The Avengers (My Review)

I went and saw The Avengers today (opening day). I didn't do the midnight thing and instead went at noon, I figure there would be no lines or crowds like there will be at night... and I was right for the most part. Don't get my wrong the theater was packed but I had gotten there a half hour early and got my prime seat. Everyone started filling in a few minutes before the movie started. I did attend solo, but surprising there were quite a few guys there solo.

I saw this movie in 2D, I'm not a huge fan of 3D converted films. But with that said when I see this movie again, and I will be seeing it again soon I will try and see it in 3D.

Alot of my twitter friends saw the film at midnight so I got a ton of tweets expressing their thoughts about the film and the overall census was that it was EPIC!! So if my hopes weren't high enough all these rave reviews made my hopes go even higher.. and I have to say I was not disappointed.

First of all I'm a HUGE Joss Whedon fan, I've loved everything he has done so I was really excited when I heard he was not only writing this film but directing it as well and this movie has Joss written all over it. The banter between characters, the action sequences, the camera shots and angles.. All Joss Whedon.

I was worried that since there are so many character that some would shine more then others, but honestly they all had their moments in the spotlight. Each character grew and was well developed. The acting was superb and as I mentioned before the writing was incredible. The SFX were amazing and the pacing of the film was quick and intense.. right from the beginning. There were defiantly some hilarious Joss moments. I'm not going into details as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. But I will say Hulk has several moments that the crowd just erupts with laughter.

I enjoyed all these characters in their own movies, Ironman, Hulk, Thor and Captain America but this movie is by far one of my most favorite super hero movies to date. I can't wait to see it again and again.

Also be sure you stay through the credits.. there is one scene in the middle of the credits and then another one at the very end... both are pretty awesome!!!

I give Avengers 10 out of 10

  1. I could not agree with this review more! Next time you go keep an eye out for anytime Banner passes a reflective object...and check the reflection.

  2. Jam-packed full of action, humor, special effects, and superheroes, The Avengers is the perfect way to start off the Summer blockbuster season. I hope that Whedon returns for the sequel that they're talking about doing, but then again, it may be another 4 years until we get to see that again. Nice review Kenny. I wonder what will be a bigger flick this Summer: this or The Dark Knight Rises? Can't wait to see that one either!
