt Smith still amazes me, it feels like he's been playing The Doctor for years. And Karen Gillan is so enchanting as his companion.. can't wait for next Saturday

Going to the Streamy's

Today Kim Evey (producer of The Guild) called and confirm that I indeed had a guest ticket to the Streamy Awards. If you don't know what the Streamy's are.. they are the award for Web series and Web Content. This is it's second year and I had a ticket for last years but opted to not go and was very bummed after the fact.. so when Kim asked if I wanted a ticket for this years I was quick to say yes. They are this Sunday and you can watch live online at http://www.streamys.org/

Editing the Podcast

After the great interview I continued to edit my next podcast. I did alot of the prep work already and all that was left to do was to put everything together. It took a few hours but I manage to get everything strung together and I'm really happy with it. Still need to do one final pass and polish and also I need to do a SFX pass. Since we are suppose to be in an Cafe I need to add crowd sfx. I still have a week to finish but should be done with it in the next few days.. then I can move on to part 2 which isnt' due until the end of the month.

Interview with Teal Sherer

Tonight after work I rushed home to do an interview with Teal Sherer (Venom on The Guild) for my Knights of the Guild podcast. Jenni is still on the east coast and couldn't make the interview so I was doing it solo. Earlier in the week I had tweeted about doing the interview and asked for questions and the listeners really stepped up and sent me a bunch of cool and interesting questions.

I have to say this was on of my favorite interviews that I have done so far for KOTG. Teal is a very sweet and intelligent lady who gave really good honest answers... it flowed so well.

And you guys will be able to enjoy this interview in our next podcast Knights of the Guild Ep. 15 part 1 which will be released on April 15th.

KOTG Microcast #16 Quest for Comic Signing

This Microcast covers the Guild’s comic book signing at Golden Apple in Hollywood. It started out as Felicia Day only but soon all six cast members were going to be there to sign. I wanted to do this microcast for all the fans who couldn’t make it. Jenni (my co-host) is on the East coast so I asked a good friend of mine Greg Aronowitz to join me, which he happily did. So we got there around 5 and there was already a line forming. We interviewed some fans who were waiting and then went inside when the event started. Most of the night I was the “muscle” and stood by Felicia and made sure no one went behind the table. It was a very well organized event and everything went very smoothly. After the last person in line (they had to close off the line). I joined in and had my owe comic books signed.. I might work for The Guild but I’m still a fanboy. :) Greg and I also did mini interviews with each cast members about the experience and being in a comic book and an interview with the store owner Ryan.

It was a great night, Greg was a super substitute co-host and hopefully this microcast brought the signing to everyone.

You can see more pictures on my flickr account..

Thanks for listening

Family Visit

My family is not religious so Easter really isn't that important to us. But we do normally get together for a dinner and this year I thought it would be fun to invite my family to our new house. Harry and I have been here for over seven months but they still haven't seen it. So my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law and Nephew joined us today for an "Easter" dinner.

It was fun as normally we go over to Dad's and he cooks the dinners but this time I was cook the dinner. I was surprised that Michael found the place with no problem. Of course the mentioned how we were in the middle of no where, everyone who visits us says the same thing. We then took them on a tour of the house and they all liked the place. We then took them on a tour of the land, Dad, Lora and Kenobi walked around for a bit but then went inside while Harry, Michael and I continued to walk around. Mike saw all the potential with the land.

After the tour we went inside and made a fire and sat around and chatted. It was kind of nice as when we visit them we normally sit around and watch TV, so this was a nice change. Of course a few hours in Mike mentioned a Lakers games and he and Dad headed to the TV room to watch. Lora hung out with Harry and I as I started Dinner.

Dinner turned out pretty good, everything seemed to like the meal. We visited another hour or so and then they decided to head home as they wanted to get home before the sun went down.

All in all it was a great day filled with food and family.

Doctor Who

Today in England they released the first episode of the All New Doctor Who, series Five. This is the Steven Moffat era and has a new Doctor (Matt Smith) and a in Companion (Karen Gillan). Lot's of folks have been worried, as they often are, when the change actors (doctors or companions). So there was a lot of build up for this premiere. It doesn't air in the US for another two weeks but I have "other" means of obtaining a copy of the show. So tonight Harry and I sat down to enjoy the further adventure of Doctor Who.

When it was over both Harry and I had huge grins on our faces. We were on a Doctor Who high. I loved everything about it. Matt Smith played the Doctor perfectly, felt like he had been doing it all his life. I liked Karen as the new companion. I really liked her story and introduction. Steven Moffat has written all my favorite episodes the past seasons including my all time favorite Girl in the Fireplace. He has a way of mixing drama and sadness with heart and zany comedy. I think this was the best opening episode of any season of Who and I can't wait for the second one.

Guild Comic Book Signing

Today I left work a little early to get to the Guild's comic book signing at Golden Apple in Hollywood. It started out as Felicia Day only but soon all six cast members were going to be there to sign. I planned on doing a microcast for all the fans who couldn't make it. Jenni (my co-host) is on the East coast so I asked a good friend of mine Greg Aronowitz to join me, which he happily did. So we got there around 5 and there was already a line forming. We interviewed some fans who were waiting and then went inside when the event started. Most of the night I was the "muscle" and stood by Felicia and made sure no one went behind the table. It was a very well organized event and everything went very smoothly. After the last person in line (they had to close off the line). I joined in and had my owe comic books signed.. I might work for The Guild but I'm still a fanboy. :) Greg and I also did mini interviews with each cast members about the experience and being in a comic book.

After the event Greg and I joined other cast for dinner at a Italian restaurant a few blocks away. That was a ton of fun as hanging with the cast is always a good time.

It was a great night, Greg was a super substitute co-host and I'll hopefully have the microcast done in a few days.

Lil' Guildies

Here is something new from the creators of The Guild.. it's a new cartoon spin off called Lil' Guildies.

I love this.. I had seen preview drawings of the characters from the very talented Greg Aronowitz and loved them. I heard Paul and Storm was doing the music and knew it was going to be good. And when Greg told me it was in the vain of Muppet Babies I knew I was going to love and they didn't disappoint.

EDIT *** Yes this was an April Fools joke.. though a very elaborate one.. a joke known the less. :( And yes I knew all along it was a joke.. but really wished it wasn't.

They also released a deleted scene.

V - Returns

Whoo hooo.. after a three month hiatus, the re-imagined "V" on ABC has returned. This is episode 5 and I think they story is moving along. I was excited to see it come back. I'm a HUGE fan of the original and I have to keep myself from comparing the two as they are very different. I'm enjoying the new V but not loving it yet.. I especially enjoyed the final scene with Anna showing her true self. Need to see more of that.

Wait... What!!!!!

Well today was a pretty good day.. oh with exception of me almost quitting my job. It's a long story that I won't go into here in my blog.. needless to say that the Show Runner (production) and I (post-production) don't see eye to eye on some issues. He actually ended his email with " So I put it back to you...either man up, handle my very reasonable requirements, or find another place to work. "

I would have left that moment but I wouldn't want to put the strain on my boss Darla or my day AE Brian. Plus if I quit I can't collect unemployment insurance. Now if he wishes to fire me.. I'm all for that as I could collect insurance then.. so I guess will see what happens.. either way this is a very unhappy work environment.

Success

After calling around to a few stores I found a Bed Bath Beyond in Studio City who had some of the clearance wall sconces so after lunch with my friend Jeff I headed over to Studio City and exchange the sconce (of course I checked it in the store). Can't wait to get home and finish that wall.

Lunch with Jeff

Today a Guildie friend from the East coast met up for lunch. He was down here for a wedding and going back tomorrow so we got together for lunch at Islands. Jeff is an online friend who I met through The Guild and also met in person and hung out with last years at Comic Con. It was great seeing him and we have a very enjoyable lunch. Looking forwarding to hanging out with Jeff again at this years Con.

More Decorating

Today we finally put up the clock and wall sconces that we purchased a few weeks ago. The Clock went up with no problem and it took some work to get the sconces arranged just right but while doing the second sconce we noticed that part of it was broke. The bad thing is it was a clearance item so the chance of them not having another is possible. So I guess I'll be calling around tomorrow and trying to find another Bed Bath Beyond who might still have them in stock.. which me luck.

Harry's Present

For Harry's birthday he asked for a second monitor for his computer since he does alot of editing and having a second monitor makes it so much easier. But he has an IMac and I had never heard of a second monitor being hooked up to an IMac. So I did a little research and found out that the newer IMac's (like Harry's) does have a port that you can hook another monitor too.. well with the help of an adapter cord as well. So we were off to Fry's

We checked out the monitors, then decided to see if they had the adapter first so with some help we found the adapter and picked one up. We then went to find him a second monitor. He wanted something at least the same size as his Mac screen (which is 20") We found some other 20" but actually found a 21.5" (Acer) on sale so we wound up going for that one.

As soon as we got home we hooked it up and it didn't seem to be working. He then went into his system preference and clicked on display and voila it found the second monitor. Now he is the proud owner of a second monitor.

Harry's Birthday Dinner

This has become a tradition over the past few years. For Harry's Birthday we go out to Outback Steakhouse (one of his favorites restaurants). From time to time we have friends and family join us as well. This time around we invited some of our closest friends; Tom and Ervin, John and Moises and Bruce. We had a great time catching up and just enjoying ones company. The food was as usual AWESOME.. we discovered their Aussie Cheddar Fries which were to die for and of course the Steak was wonderful as usual.

It was a fun night..

Yard Work

After finishing my podcast with Jenni and headed outside to help Harry with some yard work. Since all the rain we have gotten a boat load of nice looking weeds but they are pushing up through our rock gravel and we just haven't had time to take care of them so they are starting to overtake everything. So we attempted to pull as much as we could. Harry had been out there for hours.. but I lasted a few hours before we had to go in an get ready for Harry's Birthday Dinner with friends.

Job Offer in South Africa

Today I got an IM from a former line producer that I worked with. She asked if I was working because she had a job for 10 weeks working on a webseries for the World Cup and it's located in South Africa.

I didn't even really consider it as they wanted me to start soon and I'm currently working until mid July and of course I have my monthly Knights of the Guild podcast and my obligations to The Guild webseries. And to be honest I have never wanted to visit South Africa, now if the job was in Europe somewhere I would consider it.. but to me it was an easy choice. I said thank you for thinking of me but no.

Some folks think I'm crazy for not taking it, they say it's a great opportunity and it might of been but not for me at this moment in my life.

Today I spent a few hour editing my next Knights of the Guild podcast Episode 14 part 2. It went pretty smoothly and all I have to do is assemble it when I get home.. should be up in a week or so.

My Podcast Interview

Today one of the podcasts I did an interview for last week was released. It's Scifi Surplus Episode 122.. you can listen to it here. It turned out pretty good.. I don't sound too stupid. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

Family and Shopping

Today Harry and I finally were able to go down and visit my Dad, Brother, Sis-in-law and Nephew. We've been trying to do that for almost a month but something kept preventing us from doing so. But today we made it down there. We first went to our favorite Chinese place, Hong Kong and had lunch with Dad. We when went shopping. We hit World Market first and got a rug for the master bathroom. We then hit Bed Bath Beyond and found some stuff but decided to hold off because we had a coupon at home. We then headed to Ross and we found this beautiful "old" looking clock that we have been wanting to get for our TV room. It's now going to be used in our Dining room since we no longer have room in the TV room. After that we headed to Kohl's and found alot of cool things.. some nice Tshirts, some candle sticks, and a really neat hour glass. We also found the perfect coffee table/ottoman but it was a bit expensive and I had another coupon at home so will go back later to get it. After that we drove over to Walmart to see if we could find some boots for Harry. While we didn't get any boots we did get some bathroom accessories (rugs, and matching toothbrush holder, trash can, and soap dishes).

After that we headed back and hung out with the family and played with Kenobi a bit. Harry also worked on Lora's computer to try and get her pictures off of her blackberry.. which he did.

All in all it was a great day hanging with Family.

WE FINISHED THE HOUSE

Today we "officially" finished the house, meaning painting the inside. I know I said that a few weeks ago but this time it's true.

I finished the Master Bathroom and Harry finished the Laundry room. We may still do some touch ups here and there but the house is 99.9% is done and I couldn't be more excited. Of course we still have to hang pictures and accessories and then move on to the outside of the house and yard. Well all this hard work is so worth it knowing that this place is ours.

What's Going On!!!!

Today like the past three weeks was a very hellish day of work.. It just seems like everything that can go wrong does go wrong and they everyone is on edge and snapping at each other. I sure hope next week goes smoother.. I'm getting tired of being stressed out.
